40.32% My Target Is A... Succubus? / Chapter 25: 25

Chapitre 25: 25

Akujin arrived at the shop, and initially, the shop owner disregarded his request. However, his mind changed the moment he saw who was making the request. It was Akujin, and the shop owner's eyes widened in horror.

He immediately complied, realizing the gravity of the situation. Unfortunately, this turned out to be a dead end because Kenzo had already taken this into consideration. The cameras were deactivated, or rather, Kenzo had jammed all electronic devices within a certain radius.

That's why he wasn't too concerned when the ladies suggested calling an ambulance, even though it was just an act.

Kenzo had just proven to the shop owner that he wasn't just meticulous, but he also possessed the ability to plan ahead. Akujin grinned, impressed by Kenzo's skills. However, there was something the assassin couldn't have predicted.

If Kenzo had a device that could jam cameras, it meant that investigating the affected cameras in the area would lead them right to him.

The dons underestimated Akujin, thinking he was slow because that was the only side he had shown them. But becoming the Oyabun required more than just strength; he had to be capable in every aspect.

Akujin knew what the others were planning, but he wasn't going to let them have their way. He picked up his phone and made a call. Within ten minutes, the area was filled with Yakuza members. "Boss! I have gathered the boys!" said a man with dyed white hair on the right side and black hair on the left. He had piercings all over his face, bearing the trademark Yakuza tattoo, but he didn't look as menacing as the others.

Despite being in his late twenties, he had a gentle, child-like face and a slender build. Akujin didn't respond to his men's voices because he had made progress.

They combed the area quickly, confirming Akujin's suspicions. The jamming device only affected cameras within its range, returning them to normal once it left the vicinity.

This happened to some cameras, but there were certain shops that used an older variant which fried the camera when jammed. The outdated motherboard couldn't handle the interference, causing the system to crash. Akujin knew that there was no way Kenzo wouldn't anticipate this.

While Kenzo had shown his intellect, Akujin wasn't a novice either. It didn't take them long to establish a trail.

"What's going on? Did something happen?" a voice could be heard not too far from them. However, the men were too focused on their current situation and remained oblivious to it.

"I don't know, but we should probably get back," another voice responded.

These two people were Mizumi and Hitomi.

Mizumi's chest made it hard for any man to ignore her, and a few couldn't help but glance at her. However, that was the extent of their attention.

They knew they couldn't make a move, or their boss would punish them. When Akujin set his eyes on a target, he wouldn't stop until he took them down. It was a primal instinct he had honed over the years. He realized that the presence of the Oni must mean that the person they were after was injured and in a vulnerable state, which turned out to be true.

Akujin didn't talk much. Instead, he chose to set up a perimeter around the area, using people who wouldn't draw attention. He gave them one order: DO NOT ENGAGE UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCE! He wasn't arrogant enough to believe his men could handle such a skilled killer. He humbly admitted that even he would have trouble dealing with him. However, Kenzo's injured state already tipped the scales in Akujin's favor, although he doubted it would make a significant difference.

Akujin didn't care how skilled Kenzo was. How did he manage to escape the Death Squad with all their assassins present? Did they let him escape? This possibility lingered in his mind, but he couldn't dwell on it too much at the moment. He was growing suspicious, especially considering the news of the Oni killing one of their own before Kenzo escaped. However, this information wasn't taken seriously because there was a vast gap in strength between the top three killers in the organization and the rest. The difference was so immense that it seemed the scale was broken.

The only reason Kenzo escaped was that they didn't try to kill him. He might be the best killer, but that didn't make him invincible. Akujin reveled in the thrill of the hunt, but for now, this would suffice.

Rean was gleeful as she left her father's office and strolled down the hallway. It was evident that she was a spoiled brat who always got what she wanted. Considering her father's position and the fact that she often resorted to blackmailing him, it was almost comical how she went about getting her way. It was an unnecessary stunt, but for Rean, it was a means of earning her father's respect.

She would never do anything to harm the family, as her siblings would surely retaliate. Family always came first, and they were bound together until death. The absence of her siblings was due to their responsibilities in managing different aspects of their father's business in various parts of Japan.

As Rean walked, Alex caught a glimpse of her and felt a gulp of nervousness. He knew she didn't appreciate others daring to look at her. Alex immediately averted his gaze, but it was too late. Rean noticed him, and her face revealed her disgust. This display showed her lack of humility, as she believed that anyone beneath her should not dare to look at her.

However, her father had made it clear that she couldn't harm anyone who worked for him just because she didn't like them. There were rules in place, and Rean was not exempt from them. Little did they know how this seemingly insignificant interaction would impact the future.
