Chapitre 13: Entering the Room
— Present
"Si Mu!" Xu Anyi called, her voice tired and slightly rough after not drinking any water for so long.
He looked up from inside the elevator, and their eyes met for a second before he looked away again.
Xu Anyi tried to calm her heartbeat down as she opened her mouth to speak, but before she could, she heard him say, "Come up."
His voice was cold and commanding, and Xu Anyi furrowed her brows together in confusion.
She stood there for a few seconds, not moving. After a while, he looked over at her again, raising an eyebrow expectingly.
Just as the elevator door began closing again, Xu Anyi understood what he meant as she quickly jumped into the elevator, standing in the corner a distance away from him.
The elevator door shut this time and the elevator began going up instantly. The entire elevator ride was silent as Xu Anyi looked down at the shiny golden floor and Si Mu looked straight ahead at his reflection in the golden elevator doors, his expression cold and blank as always.
The assistant had never been this confused before as he glanced at his boss and then over at the female worker, wondering who she was. Did his boss know this worker? How did this little worker know his boss's name? And full name! Why did his boss allow this worker to enter the elevator? He was so confused! But he could not ask any questions!
The elevator came to a stop, and Xu Anyi looked up to see the number '28' on the screen on top of the elevator door.
Yes, there was a 28th floor in Yihua, but it was a private floor that the normal elevators could not reach. She remembered the first time she had come to the Yihua Club with Xia Yiwei many years ago. . . Xia Yiwei had told her how there were rumors that the entire 28th floor belonged to Si Mu, since the Yihua Club itself belonged to the Si family.
It seems like the rumors were true. . .
Once the doors opened, Si Mu walked out of the elevator and Xu Anyi quickly followed behind him. The layout of the 28th floor was different from the other floors since it was completely private, and they reached the large door at the very end of the hallway.
The doors were larger than the normal hotel room doors, and there was a dark keypad on the door handle. Si Mu placed his finger onto the pad, and there was a click as the door opened.
He walked in without looking back, but Xu Anyi paused for a second, turning around to see the assistant right behind her. She looked at him, but he had a blank expression, just like his boss.
She looked around the empty floor, unsure of whether she should continue following him into the room. It had been a spur of a moment decision when she called his name, and she still did not know why she had stopped him and followed him all the way here.
There was no way she was here to reminisce about the past with him, as they were not close and the only time they had actually met was eight years ago, when he came to her house that one time to propose to her.
After that, she had never seen him again.
So was she here to build a relationship with him?
Si Mu. . . He was now the official youngest President of the Si Organization, the set Si heir. She had read about him even in the newspapers in prison, about his genius business tactics and his unmatched power in Country Z.
She thought back to her encounters the past day. . . By herself, she would only be stepped on by others. She had nothing and no way to do anything - to get back everything she had lost.
However, if Si Mu-
"Miss, are you going to go inside?" The assistant asked from behind her.
Xu Anyi's eyes darted around the empty hallway and she clenched her fists together. There was no going back now. No matter what was waiting inside this room for her, this was her only possible way out.
Xu Anyi took a deep breath and slowly stepped into the dark room.
— Ten minutes later
Xu Anyi blinked a few times as she looked at the man sitting on the couch, who had sat there for the past ten minutes already, flipping through the pile of folders on the table, not acknowledging her at all.
Um. . . This was not what she had expected at all.
At once, Xu Anyi felt a little stupid for all the mental preparation she had done to enter this room, thinking that this scary man was a monster that would do something to her or something. It seems like she had overthought. . .
They continued to stand in silence as Xu Anyi stood there, also frozen like a statue.
She looked at him. He had removed his suit jacket, and the simple white shirt inside easily revealed his strong and well-built upper body. Since she had last seen him eight years ago, his overall features did not seem to change much, yet the feeling he gave off was completely different now.
Of course, the eight years of age still showed in his more mature facial features and more well-developed body, but something else that changed was the cold and dominating feeling he gave off now, even while just sitting there.
Xu Anyi couldn't remember very clearly anymore, but eight years ago, he seemed much more approachable. Perhaps this change came along with gaining more power. . .
As time passed, the moonlight began shining into the room and onto him from the window behind, illuminating his features. He had ink black hair, long and narrow black eyes, a tall nose, and thin lips.
In all her life, she had seen many handsome men, but none could compare to him. Xu Anyi even blanked out for a second as she wondered how a man could possibly look so handsome.
However, he suddenly closed the folder he was holding and picked up another one as he began reading, which snapped Xu Anyi out of her trance.
She took a deep breath as she took a step forward, deciding to make a move, as it was obvious that he was not going to speak first.
"President Si-"
