Chapitre 2: No way!!
"Your are getting married..."
I couldn't believe what I had just heard!
"WHAT??!!" I yelled.
"Keep your voice low Shagufta!" He said and widened his eyes.
"No I won't! I won't lower my voice and I won't marry that IDIOT!" I yelled and ran upstairs, ignoring Ammi and Abbu who were calling out my name again and again.
I shut the door behind me and sat on my bed, trying to digest what just happen!
Wait, so I was called down by my parents to know that I am getting married and now I am in my room thinking about what happened instead of telling them that I don't want to marry anyone!
Wait...
I already said it!
UHHHH!!!
I started fast walking in my room thinking of what should be done...
Should I run away?
Nah.... I don't have the guts to it!
Suicide?
For this I again don't have the guts!
UHHHHH!
What should I do now????!!
My thoughts were interrupted by Ammi, who opened the door and entered. She looked at me with sadness, pity and defeat.
There was silence all over the room. We both looked super uncomfortable, but then she broke the silence and said:
"I was not the one who made this decision Shagufta..-"
"But you can be the one to change it Ammi!" I interrupted.
"Do you really want me to get married so early? Do you?"
She looked at me again with defeat but did not answer.
UHHH!
"You know what it's better if I die, at least it will be my own decision!" I yelled.
"Shagufta!" She stood up and shouted.
"Why do you even care, your the one who was always a cow, a cow who always said YES to every decision Abba took even though you knew it was WRONG! But I don't want to be that COW! I won't be! I will stand up for my self and do any possible thing to stop this bloody marriage! Even if that includes being against you and the whole family!" I yelled at top of my voice.
I immediately felt something hard on my face, like a slap. But Ammi was not the one to do it, it was Abba. He listen to the whole conversation and I didn't even notice it!
Amazing! Right?
"Shut your damn mouth before I do something I might regret!" He yelled. I looked at him with anger and then at Ammi who still had a shocked face.
"Why are you looking at her? She won't save you today, she can't save you today because you deserved this!"
That's right, when ever Abba use to yell at me she always came in between to save me. I guess I did deserve it.
Suddenly he caught my hair and started pulling out of the room.
"AGGHHHH!" I yelled.
"Shut up!" He yelled.
When we reached in the living room he let go of me and picked his phone and started dialing numbers.
"Who are you calling now?" I asked.....in anger.
Of course!
He came close and said:
"When I say shut up and shut up! Got it?"
He brought the phone close to his ear and started talking.
"Asalamu alikum! (greetings) How are you?" He said in an opposite tune.
A happy tone!
"I wanted to talk about..."
I wonder what he want's to talk about and who he is talking to!
"...your son's and my daughter's wedding. Can we please prepone it?"
What??!!!
