Chapitre 176: What An Educated Woman

If Kang Jun was in Paris, at a time such as this, he wouldn't have shown himself in public.

Due to the picture of him and Tang Bingyi together, many people now knew who he was and how he looked like. Thinking about this as he drove, Kang Jun frowned.

Thank god he had decided to book the bed and breakfast in this small town or else, his and Lu AnLing's honeymoon would have been ruined and it would be all his fault. If he had taken this away from his wife, he would have never forgiven himself.

In the car, Lu AnLing held his hand with one of her hands, and with the other, she browsed the group chat, on her phone. She was still looking at the photo of Kang Jun and Tang Bingyi.

"Are you sure this Tang girl doesn't like you? Uh... I mean, like like you?" Lu AnLing asked.

"I'm sure." Kang Jun said without taking his eyes off the road.

Lu AnLing turned to face him and then she looked at him deeply. Her big foxlike eyes shone beautifully despite the darkness of the car. It was like she was staring into Kang Jun's soul.

"Then why was she smiling?"

Hearing the curiosity in Lu AnLing's voice, Kang Jun laughed. Ever since he had first met Tang Bingyi, he had sensed something from the girl, which made him believe with one hundred percent certainty that she was not interested in him.

Suddenly, the words that Tang Bingyi had said to him echoed in his head. 'I hope all goes well with that pretty girl.'

Hearing this, Kang Jun couldn't help but smirk before he said, "You,"

Lu AnLing's face scrunched. "Me?"

More confusion gathered in the girl's voice. Kang Jun wanted to laugh even more but instead, he smiled and began to explain to her what he meant. From the day they had seen her in the club to the exchange they had in Tang Corporations and in the car. As Kang Jun continued to speak, Lu AnLing's mouth turned into an 'o'.

Lu AnLing touched her chin and bit her lip. "So she's shipping us?"

Kang Jun cocked his head. "Shipping?"

Realizing the generation and interest gap, Lu AnLing said, "Uh... it means she's rooting for us to end up together."

Kang Jun: "Mmm."

"Well that's different..."

Kang Jun nodded. "Tang Bingyi is truly strange, but at least she doesn't resemble her brother in the slightest. I don't think Elder Tang could handle both of his grandchildren being incompetent. It's strange though... Despite being twins, they couldn't be more different."

Lu AnLing nodded. "That happens I guess..."

Turning to look out the window for a second, Lu AnLing's mind wandered. If her children were by her side, she wondered if they would be alike or not... thinking about it her heart hurt, but knowing they had the paternity test back at the bed and breakfast, Lu AnLing felt as if she was close to finding out the identity of her child. The previous tests had sent her heart on an emotional roller coaster but these tests should tell her the truth, once and for all.

***

Kang Jun and Lu AnLing arrived at a restaurant on the outskirts of town. Looking at how the restaurant was a huge castle-like building which bordered a small lake, Kang Jun understood why Lu AnLing's rich benefactor had invited her to dinner at such a remote place.

Despite the town they were staying in being quaint, it lacked the high-class things many rich people liked. Though neither Kang Jun nor Lu AnLing minded a bit, they understood that not everyone liked the simple things in life.

Walking inside, Lu AnLing stuck close to Kang Jun.

At a desk of sorts, a small white-haired man smiled at the two nervously and began to speak slowly, "Welcome Madame, Monsieur... Uh... table... for... two...?"

The man knew no Asian languages and he didn't want to assume their nationality either, so he was in a bind.

Seeing this, Kang Jun frowned but by his side, Lu AnLing smiled politely.

"No, I'm here to meet a man named Zeke. My husband here will sadly be eating on his own."

Hearing the fluent French escape Lu AnLing's mouth, the old man gave a sigh of relief.

"I understand, Madame." The man then hollered to a young waitress, "This is Margaux, she will lead you to Mr. Zeke."

Margaux smiled at the young couple and then, she began to walk into the distance, checking over her shoulder to see if Lu AnLing was following her.

Lu AnLing looked at Margaux, then to Kang Jun, she kissed the man on the cheek and said, "I'll finish up with this and then I'll come back to you."

"Mmm." Kang Jun said as he reluctantly allowed the girl to walk away from him.

As Lu AnLing dragged behind Margaux her whole body shivered. It wasn't cold but instead, she was a bit scared. Lu AnLing had never met Zeke before. All she knew was that he was the man kind enough to support her when no one else would. Other than that, the man was like a legend to her.

Once upon a time, Anna and Lu AnLing had discussed Zeke. The former hoped that Zeke was a kind of knight in shining armor or a prince while the latter believed he was probably a retired old man without a family who was trying to give back to his community.

Those were childish conversations by two 20 something-year-olds but now, Lu AnLing would get to find out who was right.

In front, Lu AnLing saw Margaux walk to a table for two. There, Margaux stopped, greeted the man opposite of her and then she pulled the chair before she turned to Lu AnLing.

Approaching, Lu AnLing examined the back of the man who sat at the table. His hair was pitch black and by his frame, he seemed fairly skinny. He didn't make a move to look at her so Lu AnLing continued to stare at his head of black hair.

"Hello Mr. Zeke," Lu AnLing said as she walked by him.

Looking at his face, Lu AnLing was shocked to see an Asian man.

The man waited until the girl had sat down before extending his hand to the girl and saying.

"Lu AnLing, I'm pleased to finally meet you. No need to be formal. Just call me Zeke." As he said this, a soft smile appeared on his face. It was so sincere that Lu AnLing was almost taken aback. Looking over the softness of his features and the perfection of his smile, Lu AnLing felt as if her existence had paused. He seemed so young and innocent, like a true angel. But noticing the scar on his neck, she was sure the man hand't lived a peaceful life.

She almost wanted to ask how old he was. He didn't look a day over 30.

Seeing that she was shocked Zeke smiled.

"Would you prefer us to communicate in this language?" He spoke to her in Chinese.

"Or maybe this?" He then said in English. "You can also fluently speak Japanese, Korean, Spanish, Portuguese and Italian, right?"

Hearing this, Lu AnLing accidentally smiled without her meaning to. Realizing, Lu AnLing, tried her best to stop but she couldn't. "I know a bit of German, Arabic, and Hindi too..."

"What an educated young woman, you are. I'm very proud of you." Zeke said to her happily. He sounded like a father.

Lu AnLing: "Umm... but you're an American right? English is fine. Or whatever you like."

Zeke smiled and said, "Let's speak Chinese. I have to practice. It's been a long time since I've had a proper conversation in my other native language."

Lu AnLing: "So you're Chinese then?"

Zeke laughed at Lu AnLing's question. "Yes and no. I'm Chinese but my mother was a Chinese American. I was born in America, so I guess you could say I'm both."
