"Lucas, I can walk," Imani stated as Lucas carried her down the stairs and he took in a deep breath.

"I know you can. I just don't want you to exert yourself," he replied when they got to the landing and she let out a small laugh before tracing a finger over the neckline of the shirt he had changed into a couple of minutes ago.

"By walking?" she asked and laughed again as he nodded. "Okay then," she added as he carried her into the living room and placed her on the couch her phone was on. "I thought we were going to the kitchen."

"Yes." He wanted to clean up the blood stains on the floor of the kitchen before he took her there. "Give me a minute. I'll come get you," he added and she slowly nodded.
