Chapitre 34: The shelling of Black Port

A thunderous roar echoed through the harbor as Samantha's command was executed. The monstrous ship, the Blood Claw Ravager, let loose its fury. Cannons emerged from the ship's flanks, each one loaded and primed to unleash devastation. The deafening sound of gunfire ripped through the night, followed by an explosion of fire and debris as the first volley hit its mark.

Buildings along the waterfront erupted in flames, their fragile wooden frames no match for the ferocity of the bombardment. The once bustling pirate haven, a symbol of lawlessness and defiance, was now a war zone. Screams of terror filled the air as the chaos spread. Dockworkers, traders, and pirates alike scrambled for cover, their earlier bravado turning to sheer panic as the city was torn apart by the onslaught.

Raven and Fuwa, caught in the chaos, sprinted down the narrow alleys, the shockwaves of the explosions rattling their bones. The ground beneath them shook with each blast, sending plumes of dust and smoke billowing into the sky. Raven's heart pounded, her ears ringing from the cacophony around them. She had faced plenty of dangerous situations before, but this, this was sheer madness, as a mercenary not even the bloodiest battlegrounds seemed like this.

Fuwa said something, but her ears were more sensible to the sound than the human's, couldn't catch anything, she noticed it and grabbed Raven by the arm again and pulled with all her strength as she begun to run. She led Raven through the twisting streets, dodging falling debris and navigating through the panicked crowds. Raven's mind raced, adrenaline pushing her forward as she tried to make sense of the chaos. There was no plan, no time to think... only the desperate need to escape the hell that the port had become.

'For an instant, I believe that having some assistance we could solve this mess' Raven thought, her mind was trying to understand what was happening, she knew that since humans from other worlds started to appear some strange things were invented, but she had never heard of something so monstrous as this, everything became a blazing inferno around them, as they climbed the hill in where the city was built everything kept exploding around.

Behind them, the Blood Claw Ravager continued its relentless assault, it kept spitting fire and destruction over the port. Samantha stood at the helm, her expression one of cold satisfaction as she watched the city burn. To her, this was a long-awaited reckoning, a cleansing fire that would rid her of the parasites that had grown too comfortable under her shadow. The port was nothing but a den of traitors, and she would see it all reduced to ash. A good test for her plans to come.

"Reload!" Samantha barked, her voice cutting through the chaos. Her crew moved with disciplined efficiency, each man and woman knowing their role in the symphony of destruction. The crew laughed as they saw the rest of the city crawling like the worms they were.

If this wasn't her turf anymore, then none will have it, she didn't care about the gold anymore, she had plenty. She smiled with happiness when she spotted the place where the stock house of the Brotherhood should be exploding.

Back at the city, they were nearly near the end of it. Some townsfolk and sailors were running at their side when they got trampled to death under the weight of one of the carts pulled by the horses... They nearly got Fuwa too but she jumped to the side protecting Raven as well. She watched in anger how they kept this without caring for the other lives but one of the explosions caught them and the cart flew through the skies and slammed one of the houses nearby.

Raven wanted to go and make sure all the guys inside the cart were dead, but Fuwa didn't allow it, she just pulled her again and kept running, in her mind, Raven didn't believe they would make it alive out of this, and she wanted to bring down as many of those freaks as possible with her, they were the reason she had fled to this death trap in the first place and she was putting all the blame into them.

In Fuwa's mind, they had to make it to the dusty road, it would be a hard trip to the Dungeon City without transport but not impossible... they just had to survive being in the wrong place at the wrong time.

'This isn't about the Brotherhood' Thought Raven, it was impossible that only because of that fire this happened, she felt confused 'The one behind this probably was just waiting for a chance and took the excuse'.

"『Aqua Shield』!!!" Cast Raven, after she remembered her shield, she had been panicking so much that she forgot about it.

"Nice job!" Said Fuwa, even tho Raven couldn't hear her.

The splinters flew everywhere and struck the shield, but it held the incoming damage, at least for now. With this help, Fuwa could focus on escaping without worrying much about collateral damage.

There was no resistance, no meaning to fight back against the sudden barrage. It was past midday, but, it looked already like night. The insane amounts of smoke and fire had clouded the skies, survivors screamed, and some tried to escape, Blood Claw didn't care, if some escaped it didn't matter at all to her, killing them all wasn't really her goal, she was just enjoying seeing what she can do.

"Cease fire" She calmly said after some time.

When her cannons stopped roaring, she was hoping to hear more screams, but it was surprisingly calm, mostly the sound of the wind howling and the fire consuming everything could be heard. Everything went similar to what she had imagined, but she felt hollow after doing it, she wanted more, she needed to prove this now against a real target. She had some cities in mind.

"Set sail!" She said and her crew cheered, they would reunite with the rest of her fleet and pay a visit to some old friends.

In the end, Fuwa and Raven survived by sheer luck, even with their stats the monstrous barrage from the pirate was enough to wake them up to reality, to feel how weak both of them were. Raven had never seen something like this.

'If the battlefields are turning like that... then I'm not fighting another war'

Other survivors followed close behind them, not everyone had died, but the geography of the hill was changed forever, it had been blasted so hard, that it would be impossible to rebuild anything there. The trails of the Brotherhood carts were fresh, probably many of them got away with it and were able to flee the city.

"Ahoy, there is city no more" Said Raven placing a hand over Fuwa.

"『Aqua Heal』" She said healing both her and her teammate. Both without notice were terribly wounded by the wooden splinters that flew away everywhere, and with the emotion of the moment they were able to ignore that pain, but now it was hitting them.

"We have to leave this place..." Said Fuwa catching her breath "We gotta get away from all this people before the panic starts again and they start another fight..."

Raven looked at the dusty road into the wasteland, crossing it on foot was insane, but it was better than staying here and finding out what was next.

"Let's get the hell out of here" Raven said doing her best to stand up again 'And if we cross those bastards on the way there is no stopping me'

This wasn't over. For some reason, it felt personal for Raven.
