I instantly felt refreshed as we stepped into the manner and the colder air brushed against my skin. I don't know what I would do if we were sitting stuck in south hollow as the weather grew hotter, I would have probably lost my mind in more ways than one.
"So when will I be getting grand children?" My mother's sudden words almost made me trip on thin air.
"M~mother!" I shouted in embarrassment while both Scarlett and Aria blushed in response.
"What?" My mother glanced toward me with an innocent expression as if she hadn't said anything wrong.
"You already have five fiancés" She counted her fingers making me confused about her numbering.
"Three" I corrected her only to receive a glare from the petite princess that cutely tightened her grip on my hand.
"Four" I spoke quickly once more watching Aria smile with a bubbly expression.
"What about the duchess" My mother crossed her arms causing her the sweaty orbs of flesh to overflow.
"She's not…" I honestly didn't have anything to say mostly because my mother wasn't technically wrong.
I still hadn't had the talk with Alexia that I wanted to but it was undoubtedly clear that I wanted to make her my wife. Although I was nervous to propose to her i didn't think that she would reject me, So I guess at my mother's counting was spot on.
"Wait until I actually get married" I mumbled staring ahead and feeling even more embarrassed than before.
"You better hurry because I'm getting old and want to see my grandchildren before I die" My mother spoke seriously forcing me to start thinking about such things.
'Kids….' I never imagined having a child of my own but the thought of a mini version of Ella, Nessa, Alexia, Scarlett, or Aria running around made me smile.
"Mating season hasn't ended yet" I flinched when I heard Scarlett's soft voice whispering into my ear just low enough that the others couldn't hear.
"…." I glanced to the side with a racing heart as I saw Scarlett staring at me with burning crimson eyes and blushed cheeks.
Eventually we reached the dining room which was already set up with lunch. My eyes landed on the platters of food first before landing on the only chair that was occupied, I felt guilt eating away at my chest as I saw Nessa nibbling on a muffin like a rabbit.
"Nessa sweetie" My mother smiled brightly causing Nessa to look over like she was caught in the act.
"M~mother" Nessa smiled gently as my mother walked past her and brushed her hand across her head.
"Good morning" I didn't hesitate to walk over and press a kiss against Nessa's cheeks making her blush.
"It's not morning" She replied but I didn't argue with her as I took the seat just to her side.
"You look beautiful today" I slid my hand into her lap and entangled our fingers feeling the guilt in my heart burning.
"T~thank you" Nessa smiled sweetly and leaned over to press a kiss against my cheek with her plump lips.
Aria took the seat next to me while Scarlett sat next to my mother still on a mission to win her favor. I made sure not to ignore Aria but I kept most of my attention on Nessa. I brushed the silver hair out of her face, Complemented her and even cut up her food and fed it to her. Although Aria and Scarlett looked jealous I didn't stop seeing Nessa's bubbling happiness.
"I was thinking" I spoke as I finished my glass of what tasted like some type of strawberry juice.
"There's this restaurant in the western district that me and Ella discovered a couple years ago" I leaned toward Nessa who looked toward me with a tilted head.
"Why don't we go there together?" I asked with a small smile as I saw Nessa's pointy ears tinting pink.
"L~like a date?" She muttered and I quickly nodded in response while tightening my grip on her hand.
"Of course" Nessa smiled bashfully and we stared into each others until we were interrupted by a cough.
"Baby I know you love your fiancé but you should show your mother some more attention" My mother pouted from across the table with Scarlett and Aria matching her expression.
"Sorry" I apologized and started to converse with the others while keeping Nessa's fingers entangled in my one.
'It's a good day' I smiled gently as I looked at four of the most important woman in my life.
'….' Yet I could still feel a pit at the bottom of my stomach that hadn't gone away since I had spoken to that bastard earlier.
My chest twisted wishing that I could pause time so that I wouldn't have to see anything, I could only hope that it would end quickly. The day had come to uphold the first request that Leon had made of me.
