Chapitre 3: Xia Yiwei
Xu Anyi placed one hand over the paper and slowly looked up at the two of them, "Give me the pen."
Lu Yuzhe and Xia Yiwei couldn't hide the surprise on their faces, and it took them several seconds before Lu Yuzhe scrambled to grab a pen and push it over to Xu Anyi, who leisurely began playing around with the pen, clicking it several times.
Lu Yuzhe's heart was pounding with excitement already, and he furrowed his eyebrows together, "Xu Anyi, hurry up. We don't have much time."
Xu Anyi stopped clicking the pen and frowned. We? Did he mean himself and Xia Yiwei?
"Why? Do you two have to rush to the county clerk's office to get your marriage certificate today before it closes?" She frowned slightly, "You should probably pick another date. Our divorce date doesn't seem like a very auspicious day for getting married."
"Xu Anyi!" Lu Yuzhe slammed one hand onto the table, "You cannot blame me for not liking you."
"Then can I not blame you for lying to me all these years and now sending me into jail with your lies?! Why did you lie in court?!"
Lu Yuzhe's eyes darted around the room nervously and he lowered his voice as he said, "I didn't lie."
"You know better than anyone if you did or not," Xu Anyi said softly, her voice like a ghost ringing in Lu Yuzhe's ears.
Xu Anyi looked at the divorce papers and her fingers clenched around the pen tightly, her nails digging into the palm of her hand.
She did not want to stay married to this piece of trash any longer either!
Xu Anyi clicked the pen one more time and briskly signed her name onto the bottom of the document, closing the folder. Then, she threw the pen and the folder at them through the thin opening at the bottom of the glass, "Get out."
Lu Yuzhe was pleasantly surprised that the process was this easy, and he opened the folder to check Xu Anyi's signature before putting it away, quickly standing up as he turned around to leave.
However, Xia Yiwei pulled him back, saying softly, "I have some things to say to Anyi. You go first without me. I will meet you outside in a minute."
Lu Yuzhe frowned, glancing at Xu Anyi, who had her eyes closed now, "Will you be okay?"
Xia Yiwei nodded as she let go of Lu Yuzhe's hand. Lu Yuzhe hesitantly walked out of the room, closing the door behind him.
Once the door had shut again, Xia Yiwei turned back around, her long and straight black hair falling behind her back like silk. She crossed her arms together, sitting down on the chair across from Xu Anyi, her soft and gentle expression completely gone now.
Xu Anyi slowly opened her eyes, and the two of them stared at each other for several seconds, neither of them backing down.
"Xia Yiwei. . ." Xu Anyi spoke slowly, narrowing her eyes, "Who would have guessed?"
Xia Yiwei had large round eyes like a young doe and soft pink lips that had a beautiful peach color. Her pale skin always seemed to glow and since she was a kid, she always had a thin body image that made her appear very fragile, making boys want to protect and care for her. Overall, her appearance was soft and gentle.
However, now, she looked nothing like her usual self as she glared at Xu Anyi with hatred and a hint of jealousy, although she tried to hide it under an arrogant and victorious smile.
There was a moment of silence and then she suddenly burst out laughing, a sinister and triumphant laugh, "Yes, yes. Who would have guessed. . . that I was the one who personally killed your parents."
She stopped laughing as she focused on Xu Anyi's reaction, and seeing the surprise on Xu Anyi's face only made her more happy as she began laughing again.
Xu Anyi could not hide her shock as her heart skipped a beat. She could tell that Xia Yiwei wasn't lying. . . This was her true self.
She had figured out by now that Xia Yiwei wasn't some good or innocent girl, and she knew that Xia Yiwei probably had something to do with Lu Yuzhe's lies and her marriage, but her parents' death-
"I dressed up as you, and we must have looked so alike that your parents didn't even notice until I stabbed them from the back!" She whispered as a sparkle of excitement flashed past her eyes.
"Why? Why?!" Xu Anyi felt tears beginning to boil inside her eyes. She didn't want to cry. She wasn't going to cry in front of her.
"I hate you!" Xia Yiwei suddenly screamed, "Why do you get everything from birth?! Good parents, money, beauty, good grades, love, and even Yuzhe! The spotlight is always on you! Even though I am always standing right next to you, no one cares about me!"
Xia Yiwei jumped up from the chair, "You think you are so superior?" She chuckled, "Well guess what? You have nothing now. Your parents. . . Yuzhe. Yuzhe, he likes me! He never liked you since the beginning of your marriage, he likes me!"
She continued to laugh, happiness emanating from her as she spoke.
"Oh!" She suddenly exclaimed as she placed one hand over her mouth in surprise, "And I almost forgot to tell you! Lu Yuzhe knows about all of this too!"
Xu Anyi felt as if another knife was stabbed into her heart. Even though she had tried to remain calm since the two of them arrived, there was no way she could hide her emotions anymore.
"But he wants to protect me! So it's too bad. . . You will have to be the sacrificial lamb." Xia Yiwei giggled, twirling around in her white dress, "Oh how happy I feel right now!"
"Xia Yiwei!!" Xu Anyi screamed as she jumped up from her chair, lunging at the glass partition as she pounded at it, her face red with fury.
Xia Yiwei continued to laugh until the door was suddenly pushed open, probably from hearing all the noise Xu Anyi was making, and she quickly stopped as she ran towards the door, her expression changing instantly to a scared little bunny.
Lu Yuzhe came in and Xia Yiwei quickly grabbed onto Lu Yuzhe's arm, pretending to look scared.
"Xia Yiwei, you b****!" Xu Anyi bellowed, her fist red already as she continued to slam it against the glass, tears running down her face.
Lu Yuzhe looked once more at Xu Anyi with disdain all over his face before he hugged onto Xia Yiwei and walked with her out of the room.
Then, the door behind Xu Anyi opened as two guards rushed in and pulled her away from the glass forcibly, trying to control her as she continued to scream and fling her arms and legs around, unable to remain composed any longer.
Xu Anyi's vision became blurry from her own tears as she was brought back to her prison cell and the door to the outside world closed, leaving her alone in this darkness again. . . for five years.
