I only glimpsed at him so as not to draw any attention to us. Jude still held my hand tightly as he downed his wine, and I couldn't help but peek at his Adam's apple, moving with each gulp.
And I wasn't alone, the girl in front of me was completely starstruck.
After emptying the glass, Jude strained his arm in between a few guests' shoulders, placing the empty glass on the waiter's tablet, some steps away.
His now empty hand reached into his right jeans pocket, and bringing the hand that still grabbed mine behind his back, he put the lighter in my palm.
The whole operation was over in a few seconds, and I couldn't suppress a sigh of relief.
"Do you want a drink?" Jude asked the girl.
Thomas, who had just finished his talk on his side, turned and seemed pleased that his son had finally taken the initiative to go away.
"Yes." The girl smiled gorgeously and tried to grab Jude's arm, but he had already turned and left through the people.
