Chapitre 60: Teaching Luffy
Early in the morning, on the shores of Sabaody Archipelago, more than forty massive ships were anchored nearby. Despite the early hour, the vessels echoed with the sound of joyful laughter.
"Guurarara~"
"Straw hat kid, your current strength isn't enough to survive in the New World. If you rush in without caution, you'll only bring death upon your crewmates," Whitebeard chuckled heartily as he sipped his drink.
Facing him was none other than Straw Hat Luffy, with his ship undergoing the necessary coating. Whitebeard found himself with some free time, entrusted by Redhair Shanks to take care of Luffy. Seizing the opportunity, he prepared to impart his knowledge not only to Luffy but to the entire crew.
As Luffy listened in silence, his fist clenched tightly. Despite his unwillingness, he acknowledged the truth in Whitebeard's words. Even in the first half of the Grand Line, there were formidable opponents he couldn't defeat. His encounters with the Marines and the World Government, coupled with the Summit War at Marineford, had opened his eyes to the vast number of strong individuals and hidden monsters in the New World.
Against these formidable foes, the Straw Hat Pirates were clearly outmatched. Recklessly entering the New World could spell certain doom for Luffy and his crew.
"Father, please teach my brother," Ace pleaded beside them, recognizing Luffy's impulsive nature and lack of necessary skills.
If Luffy ventured into the treacherous seas of the second half of the Grand Line without caution, his journey might end prematurely in the New World.
"Uncle Whitebeard, please train me!" Luffy's eyes widened as he heard Ace's plea, a surge of determination coursing through him. With a grateful heart, he humbly bowed down, showing utmost respect.
He understood Whitebeard's strength, knowing that even Aokiji, who could defeat him effortlessly, was badly wounded by a single punch from the legendary pirate. With Whitebeard's guidance, Luffy was confident he could rapidly develop the strength needed to navigate the challenges of the New World.
"Guurarara~" Whitebeard's laughter resonated, signaling the beginning of an invaluable training journey for Luffy.
As the tension built up for Luffy's upcoming training with Whitebeard, the cunning and calculative nature of Alex, now manifested in Ace, shone through. Ace, leaning on the ship's railing, watched the scene unfold with a smirk, fully aware of the challenges ahead for his younger brother.
"Is your brother going to train with Pops?" Marco inquired, his interest piqued by the impending battle on the shore.
Ace nodded, acknowledging the necessity of the training. "With his reckless nature and current strength, he won't survive in the New World."
As Luffy prepared to face Whitebeard in combat, Crocodile, standing nearby, couldn't help but smirk. He recognized the vast difference in power between Luffy and the seasoned veteran, Whitebeard. The very idea of Luffy landing a hit on the old man seemed like an ambitious feat.
"I hope the straw hat boy doesn't get discouraged," Vista commented with a smile, expressing concern for Luffy's well-being.
"Relax, Luffy isn't that easily given up; he's kind of a stubborn guy," Ace confidently reassured, embodying a strategic mindset that acknowledged Luffy's determination and resilience.
The calculated approach of Alex, now reflected in Ace's demeanor, assessed the situation realistically. The difference in strength was undeniable, but the unwavering determination of Luffy was a factor not to be underestimated. As the training began, Ace continued to observe, ready to step in if needed, and silently strategizing for the challenges that lay ahead in the unforgiving waters of the New World.
He comprehends his brother quite well. Ace's headstrong and stubborn nature means that losing a battle won't discourage him in the slightest.
After several individuals spoke, Luffy was prepared. He clenched his fist, pressed it to the ground, and confronted Whitebeard with an unwavering fighting spirit.
"Uncle Whitebeard, I'm going to attack!"
"Guurarara~"
"Don't hold back, unleash your strongest attack!"
Whitebeard remained unmoving, his steadfast gaze fixed on Luffy. As the words fell, Luffy's eyes flashed, and his body surged forward, stepping on his feet.
In a blur of motion, an afterimage trailed behind Luffy. In an instant, he appeared right in front of Whitebeard.
Luffy leaped into the air, his fist tightly clenched with steam emanating from it, aiming a powerful strike at Whitebeard. The fist soared through the air with incredible speed, arriving right in front of Whitebeard after a brief moment.
"Is it going to hit?"
This thought crossed Luffy's mind, but before he could process it fully, his eyes narrowed.
Because at that very moment, Whitebeard evaded!
With a slight turn of his head, Whitebeard effortlessly dodged the attack.
"Uncle Whitebeard is amazing!"
Luffy shouted with excitement, clenching his fist once more. This time, he swung his fist even faster than before. At such a close range and with incredible speed, it seemed impossible to dodge.
But Whitebeard seemed to possess an uncanny ability to foresee the future. Just as the fist was about to land, he effortlessly evaded it once again.
"This!"
Luffy's eyes widened, showing no mercy as he shouted, "Gomu Gomu no pistol!"
Shoo! Shoo! Shoo!
The sound of air being torn apart filled the surroundings as Luffy's arms transformed into bullet-like projectiles, relentlessly blasting towards Whitebeard.
However, Whitebeard remained unfazed by the relentless barrage of attacks. He seemed to see through everything; no matter how Luffy attacked, he couldn't touch Whitebeard.
Witnessing this scene, Luffy swiftly created some distance between himself and Whitebeard. Instead of launching another attack, he stood there in shock, his eyes locked on Whitebeard. He couldn't comprehend how Whitebeard managed to completely evade his assault!
