Why is being in the Anbu not so easy???
It all starts with Yasuke, Kakashi, and the others leaving the Leaf Village for their first mission.
When they just left the Leaf Village, Yasuke couldn't help but feel excited, as he was the only one among them leaving the village for the first time.
For an ordinary person at the age of four, leaving the Leaf Village to train is unthinkable. At that age, even successfully training in chakra and entering the ninja academy is a challenge.
Of course, children from prestigious clans like the Uchiha and Hyuga might undergo strict training at four years old, as they're from noble families.
But leaving the Leaf Village for training at four years old? Even the revered Itachi didn't have such an experience. Yet, Yasuke created this historical first.
However, to avoid Kakashi's nitpicking, Yasuke, though excited inside, maintained a calm exterior. Especially since Kakashi and Guy were leading the way, seemingly competing with each other, their pace left Yasuke no time to be distracted, let alone excited.
"Benny, Dakota, do you usually travel at this speed?"
Wiping the sweat from his forehead, Yasuke asked Benny and Dakota during a brief rest.
Hearing Yasuke's question, Benny and Dakota, behind their Anbu masks, gave a bitter smile. Benny sighed and replied, "Shadow, if we traveled like this all the time, we'd be dead tired! The captain and Turtle suddenly sped up after we set out."
"Sigh."
"It seems our mission's difficulty is about to increase!"
Hearing Benny's response, Yasuke felt helpless. It was all because of Kakashi and Guy competing with each other!
Initially, Yasuke thought the Anbu had a faster travel speed than regular ninjas, with strict speed regulations.
While recovering his strength, Genma Shiranui kindly handed out some food and water, giving them some breathing time. During their interaction, Yasuke discovered that although Genma seemed aloof like another Kakashi, he had a warm heart.
Gradually, Yasuke's relationship with Benny, Dakota, and Genma improved. But just as Yasuke was asking them about mission experiences, Kakashi, who was keeping track of time, frowned and said, "Shadow, Fire, Turtle has encountered some trouble. Go deal with it!"
"Yes!"
Responding quickly, Yasuke and Genma didn't hesitate and moved towards Guy under Kakashi's cold gaze.
However, when Yasuke arrived near Guy, hiding in the bushes, and saw the trouble Guy had encountered, he was stunned!
Because, how could that be called trouble?
Guy was simply helping some refugees in the Land of Fire, sharing food with them!
During times of war, this often happened.
Civilians from other countries, having lost their homes and families due to war, sought refuge in a major country when they had no other options.
Unfortunately, these refugees didn't know that seeking refuge in a major country was a mistake!
Take the Land of Fire, for example.
Even if regular civilians discovered refugees, they would often be hostile, and refugees could only survive in the forests, living in rags and barely finding food. If they encountered kind people, a village might take them in, but if they met indifferent ones, they would often die miserably in the forest, either from hunger or as prey to wild animals.
Of course.
If refugees encountered regular civilians or ninjas, it would be somewhat better.
In the ninja world, ninjas cannot indiscriminately kill civilians or refugees, and regular civilians cannot brandish weapons against refugees.
But if refugees encountered the Anbu, there was only one outcome: death!
At this moment, Guy's act of sharing food with refugees was a taboo in the Anbu. The Anbu's duty differed from that of regular ninjas. When encountering refugees, they would consider them foreign spies and deal with them accordingly.
But Yasuke, as a "rookie Anbu" and a "temporary worker," didn't understand Kakashi's mission requirements when he saw Guy helping those civilians.
On the other hand, Genma Shiranui, well-versed in the Anbu's duties, knew exactly what to do.
So, before Yasuke could react to Kakashi's task, Genma had already gripped a sharp senbon.
In the next second, Genma's figure disappeared from Yasuke's side!
"Could it be..."
"Is Genma going to kill them?"
Having just left the Leaf Village, Yasuke witnessed the harsh reality of the Anbu!
These were unarmed refugees, looking like ghosts returning from hell due to hunger.
But under the weight of the "mission," Genma showed no mercy. In just a few seconds, he had dealt with all the refugees. Afterward, Genma's cold gaze fell on Yasuke, causing him to shiver.
"Shadow, you handle these spies' bodies. I'll take Turtle to see the captain."
"Yes."
Nodding silently, Yasuke, with trembling hands, took the shovel Genma handed him and prepared to deal with the bodies.
However, Genma's slaughter had clearly angered Guy.
"Why did you kill them?"
"They... they were just ordinary people! Bastard!"
Shouting in anger, Guy rushed to Genma, ready to punch him.
But the punch never landed on Genma's face. Instead, Kakashi appeared suddenly, grabbing Guy's fist.
"I've told you before, Turtle, you are completely unsuitable for Anbu work! Look at Shadow; he performed much better than you!"
"As Anbu, our work is different from regular ninjas."
"So Turtle, if you really can't handle it, then just leave!"
As he spoke, Kakashi's cold gaze fell on Yasuke, directly instructing, "Shadow, make sure to finish off each body!"
"Leave no one alive!"
"Yes, captain!"
Having already dug a pit with the shovel, Yasuke struggled to overcome his psychological barriers. Unexpectedly, Kakashi gave another cruel order.
Yet, after Kakashi's harsh command, what surprised both Guy and Kakashi was that the usually defiant Yasuke actually started mechanically finishing off the bodies. With a cold demeanor, Yasuke stabbed each body three times before throwing them into the pit.
At that moment, watching Yasuke's mechanical actions and his gradually cold gaze, Kakashi felt a different kind of emotion.
Especially seeing Yasuke handle the aftermath calmly without trembling, Kakashi squinted slightly and ordered again, "Yasuke, there's a refugee camp 500 meters to the right."
"I think you know what the mission is, right?"
