Adeline POV
Zale returned to the center of the arena, as did Yeal. I took a deep breath and allowed my energy to flow around Zale, cloaking him in my pheromones.
He took a deep breath and let loose a blood-curdling roar that would fuel nightmares for many witnessing it. He transformed, wolf no longer small and meek, but gigantic, nightmarish, and powerful.
Dark wisps of ebony smoke trailed from his fur as though he were a smoldering fire and unearthly beast. Yeal, whose wolf was a monster in its own right, staggered back a few steps at the sight before him.
I felt the maddened wolf try to break free and take control over Zale’s mind as it recognized Yeal as its enemy, but I held it in place. I could feel it struggle and batter against my energy and Zale’s mind but it was unable to break through the defence. We could do this, all Zale needed was a few minutes and the fight would be over, no one would be harmed except for the one who had challenged him.
