Monday.
It was pouring rain.
To get to work, Jiang Yuan had specifically taken his dad's Land Cruiser, forging through water all the way, which was quite arduous.
Upon entering the police detective squad's yard, he saw that the usually crowded parking spots were mostly vacant, probably not everyone had the cheek to borrow a car from their father.
Braving the rain, he dashed into the building and then into the office, only to find Wu Jun warming himself by an electric heater, sipping tea with slurping sounds.
"You're here early," Jiang Yuan remarked, surprised; he thought Wu Jun would be late.
Wu Jun grunted in acknowledgment but then asked, "Did you bring a raincoat?"
"No, I used an umbrella, just for a short distance..."
"Today is not a good day for anything, you should be prepared for the unexpected," Wu Jun interrupted Jiang Yuan, tossing him a raincoat, "Keep it, the rainy season is upon us. Wouldn't be surprised if corpses turned up."
