Chapitre 1: Chapter 2: The Mission Begins - Imprisoned for Life!

Rune power… A tempting reward, but given the current situation, it's practically a ticking time bomb.

Remember, Piltover is one of the most anti-magic cities around. Back when Heimerdinger founded it, he wanted to distance it from the dangers of magic.

Now, if Leruro used rune power to escape, he'd be forever branded as a "violent mage."

Even if he did manage to flee, he'd never find a place for himself in all of Piltover—and it could even ignite a full-blown conflict between the upper and lower classes!

Leruro's face darkened. Honestly, he didn't care if it sparked a war, but he had no intention of sitting in jail and taking the blame.

But the problem was that if he went for a brute-force escape, his future options would be just as critical.

The continent of Valoran is full of dangers, and compared to Noxus or Bilgewater, Piltover's order and stability make it a paradise for any peace lover.

And Leruro, still disoriented, had no clue where else he could go.

No, he couldn't just make a run for it… The rune power on his hand gradually dissipated.

Trapped inside and out, Leruro felt overwhelmed, so he had no choice but to dig deeper into the system.

The system panel offered little information for now. After the initial reward draw, only a single line of text remained.

**[Rune Power Capacity: 50]**

"So, the capacity can be increased…" Leruro murmured, though this didn't help him much at the moment.

Just when Leruro was at a loss, the system panel suddenly displayed something new.

**[Mission: Convince the enforcer to argue your innocence.]**

**[Reward: 10 gold coins]**

**[Time Limit: 1 hour]**

**[Failure Penalty: None]**

Leruro froze.

Convince an enforcer?

Where would he find one?

As Leruro pondered, the heavy metal door slowly opened.

Startled by the unexpected scene, he fumbled, trying to hide the system panel, but when he saw who entered, he was momentarily stunned.

The head warden wore a blue uniform, unlike anything Leruro had seen. They opened the door, standing respectfully aside to welcome the arrivals.

Two women walked in.

One had long blue hair, wore an elegant blue uniform, and sported a high police cap. Her presence radiated cool, aristocratic beauty—a true ice queen.

The other woman had short, dark pink hair and a red uniform worn in a noticeably casual style, with buttons undone and strange tattoos on her face. White bandages wrapped her arms down to her hands, giving her an intimidating aura that made people instinctively keep their distance.

Leruro instantly recognized them.

Caitlyn and Vi.

Even without Caitlyn's iconic Hextech rifle and Vi's gauntlets, Leruro could never mistake them—he'd played as these characters countless times as a longtime gamer.

Yet seeing them in person, even more stunning than their in-game versions, was startling. Their beauty fit Leruro's modern tastes perfectly, from Caitlyn's regal, chilly charm to Vi's bold, androgynous appeal.

But right now, looks were the last thing on his mind.

Leruro suddenly recalled that these two had arrested him.

As Piltover's newest enforcers, Caitlyn and Vi were far ahead of others in efficiency and zeal.

So naturally, a major case like the Hextech explosion had landed in their hands.

Leruro had been wondering where he'd find an enforcer within an hour.

So, this was it.

The system stated there'd be no penalty for mission failure, but Leruro knew that meant only within the system itself.

In reality, failure would only lead him back to prison.

This was his one chance.

Seeing Leruro conscious before them, Caitlyn and Vi looked a bit surprised—this criminal had been out cold for days and only woke up the day before his trial.

"Anything you'd like to confess? Any accomplices? Who orchestrated this heist? And where is the remaining Hextech gem? Speak up, and it might spare you some pain."

Caitlyn spoke first, her tone icy.

Not only Caitlyn, but Vi also glared coldly at Leruro.

He was not only a major criminal but a direct obstacle in their plans.

After Silco's death, Vi and Jinx's relationship was shattered.

After much persuasion from Caitlyn, Vi had finally resolved to reach out to Jinx again—only for another explosion to occur.

With that, Jinx had become public enemy number one, especially to the elites, and Vi's plans to reunite with her were scrapped.

Leruro's stomach churned—this was a hostile start.

Despite all his hours playing Caitlyn and Vi, facing them like this stirred an odd feeling.

But he had no choice but to push forward.

"I'm not the criminal; I have nothing to do with the Hextech explosion! And I didn't steal any Hextech gems!"

"They all say that," Vi sneered. "Guess we're not getting anywhere with this one. Enjoy your last day; the trial won't be as easy."

With that, Vi turned to leave, indifferent to yet another criminal.

Spending even another second with this violent offender made both her and Caitlyn uncomfortable.

"Wait!"

Gritting his teeth, Leruro leapt forward and grabbed Vi's arm.

If they left, he was done for.

Whatever trial day was, it didn't sound promising.

Vi yanked, but Leruro's grip held her firm.

Even Leruro hadn't realized how deep the rune power had sunk into his bones. Although his runes weren't activated, his strength was beyond that of an average person.

The guards immediately swung their precision-geared Piltover batons toward Leruro.

"Hiss…"

Leruro winced, but his grip remained firm.

"I'm telling you, I'm innocent!"

Vi didn't respond, but a swift punch flashed as she twisted free.

Leruro had never seen such a precise strike—it was as if he faced a professional fighter. The punch's force alone was formidable, stirring the air.

He released her and dodged back, avoiding the blow.

He wanted them to stay, not to fight.

The guards seized Leruro, pinning him to the ground as he cooperated, still shouting:

"Believe me, I'm not a criminal!"

Without a word, Vi touched her arm, a reminder of the grip's lingering pain, but replied coldly:

"Put him in Hextech cuffs and ensure he's restrained until trial day."

At her words, a guard retrieved a set of mechanical handcuffs glowing faint blue.

Just as they prepared to lock him up, another voice, clear and cold, interrupted:

"Wait."
