Chapitre 60: The Birthday Party (2)

The smile on Xia Yiwei's face dissolved for a moment as her hands froze in surprise, but after a few seconds of silence, she quickly regained her composure as she squeezed through the crowd and walked over, calling her name very loud so everyone could hear, "Anyi, is that you?"

Xu Anyi locked eyes with Xia Yiwei, who was wearing a beautiful, long flowy white dress. It looked almost like a wedding dress, but there was a pink bowtie on the back of the dress, which had long ribbons that almost reached the ground.

Her straight hair fell over her shoulders, and her pale complexion and natural makeup made her appear like an angel.

However, once she walked over to Xu Anyi, all the sparkle that had originally been on her seemed to disappear as everyone's eyes couldn't help but be drawn to the person standing next to her.

Lu Yuzhe also moved over with Xia Yiwei, and it took a few seconds before he was able to recognize Xu Anyi. His eyes widened in surprise. He did not expect to see her here today, and she looked. . .

Lu Yuzhe had always known that Xu Anyi was beautiful, but he did not remember her being this. . . attractive.

The dress accentuated her beautiful figure, which was skinny but curvy in just the right places. Her face had always been small, but she had lost some fat in prison, so it looked even more tiny, which in turn brought the attention to her large eyes.

Since she was young, people would tell her that her eyes resembled a fox in some ways when she looked at people, and after growing up, she knew how to turn that into an advantage. Her eyes seemed to tell a story and could draw anyone in, which was another one of her abilities in modeling.

Lu Yuzhe could not take his eyes off of her, as his gaze slowly moved up her face and up to her eyes. He took a step back when he realized that she was looking back at him with those eyes that could make any person go crazy, and he felt his heart skip a beat before he quickly broke out of his thoughts and pulled his eyes away.

He frowned slightly as he thought back to the last time he had seen her. He remembered seeing her at Yihua once a while ago, and he remembered that she had looked plain and unattractive.

What happened? How did she change so much? And she looked even prettier than he remembered five years ago. . .

Xia Yiwei turned around after standing next to Xu Anyi, and her expression changed slightly when she saw that the entire crowd was not looking at her, but at Xu Anyi.

She cleared her throat and pulled Xu Anyi over to the crowd, looking at her, "The party started half an hour ago, I thought you weren't coming!"

Xu Anyi merely smiled and didn't say anything.

After a few seconds, people in the crowd slowly began talking again as one person stepped forward, knitting her eyebrows together, "Yiwei. . . Isn't this Xu Anyi?"

"Xu Anyi?!"

Most of the people here today were from the upper class circle, meaning they definitely knew or heard of the name Xu Anyi. Even after five years, the name still rang a bell for many people.

Plus, many of the guests here today were friends with Xia Yiwei or Lu Yuzhe, meaning they were probably also "friends" with Xu Anyi five years ago.

"Xu Anyi? The one from that Xu family. . ." Several people exclaimed, looking back over at Xu Anyi. Many of them had not seen her before, but they definitely knew of the name.

Who wouldn't know the past "prettiest woman of City A", the precious pearl of the prestigious Xu family, but more importantly, the princess who fell from heaven and suddenly disappeared?

Although most people here did not know exactly what happened to the Xu family or what happened to her, they did know that she suddenly disappeared and her husband, Lu Yuzhe, refused to let anyone talk about her.

The person who spoke was Yi Tingting, Xu Anyi's best friend and the daughter of the Yi family. She squeezed through the crowd and scrunched her nose up when she saw the familiar face that she had been jealous of her entire life.

She looked over at Xia Yiwei, "Didn't she-"

Xia Yiwei quickly grabbed onto her hand, signaling for her to stop. Yi Tingting was one of the few people who knew about what happened to Xu Anyi and the Xu family, and she only knew because Xia Yiwei accidentally told her once.

Xia Yiwei did not know why, but Lu Yuzhe had made it clear to her to keep the Xu family's accident a secret. She wanted everyone to know that Xu Anyi was a prisoner and went to jail, but she also knew that she was not innocent herself, so it would also be better for her for fewer people to know.

Lu Yuzhe also walked over, standing next to Xia Yiwei, "Yiwei, why is she here?"

Xia Yiwei smiled sweetly, "I saw her the other day, so I invited her."

She looked over at Xu Anyi with a pitiful smile, "After all, Anyi used to be in our circle and now she is back. It's been so many years already, so I thought she might like to come to a party."

Xu Anyi couldn't help but scorn at Xia Yiwei's fakeness, and she crossed her arms together, scanning the crowd to see if there was anyone that looked familiar.

Lu Yuzhe looked over at Xu Anyi and tried to calm his heart down as he looked back at his fiancee, grabbing onto her hand, "You are too nice, Yiwei."

Xia Yiwei smiled and did not say anything more. She walked back to the center of the crowd where she had been standing, but when she realized that none of the attention was on her anymore, her teeth clenched together.

She cleared her throat and glanced over at Yi Tingting, who immediately received her cue and exclaimed loudly, "Yiwei, your necklace is so pretty! Where did you get it from?"

"Oh, Yuzhe gave it to me for my birthday," Xia Yiwei said with a blush, and people looked back over at her.

"You are so lucky, Yiwei!" One of the girls exclaimed, and another guest quickly responded.

"What do you mean? Lu Yuzhe is lucky! Our Yiwei is pretty, nice, innocent, and has a successful career! I'm even envious of Yuzhe!" The girl who spoke was another one of Xia Yiwei's friends, but she did not know of Xu Anyi's past drama.

"Stop teasing me," Xia Yiwei said with a blush and then looked around the large balcony, "Everyone, it's getting late already! We should start the party. There is food over there if you are hungry. Yuzhe hired a Michelin star chef, so eat a lot."

The band started playing again and everyone slowly began walking across the balcony, forming their own small groups as people began talking.

Xu Anyi looked around and found an empty corner to the side of the pool, where she grabbed a glass of wine and stood there, slowly taking a sip every few seconds.

To the other side, Xia Yiwei stood amongst a large group of people, who crowded around her.

They talked about random things, but most of them weren't that close, and they ran out of things to talk about before long.

There was a pause and then one of the guys who was standing there raised an eyebrow, looking over at the sparkling red color coming from the dark corner, "Yiwei, who is that?"
