He was out of bed before she had the chance to argue with him, quickly pulling on pants and throwing on a sweatshirt then leaving the room as if there were a fire inside.

She sat up, all sleepiness gone from her eyelids. "It's all this stress that both of us have been under and still are," she sighed. "This can't be good for his health." Her irritation grew with the ticking of the clock on the wall.
