Chapitre 89: Beating Akainu, Again

"Borsalino!" Akainu growled, his body trembling with anger rather than fear or shock. He had found Kizaru's behavior during the battle strange, and now it was confirmed. That was Borsalino, Admiral Kizaru, the highest combat power in the Marines Headquarters.

Kizaru had been pretending not to fight at his full strength in this critical live broadcast situation. Although he was undoubtedly stronger, he was merely using his Glint-Glint Fruit ability without employing Haki or other combat skills. He was avoiding a confrontation with Whitebeard altogether, opting instead to deceive the world with his clumsy acting and making the Marines appear weak.

Akainu's heart surged with monstrous anger. Gritting his teeth, he felt his arms burning with molten flame. "What the hell are you doing? This is war, and your current behavior is simply making the Marines lose face!" he demanded.

Kizaru replied with a strange tone, "The strongest person in the world is not so easy to deal with. Didn't he cut off your arm?"

Akainu was at a loss for words, unable to refute Kizaru's statement. Whitebeard was indeed incredibly powerful, to the point where even Admirals couldn't match him in a one-on-one fight. Kizaru had been wounded by a single blow from Whitebeard and seemed to be seeking some rest.

As Akainu seethed with anger, Vice Admiral Tsuru intervened, rebuking the two of them. "Enough, we can't afford to fight amongst ourselves right now!" she scolded.

Akainu snorted coldly in response, feeling aggrieved and furious. He knew Kizaru was acting, but he couldn't find a way to argue against it. Suppressing his anger once again, he rushed towards Whitebeard at full speed, taking matters into his own hands since Kizaru was unwilling to contribute.

Vice Admiral Tsuru sighed exasperatedly, knowing Kizaru's ambiguous sense of justice. In Kizaru's mind, the Marine's idea of justice was not always true justice, and the actions of pirates were not always purely evil. This led him to sometimes avoid killing his opponents, preferring to capture them instead.

Despite deviating from the Marines' code of justice, it's understandable given the circumstances.

"Great Eruption!" Akainu bellowed, unleashing a ferocious assault as lava-like flames erupted from his fists, hurtling towards Whitebeard with relentless force.

Simultaneously, Kizaru sprang into action, transforming into a beam of light and ascending into the sky. "Yakani no Magatama!" he exclaimed, bombarding Whitebeard with his signature technique, filling the heavens with exploding golden orbs of light, creating a dazzling yet overwhelming spectacle.

While Kizaru's efforts seemed more for show than genuine engagement, he still contributed to the onslaught, albeit subtly.

The combined assault created a cataclysmic barrage akin to a series of detonating bombs, shattering the ground and engulfing the area in clouds of dust.

"Have they succeeded?" wondered a Vice Admiral, turning to observe the aftermath, only to realize the battle was far from over.

A hurricane swept through, dispersing the dense smoke, revealing cracks in the air as a fierce vibration erupted, countering the destructive force of the lava fist and light balls.

"Failed?" Akainu's gaze turned icy as he pressed forward, his lava-clad fist pulsating with extreme heat.

"Dark Hound! Die!" he roared, leaping towards Whitebeard's head, aiming to deliver a devastating blow.

"Guurarara~ Magma boy, your arrogance knows no bounds. It seems you've yet to learn from past pains!" Whitebeard chuckled calmly, facing the impending strike without flinching.

As the attack neared, he raised his arm, enveloping it entirely in Armament Haki, ready to meet the molten assault head-on.

With unwavering resolve, Whitebeard grasped the descending magma fist, ignoring the searing heat as he firmly restrained Akainu, preventing him from breaking free.

"Do you think I'll make the same mistake twice?" Akainu's face twisted into a cruel smile, recalling the previous encounter where he lost an arm to Whitebeard.

Having learned from that experience, Akainu had devised a plan for such emergencies. A burst of molten lava erupted from his fist, flowing towards Whitebeard's arm like a relentless force of nature. The threat loomed – if Whitebeard didn't release his grip, his arm would succumb to the scorching magma.

Akainu's grin widened; he felt in control, having meticulously calculated the situation. For Whitebeard, it seemed like a lose-lose scenario – either give up his arm or face Akainu's devastating counter.

"Magma kid! You are too arrogant!" Whitebeard spoke with a low tone, his demeanor unfazed.

Contrary to Akainu's expectations, Whitebeard hadn't released his palm, and the power of the Tremor-Tremor Fruit was conspicuously absent. Instead, he placed his other hand on Akainu's shoulder, seizing control of the situation.

Forcefully, Whitebeard slammed Akainu to the ground. The earth trembled, and dust filled the air. Seizing the moment, Whitebeard grabbed his Naginata and swung it down, the steel handle colliding with Akainu's magma palm.

"Murakumogiri is one of the twelve supreme swords. With the temperature of your magma, you can't melt it instantly!" Whitebeard asserted, his voice carrying immense pressure as the hilt firmly pinned Akainu's lone arm.

Confusion and frustration etched Akainu's face as he tried to stand, only to find himself immobilized. Whitebeard raised his other arm, containing a vibrating light ball.

BOOM!

Akainu was blasted into the ground, the vibration wave spreading as his head continued to sink. His once-majestic face now stained with blood, Akainu felt a profound sense of shame.

"Damn! Damn! Damn!" Akainu seethed in fury, struggling to comprehend how, despite his preparations, he found himself brutally beaten by Whitebeard.

Before he could process what had happened, Whitebeard launched another attack. A powerful punch sent Akainu crashing further into the ground.

BOOM!

The earth shook, and smoke filled the air. Onlookers, including Vice Admirals and spectators worldwide, watched in shock as Admiral Akainu, the Marines' top combat power, was mercilessly pummeled by Whitebeard without the ability to fight back.
