Meanwhile on Dehzahk:
The planet, the beautiful planet of Dehzahk is no more. The planet's skies were invaded by the asteroid, "Final". This wasn't a surprise. People were ready to face their end. No shouting, no screaming, no running for life, no clamouring... Only silence. Dreadful silence. Survivors? Yes. One of them, is our protagonist. Fred Guiseas. Born in Griseras, the country of Forvirretia, it was easy for this weakling to make an escape to the underground vaults in the Griseran Forests. He survived an orphan, lost his parents to "THE FINAL APOCALYPSE". At least that was what the media termed it before the showdown.
Three years later, present day:
Fred sets up his camera on the bookshelf of his underground bunker.
"Today marks the third year death anniversary of my parents and the second year anniversary of the complete depletion of food and water here. And tomorrow, I turn seventeen. I've been hunting ever since the final apocalypse. I feel like I know every tree and grass in the entire forest. I ate rabbit legs for breakfast today, saving the rest for later. I know it's weird recording all of this to show it to the first survivor other than me to see. Hopes are vanishing. I'm gonna poozle the asteroid to see if anything living has taken shelter in it. Crazy thinking about my past life right now. I used to be a vegan! Look at me now, eating rabbit legs for a living. Funny how very few places survived the attack. Nearly the entire Griseran Forest escaped! Lucky me, I could find enough to eat and drink. It's raining outside right now. Three years gone, so I think this isn't acid rain anymore. No more global warming. I sure can feel the chill of Oxygen in my bronchis when I inhale. Ample supply of batteries in this bunker to keep my wrist watch alive for at least twenty more years. I hope they don't leak out. I found a few bags of rice yesternight, fed them to the birds this morning. This could be my new hobby I guess, at least for as long as the rice bags last. I saw myself in the river today. I've become too skinny. But I know I'm stronger and faster now. I hope that I find some other survivor soon. It feels depressing to be alone. I break out almost every night. I don't think I have anything more to say now. Let's see what the asteroid can give me. Goodbye for now!"
A small piece is what it was. A tiny little piece of the asteroid. By tiny, I mean as big as a car. Now to think of the size of the entire asteroid, I don't think that can be easily put in words. One can only be thankful enough that the impact hadn't altered Dehzahk's axis or moved it out of it's orbit. Fred reached it within about fifteen minutes. The number of times never mattered, but he always stood in awe at its size for at least a few seconds every time he saw it. He scavenged every last bit of the asteroid, but found nothing. Not even an insect. He checked time. Four fifty eight in the evening. He started walking back slowly in despair.
A slight breaking sound made him look back. A piece of the asteroid broke and fell down to the ground. He thought of saving it alongside his collection of shells. But to his surprise, he found something interesting carved on the piece. Something disturbing. Something that he had once seen elsewhere as well. A runic alphabet. Or was it a symbol? A logo of sorts? He didn't know exactly. But one ray of hope, finally. Clearly, the asteroid wasn't carved in space. Someone had been there. Meaning that someone must live close by. Finally, a chance for him to enjoy the company of someone new. Finally, a happy thought after three years.
