"Welcome, Shaymin!"
Rex chuckled when he saw Shaymin dart away like a startled bunny, but he still welcomed it warmly.
Faced with Rex's kindness, Shaymin felt a bit embarrassed. After all, it had secretly followed him and settled in his Gracidea garden without permission.
If Rex hadn't figured out its presence, Shaymin would have stayed in the garden and secretly observed his life. But now that it had been discovered, Shaymin was at a loss. The garden belonged to Rex, and without his permission, it didn't feel right to continue living there.
"How did you discover me?"
Suddenly, a somewhat childlike voice echoed in Rex's mind. He looked around for a moment but quickly realized that Shaymin was using telepathy.
"Shaymin, just take a look at the area outside the terraced garden, and you'll understand," Rex pointed to the distant sea of flowers and said.
After staring for a while, Shaymin realized that it had unconsciously used its powers while asleep, turning the area into a flower field.
"You recognized me just because of these flowers?" Shaymin asked, surprised.
Although it had unintentionally created a garden, other Pokémon in the world had similar abilities. How had Rex managed to track it down so precisely?
"Of course, it wasn't just the flowers. The air became much fresher, and the town has legends about Shaymin. During the last camping trip, I felt an unusual gaze, and all these changes only started after I returned.
Combining all this, I guessed that a Shaymin had followed me to the farm, and the only thing that could attract you would be the Gracidea garden."
Rex calmly explained his reasoning to Shaymin.
"You're a pretty clever human!" Shaymin playfully tapped Rex on the shoulder with its tiny hoof, speaking in a mature tone.
"Haha, I guess I'm okay," Rex replied, not missing the chance to gently pat Shaymin's head again.
"Hey! Stop patting my head!" Shaymin protested, feeling a bit cheated and backing away.
"Sorry about that. For some reason, I just can't resist patting your head. Maybe it's because you're so cute, Shaymin!" Rex chuckled, retracting his hand.
"Hmph, now that I'm out, did you need something from me?" Shaymin asked, quickly getting back on topic.
"Oh, I wanted to ask if you plan to stay here temporarily or settle down long-term?" Rex inquired.
"Are you trying to chase me away?" Shaymin asked dejectedly after hearing Rex's question.
"Don't get me wrong! If you want to settle on the farm, you're more than welcome. But we need to agree on a few things first," Rex quickly explained, noticing Shaymin's misunderstanding.
Shaymin listened attentively, waiting for Rex to continue.
"I just hope you won't expand the flower field any further. The farm is home to other Pokémon too, like Mareep and Miltank, who need fresh grass to eat, and Taillow, who rely on berry-based Pokéblocks.
If the flower field keeps growing, it might affect the growth of these plants. Plus, the large flower field could draw unwanted attention."
"Oh, I see. These flowers were created unintentionally while I was asleep. I'll make sure to control my powers and not expand the flower field any further." Shaymin was relieved, realizing this wouldn't be a problem at all.
"There's one more thing. We harvest some of the Gracidea flowers from time to time and sell them at a flower shop, but I promise it won't affect the growth of the entire field," Rex added, remembering his commitment to deliver flowers to the shop regularly.
"That's fine with me! I'd love for more people to enjoy these beautiful flowers, especially since Gracidea flowers can convey gratitude!" Shaymin replied nonchalantly.
As long as Rex didn't wipe out the whole garden, Shaymin could easily make the Gracidea flowers grow back with its powers.
"Then welcome to the farm, Shaymin!" Rex said, extending his hand with a smile.
After a moment's hesitation, Shaymin happily placed its tiny hoof in Rex's hand, both satisfied with their agreement.
Rex didn't bother Shaymin any further, knowing that winning its trust would take time and continued interaction.
Shaymin was relieved that Rex wasn't pressing it. Preferring solitude, Shaymin enjoyed staying by itself—a true homebody Pokémon.
Once Rex left, Shaymin finally had time to admire the garden. Unless something unexpected happened, it planned to make this place one of its homes.
The more Shaymin looked at the terraced garden, the more it liked it, occasionally flying over the Gracidea flowers to take in their fragrance.
When Rex returned to the house, he found Uncle Henry already building the cabins, assisted by his experienced Machoke.
"Uncle Henry, sorry to trouble you again," Rex greeted with a smile.
"Haha, Rex, you're too polite! You're helping my business, so don't worry—I'll make sure these cabins are solid," Uncle Henry replied, wiping the sweat from his brow with a grin.
Since Uncle Henry didn't let Rex help, he chatted for a bit before heading back inside.
"Boss, did you figure out why so many flowers appeared?" Yuli asked curiously, with Yuli and Karen listening closely.
The three of them were excited about the sudden flower bloom but were also curious to know more about what caused it.
"The flowers grew because of a Pokémon, which now lives in the terraced garden. However, it usually stays hidden, and we can't see it unless it wants to be seen."
Knowing that Shaymin's presence on the farm couldn't be kept secret for long, Rex decided to be upfront about it.
"What kind of Pokémon is it? So mysterious!" Yuli pressed for details, intrigued by Rex's teasing.
"It's called Shaymin, a mythical Pokémon like Celebi!"
Rex's answer left Yuli, Yuli, and Akino wide-eyed in astonishment.
After encountering Celebi, the three had become curious about mythical Pokémon and had researched them. Now that they knew what a mythical Pokémon was, the idea of one living on the farm was mind-blowing!
