Isolated Forest
Two indifferent beings…
What do they…for?
~.~✮⋆˙
There is a forest in the middle of nowhere that no one knows about. Humans, supernaturals, otherworlders, deities, and beings who exist on the fringes of reality—none of those who possess consciousness are aware of its existence.
It was a beautiful place full of luscious greeneries, fragrant flowers, friendly animals, and gigantic trees. Just like any forest, it experiences the changing seasons and nurtures various life and diversity.
It sees the birth and death of all creatures, the cycle of life of each living being. It has fertile soils, flowing waters, and fresh air. At night, it would see the moon and stars; in the day, it would see the sun.
However, this forest was solitary and isolated. Its unparalleled beauty and mystery is unknown to the outside world. Nevertheless, even if one were to know of its existence, they would have no means to enter because it was isolated from even the universe itself.
In the vast universe, it was "The One and Only."
Katangi-tangi.
The forest of Katangi-tangi or Katangi could be said to be mystical because of just this simple characteristic. But moving aside its solitary nature, the existence of magical and dociles animals, as well as various stunning and ethereal sceneries, there is one other thing that makes it more mysterious.
Katangi-tangi, despite its vast landscape and numerous flora and fauna, has a sole forest keeper that governs its activity and takes care of its everyday maintenance.
A forest keeper.
Among all the words and phrases in the world, there was only one statement that could describe the forest keeper.
"Lone, impartial, and isolated, a beauty that transcended the boundaries of gender, and distant eyes that seemed to regard everything with indifference."
The forest keeper was the kind of...being...that was too ethereal, beyond anyone's comprehension of existence. It was like the forest keeper were meant to tread the world alone, without anyone by their side.
However, the forest keeper does have a companion by their side whenever the forest keeper goes inside the forest for a maintenance check.
Every time of high noon, as if by design, a small plump being with pointed ears would join in on each travel, always following closely behind the being covered with a dark blue hood. Sometimes it would interact with the creatures along the way or help the keeper check the local flora using its pink nose.
The two would continue doing their own thing until the forest keeper completes their check and retires for the day. After every maintenance check, the two would part, with the smart cat going back to its previous activity and the hooded figure entering a state of isolation.
Just like that, the isolated forest was cared for.
There is one time, however, when the isolated forest was not so isolated.
Katangi-tangi, Y. □■●●□
In the middle of the forest, under the center tree.
"Kahoy, this is enough."
A hooded figure put down the hand examining the large Malabulak tree before gracefully turning.
There was a small cry from the field of grass at the other side of the giant tree. Soon, a plump head poked out from the greenery and slowly approached the keeper.
The hooded figure waited for the small creature before moving towards the way they came from. The tiny cat, following behind, leisurely treaded the forest along with the indifferent being.
Suddenly, the forest keeper paused their footsteps. Surprised, the cat following behind also stopped.
It was a few moments before the forest keeper spoke to seemingly nothing.
Kahoy was confused, its misty eyes turned to the seemingly empty space its forest keeper spoke to. Seeing that there was nothing there, the curious cat uttered a inquiring meow in the forest keeper's direction.
The forest keeper paused as if remembering something, before smiling at the smart cat.
"Kahoy, there is an esteemed entity. Would you be kind enough to prepare the River of Huyan?"
Kahoy did not fully understand but since the master was asking to prepare their isolation space, the smart cat did so as instructed. In any case, a visitor must be greeted with much welcome.
The "reception" did not last very long, for Kahoy, though. After everything was settled, the forest keeper isolated inside the river. Occasionally, Kahoy and the other forest cats would enter but they would not fully grasp what was being exchanged between the forest keeper and the "esteemed entity."
However, they were supportive of the event.
Although, for the smart cat, the encounter was truly evanescent.
