Chapitre 29: Chapter 29: Towards the Northern Border
At sunrise, Tekku arrived in front of Konoha's main gate, where a group of different genin and chunin were already waiting for the arrival of their comrades. They belonged to the group of shinobi who would reinforce the Northern Border with Iwagakure. Tekku joined them in this endeavor as he couldn't spot any of his own teammates, nor the presence of Kurenai Yuuhi.
As the 8-year-old genin confirmed inside his head that he packed everything, especially his secret samples that he painstakingly collected, there was no possibility of leaving them behind in the village. The risk of them being discovered was too high. This is a shinobi village, where monitoring and spying on the population was normal. No, he had all the bodies from the Uchiha Massacre and his mission safely stored in a storage seal placed on his body. This seal would destroy itself along with all its contents if he were to die.
Soon, Hana arrived with her three ninken and joined him in their wait for the rest of the team. He helped her check whether she had packed all the necessities, and as Haruto also arrived, still sleepy, he joined them while checking his own belongings.
Suddenly, with a white cloud of smoke, Kurenai appeared in front of them with the Shunshin technique. Tekku instantly made sure to memorize her chakra signature, as she was one of the slightly more important characters of the main series whom he didn't have the chance to meet yet.
She was a fair-skinned woman, around 20 years old, with long black untamed hair reaching her upper back, and very unique red eyes with an additional ring in them. Actually quite similar to Mihawk from One Piece, just in red. She wore makeup and her standard red and white outfit from the manga, and above it, she had the standard Konoha Chunin vest.
"Are you three Inoichi-san's genin team? Team 10?" she asked as she eyed them.
"Yes, we are Team 10! It's nice to meet you, Kurenai-san," greeted Hana warmly, as Tekku and Haruto also nodded in greeting.
"Good, I hope all three of you are ready for the mission. How about we do a short introduction with each of your specializations before we quickly check your preparations?" she offered with a friendly smile, getting straight to business as they didn't have much time before they had to leave.
"I am Haruto Yamada, 13 years old, a close combat/kenjutsu user of the team, combined with lightning-style ninjutsu," introduced Haruto without hesitation, as Kurenai looked first at him.
"Hana Inuzuka, 12 years old. I specialize in my clan's jutsu and medical ninjutsu. I am the supporter of the team and assist in close combat if necessary," continued Hana next.
Lastly, Tekku calmly introduced himself, "Tekku, no last name, 8 years old. I am a certified fuinjutsu expert. I use puppets for combat and combine it with earth-style techniques. I usually employ ambush tactics since I am not bad at sensory techniques. My range while moving is 50 meters, but while standing still and focusing, I can expand it up to 2 kilometers," he finished.
"Hmm, I see quite a balanced team. Haruto-kun for close combat as the main fighter, Tekku-kun as a sensor and ambush specialist in long range with his puppets, while Hana acts as an additional sensor with her ninken and supporter/healer if necessary. Not bad. I am Kurenai Yuuhi, 20 years old. I am high chunin level in all important aspects of a shinobi, but I mostly specialize in genjutsu, where I can be considered jonin level. I believe I am quite a good addition to this team for this mission, as you have almost no genjutsu capabilities," she introduced herself with a polite smile, giving each of them a friendly nod. "How about we move for this journey in a standard 4-man line formation? Haruto in the front, followed by Tekku to give him as much sensory range as possible without being in the direct line of fire, followed by Hana covering his sides with her ninken. While I am in the back covering the three of you."
"Sounds logical," nodded Tekku, as that formation made sense. They were traveling with the other teams anyway, so it was unlikely that they would be ambushed, but that formation made quite a lot of sense.
Next, Kurenai checked over their preparations, making sure they were suitably equipped for this mission before a middle-aged ninja not far away waved his hand and signaled to everyone, "The time is up. We are setting off."
Upon hearing this, all four of them got into their respective formation and traveled in the middle part of the group of 24 shinobi. Five four-man squads were sent to reinforce the northern outpost, and only one of the teams seemed to be an elite team with high combat power consisting of two jonin and two tokubetsu jonin. But they weren't anyone he recognized as they didn't appear in canon. Hopefully, this didn't mean they were already dead, as that could have happened on this mission.
Of course, not all of them would head for the same outpost, since there were multiple stationed on the Northern Border, monitoring different strategic points with the different countries in this area. Considering the trouble that could break out with the Uchiha Clan gone, 24 shinobi and only one team of them being an elite one wasn't much fighting power if Iwa really decided to attack. Hopefully, there would be some more strong shinobi already there. After all, at least the different outpost commanders had to be jonin.
Well, the village couldn't afford to send many more shinobi, as they had just lost over a hundred from the Uchiha Clan, with their losses from the Kyuubi Attack and the Kumo Incident, they were in quite dire straits.
As soon as he left the village, his guard was on full alert as if he was entering a war zone. If the enemy wanted to make a blow to the village, taking out a reinforcement troop with a quick but effective guerrilla attack would be a good first move.
They traveled at an average chunin speed towards the Northern Border, as they had quite a few genin in the troop. At such a speed, it would take them over a day to arrive. But he wouldn't complain as he could comfortably keep up with them. His hard work paid off, as his body stats reached the level of an average chunin. He was only limited by his small size and young age, but this would be overcome with age. If he kept up his training, he would naturally surpass the high chunin level and reach the jonin level in terms of body strength.
After a day of travel, to his relief, they safely arrived in the Northern Border Area, where the teams split up in the direction of their respective posts. Their goal was the 102nd Outpost, along with the elite team. This was the main outpost directly located at the border with the Grass Country and Takigakure, where the landmass to Iwagakure was the shortest. It would also be the most likely target for any attack from Iwa.
