Under the steaming heat from the pots, fine beads of sweat emerged on Zheng Cailian's forehead.
Not only were the fine hairs on her forehead dampened, but the collar of her shirt also clung tightly to the soft flesh of her chest, peculiarly alluring.
From Wang Hao's perspective, Zheng Cailian's chest appeared especially perky.
It made Wang Hao's breathing quicken.
As if feeling the intense gaze from Wang Hao, Zheng Cailian's delicate body shuddered, and her heart felt as chaotic as a frightened deer.
But she didn't say much and continued cooking quietly.
Before long, three homemade stir-fries were served on the table.
Wang Hao called Ya Ya over, and the three of them sat down together quickly.
"Haozi, do you want a drink? I've got some white liquor at home, it's been many years, and no one has touched it," Zheng Cailian asked with a smile.
"Sure!" Wang Hao replied without pretense, going along with the host's offer.
With that, Zheng Cailian brought over a jar of aged liquor from the stove room, its top still sealed with mud.
"This is the liquor Ya Ya's dad made himself before; it shouldn't be bad. Give it a try," Zheng Cailian said after breaking the seal and poured a large cup for Wang Hao.
Looking at the yellowed white liquor in the glass, Wang Hao took a deep breath and was instantly met with a fragrance that was striking to the nose.
Wang Hao lifted the cup and took a small sip. It was smooth, went straight down his throat, and upon reaching his stomach, he felt a warm sensation that made his tired body completely relax.
"Good liquor!" Wang Hao exclaimed in admiration.
Hearing his praise, Zheng Cailian smiled and told him to drink slowly, then picked up a strip of meat with chopsticks for Ya Ya.
But Ya Ya blinked her big, watery eyes and stared straight at the white liquor in Wang Hao's cup.
Amused, Wang Hao asked, "Ya Ya, with that greedy look, do you want to try some too?"
Ya Ya nodded naively, thinking to herself that the liquor must be very tasty because it smelled so good.
Wang Hao passed the cup to Ya Ya, and after she took a brief sniff, her face fell at once, and she waved her hand repeatedly, saying, "Uncle Hao is bad, this liquor definitely can't be for kids!"
"Ha ha..."
At her words, Wang Hao and Zheng Cailian both burst into laughter.
Chuckling, Wang Hao said, "When Ya Ya gets married, you can drink, but right now, you are still young, and indeed you can't drink!"
"I won't! Just the smell of it is enough to make me dizzy; even when I grow up, I won't drink it!" Ya Ya pouted, her face full of aversion.
After stopping her laughter, Zheng Cailian said softly, "Alright, Ya Ya, eat your food. Uncle Hao is just teasing you. Children really shouldn't drink alcohol; it'll make you less clever!"
That being said, Zheng Cailian's cooking skills were truly remarkable.
Even though they were just simple home-cooked dishes, they had it all—color, aroma, and taste—not losing to any restaurant chef.
"Haozi, take it easy, nobody's fighting you for it," Zheng Cailian said with a glance at the wolfing-down Wang Hao, her eyes filled with tenderness.
"Cailian Sister, your cooking is simply sublime. If you opened a restaurant in the city, you'd make a killing!"
"Get out of here, it's not as exaggerated as you say. Besides, opening a restaurant in the city isn't as easy as you make it sound."
Zheng Cailian spoke, her expression inevitably darkened.
Now, all she hoped for was that her daughter Ya Ya could grow up safely and get into a good university someday.
But whenever she thought about the enormous expense of raising a child, she felt as if a stone had sunk into her heart, pressing so heavily she could hardly breathe.
If only there was a man at home, but unfortunately, Ya Ya's father had been out of touch for many years.
As a widow, who could she count on?
The rough men who often flirted with her were merely lusting after her body. Once she grew old and lost her looks, she feared her days might be even harder than now...
At this moment, Wang Hao had already poured the cup of strong liquor, about three ounces, into his stomach, feeling woozy in his head.
After Ya Ya finished her meal and went back to her room to continue her homework, he looked up at Zheng Cailian.
"Sister Cailian, why do you look so awful? Are you feeling unwell?" Wang Hao asked with a frown.
Hearing this, Zheng Cailian snapped back to reality.
She squeezed out a smile and said, "No, not at all, Haozi, you eat your meal, don't worry about me."
"Sister Cailian, there are always more solutions than problems. Don't overthink things. After all, being happy is one day, and being unhappy is also one day," Wang Hao hesitated for two seconds before comforting her.
"I know, I haven't thought too much about it. I just hope Ya Ya can grow up safely," Zheng Cailian nodded gently, the corners of her mouth filled with bitterness.
Wang Hao had graduated from university, and of course, he understood the difficulties of a mother and child alone. He poured himself another drink and took a big gulp.
Then, with liquid courage, he said, "Sister Cailian, you've indeed had a tough time these years. Have you ever thought about finding another man? It would be good for both you and Ya Ya."
"I'm a divorced woman with Ya Ya. Who would find me desirable?" Zheng Cailian replied with self-mockery.
Wang Hao frowned, put down his chopsticks, and said seriously, "So what if you're divorced, so what if you have a child? In our Chen Village, who doesn't know you're an excellent woman, Sister Cailian? I don't know about others, but I adore you!"
Upon hearing these words, Zheng Cailian was struck as if by lightning.
After being stunned for several seconds, she turned her head away with a quivering voice, "Haozi, don't make fun of me."
"Sister Cailian, I'm not joking!" Wang Hao said urgently, his expression utterly sincere.
Being educated in the city, he didn't hold such feudal thoughts and wouldn't care about idle gossip.
Zheng Cailian was beautiful, kind-hearted, and capable of managing a household frugally; any man would be lucky to marry her and would be secretly delighted.
"Haozi, I'm several years older than you, and you're a university student. You'll definitely be able to find a better wife in the future."
"No, I think Sister Cailian is the best woman besides my mom!"
"Haozi, you're drunk!"
"I'm not drunk!"
As he said that, Wang Hao suddenly stood up and pulled Zheng Cailian into his embrace.
The next second, he bit down on Zheng Cailian's red lips.
Instantly, a warm and soft sensation flooded into their minds.
Wang Hao, seizing the moment, pried open Zheng Cailian's teeth and began to suck crazily...
