Now that the attempt to escape the wedding had failed, Shu Qiqi could only marry into the Leng Family, but she was determined to take back her mother's belonging!
"You're in no position to call the shots now. Whether you like it or not, you have to marry into the Leng Family," he said. "As for your mother's belongings, if you ingratiate yourself with the Leng Family and bring convenience to the Shu Family, I'll consider it."
If it hadn't been for the Leng Family matriarch taking a fancy to Shu Qiqi, he wouldn't have brought her back from the orphanage.

At this point, Shu Changning paused, then softened his tone:

Having said that, he turned and left.

The wedding was set for the next day, and Shu Qiqi came downstairs in a long white dress.

As if she was so eager to marry him. If he wasn't going to marry her, he could have said it earlier and saved her the trouble of a failed escape.
Leng Yichen didn't expect the woman to be so happy about it, and it irked him slightly.
He grabbed Shu Qiqi's arm: "However, you'll have to play a part in a charade with me."

"If you agree, then come with me."
Shu Qiqi weighed the pros and cons. Staying with the Shu Family would mean suffering at the hands of Shu Changning, given his character. Although the man before her seemed difficult to deal with, he was the one seeking her cooperation, and the situation was to her advantage.
"What's in it for me if I play along with your charade?" she asked.

Shu Qiqi didn't expect him to agree so readily and was in high spirits: "Then let's go."
