Chapitre 19: Feia veiled Part 1
The children of Onicent tore their way around the palace causing havoc where ever they went. Indeed a good portion of his energy went to ensuring nothing was destroyed but them. Only Feia was quiet and well behaved, she preferred to spend her time sitting with Airabella her head tucked under her mothers arm. The other siblings had began to show more and more colour in their skin, but Feia had a complexion that mixed the colours of her parents, she could almost pass for a human.
On this particular night Onicent was hosting his brother and his brother's wife, and he needed to be appear well in control. So he gathered his three other children together and presented them with a challenge. Onicent created a small animal, which he called a rabbit, and then set it loose in the woods around the palace, he promised the child to find it a reward. Epis, Amos and Enisia were eager and agreed to this game. Only Feia was hesitant, but Onicent sent her with them.
As soon as the siblings had gotten past the palace doors they split up. Amos headed into the denser trees, Epis towards the open meadow and finally Enisia was left with Feia. Enisia wasn't unkind and saw her sister was fearful, so she lead her into the trees and told her to wait at that spot for a moment while Enisia searched near a small pond. That was when Feia heard sounds in the trees behind her.
There was a loud sound of footsteps through the forest and Feia felt herself sink back into the tree cover, but too late, for the humans had spotted her. At once Feia saw they were armed and began to run, the humans yelled and chased after her. She didn't catch their words. That was when Feia, in her desperation to escape, tripped and fell to the ground. The humans caught up to her, a trio of young men, they seemed delighted to have found her, and they spoke excitedly to each other. Feia got bits and snatches, something about revenge, for what she wasn't sure. Feia stayed calm and began to stand up, however with a flash of a blade she found herself back on the ground, everything was dark.
Enisia was not far away when she heard a horrible scream, at once she recognized Feia's voice and rushed back to her. Enisia had no weapon and was unprepared to meet Feia's attackers, who had pressed in close to Feia.
"Let her go!" Enisia screamed as she charged them. One of them slashed at her and caught the sleeve of her dress, Enisia felt a trickle of blood down her arm.
The humans froze though, Feia looked human in many ways, but Enisia was unmistakable as being a young godling. In fear of what they had done they turned and ran, but Amos had finally arrived, having heard Feia too. He had drawn his sword and before long all three humans were dead at his feet.
That was when Epis arrived on the scene. He looked between his two sisters, and his brother standing other the bodies of the humans. Carefully he knelt down beside Feia, when he turned her over all three siblings gasped, for the whole side of her face had been slashed and was bleeding. Enisia's arm dripped with blood as well, and seeing that, Epis felt a strange sensation in his hands.
"Give me your arm." He told his twin sister, she held out her arm and tenderly he ran a hand down it. The wound seemed to shrink together and heal beneath his touch.
"Can you help her," Enisia begged him. Feia was stirring feebly.
He knelt down to her and stroked her face, the wound seemed to improve but would not go away completely. In place of it was a horrible scar.
"That's the best I can do," Epis looked at his hands and saw them glowing. He knew he was the patron of healing now.
"We'll carry her to the palace, father will be able to help." Amos had come over to them leaving the dead humans behind. Carefully he gathered his sister's tiny body in his huge arms. Enisia and Epis followed silently.
Somewhere off in the dark a rabbit still hopped.
