Chapitre 8: Status
"Man! I am going to beat that guy soon enough. I will train and then show him who is better!"
Naruto was currently ranting angrily about Sasuke. It seems this new kid really goes under his skin. Weirdly enough after they did their little explanation course of the fundamental Jutsu it was Sasuke who came over to Kaito and challenged him.
But Kaito declined immediately without considering. The face that Sasuke made when he got rejected so blatantly was hilarious. He seemed to be surprised and after noticing the others stare he looked somewhat ashamed and left it as it was.
"Naruto, I don't think we will be able to beat him anytime soon.", he told his brother.
"What? Are you actually giving up already?"
Kaito smiled and had no words for his brother's rashness. "No, of course not. But we need to train first. We don't have any training whatsoever, while he probably has his clan backing him up. That he was already using the clone Jutsu so well attested to that."
Naruto started to think about it. "Hmm, I guess you are right. But how do we do it? It´s not like we have anyone who can teach us."
"We don't need to. There is the academy´s library. There is bound to be things about basic stuff there. And if push comes to shove we could always ask Iruka-sensei. He will probably help us if it is not something unreasonable.", explained Kaito to him.
"You think so? I still don't know. He still looks at us weirdly." Naruto was still uncertain about his teacher.
"Yeah, I do. I think after today he seemed way friendlier than usual. He even approached me and asked after my well being. That is not something others do often."
"Ah, you are right! Well, then that's good." As if also realizing it Naruto started to grin. "Hey, bro. Can we some food? I am getting hungry."
"Sure. Just prepare the table and the items. You know the drill. I will do the rest.", smiled Kaito and nodded. For two boys of the age of 5 - 6 it was pretty remarkable that they could handle daily chores themselves.
But that is what living nearly 2 years in this apartment was all about. Even though it was Kaito that mostly drove this way of life. He even threatened his brother from time to time with no food if he was lazy with other stuff like cleaning.
Equal distribution of chores was the key to a clean and working household. Sometimes Kaito wondered where he had that mindset from.
Later when they finished eating up it was time to relax. Naruto mostly watched TV while Kaito started reading books.
"Hey, Kaito."
"Yes?"
"That thing you did at the academy. Can I really do it? I did notice that gathering my chakra feels weird. Maybe I am just really bad?"
Kaito his eyes that were somewhat drowsy became larger after hearing his brother.
"What is wrong, Naruto? First, you are so optimistic that you infect others and now you are gloomy like there was whole day-long rain? That is not like your usual self."
"Well, I do wonder sometimes if I really am bad...After all..."
"You are not! Don't even dare mention that ever again in front of me."
"Brother..."
"All you need is training. I am sure of it. We are twins after all. How can one twin be good and the other bad? The only thing I would say is that you are lazy...and often than not solve problems with your heart instead of your head..."
"Hey..." Naruto threw a cushion at Kaito.
Kaito snickered. "All is fine. I believe in you, brother. You will become the greatest shinobi there ever was. Hell, you will probably become the Hokage."
"Really!?", asked Naruto with a smile.
"Sure."
"Alright! I think I know now what I will become! I will aim to become the greatest ninja ever. I will become the fifth Hokage!"
´Maybe not the fifth, my dear brother...´, smiled Kaito with that thought in mind - hidden away. For that, they were both ways too young.
"And you will become my second hand!"
Now Kaito frowned. "Second Hand? I am definitely not going to do your paperwork! Just because I help you with our homework doesn't mean you can just neglect your studies. How often do I have to tell you? Do you want to fail the exam?"
"Urgh...", exclaimed Naruto. "No, I don't."
"Then keep studying. You are already close to the last place in class..."
"Ha! But I am not last!"
"Right...Well, goodnight, brother. I will go and sleep early today.", said Kaito and walked off to his room.
"Oh, alright. Goodnight." Naruto went on watching TV. He will probably fall asleep in front of it again. He never really learns.
When Kaito was in his own room he looked through all the screens he had. This weird ability that popped up since today sure was a happy surprise. It was also what he concentrated most of the time.
He tried out various things and look and behold. After he cooked today, another window popped up telling him he got the Cooking skill leveled up to level 8.
So he made sense out of it and came to the conclusion that various tasks would result in an appropriate skill. That made him figure out that a skill meant something along the line of one's expertise with something.
Testing around he also found his skill tab. Just like the quest tab that was now empty, there was also a skill tab. There were actually a few things in it already that made him curious and lead him later to his status tab.

*Cooking (LVL 8)*--(Active): The expertise in preparing food. The higher the skill the tastier the food. At a certain level food also gives benefits to the body.
*Chakra Control (LVL 3)*--(Active/Passive): The expertise in gathering and guiding chakra in your chakra system. The higher the skill - the more precise your distribution, - the faster you replenish your chakra, - the less you waste chakra while performing Jutsu, and the easier it is to learn and advance more difficult Jutsu.
*Natural Water Bullet (LVL 1)*--(Active): The natural use of chakra to perform the Water-Bullet-Jutsu. No hand signs needed. The higher the level, the stronger the skill and lower the cost. Can not go under cost: 10(20) - Current Chakra Cost: 200 Insufficient Chakra results in Failure and -50% EXP gain in said skill.

*Precise Chakra Control (LVL MAX)* -- (Passive): You are gifted for the finer workings of chakra. EXP gain in Chakra related skills +25%

Kaito really had to think about some things that were written in those windows. There were a lot of things he didn't really get but could figure out with the help of the descriptions.
What made him surprised was that he seemed to have a bloodline? Was he actually from a well-known clan? Then why was everyone still hating them?
And then there was this trait about his body being sickly? But by the looks, his bloodline did counteract it. That is a somewhat lucky thing but he should still be keeping an eye on this trait. And what exactly was that unknown trait?
After a while, he just shook his head. He would have to rethink it some other time. The status tab was actually more interesting for him.

´Crap looks like the sickly body actually nearly negates all my benefits from my bloodline. I only get 12 measly HP more. Oh well...Anyway, I guess HP is my health while CP should be my chakra, right? Otherwise, I am pretty much a blank slate...weird. I never thought of myself being dexterous.´

Soulcrystal Note: I will only write out skill explanations once. After that, it will mostly be shortened into the name and lvl.
Cost: 10(20) - This means that normally the cost can not go under 20 but with the trait +precise chakra control+, it can improve and go down to 10. Chakra Control has a max level of 100. Just like other skills.
I will still rethink the system I guess. It should at least make somewhat sense and not overpower the MC too fast.
