Chapitre 1649: -1630- Don't deserve

At this moment, Leafa was absolutely furious.

During the previous tournament, after a fierce battle with Sigurd, he had invited Leafa to join his team despite his loss. Back then, Leafa had not agreed without conditions.

Leafa, who valued her freedom, stayed in the game to fly freely and act as she wished. Because of this, she wasn't actively involved in territorial disputes or racial power struggles. Additionally, she had responsibilities in the real world, so when she joined Sigurd's team, she set two conditions.

The first condition was that she would only participate in team activities when she had time. The second was that she could leave the team anytime she wanted.

At the time, Sigurd had agreed without hesitation.

That was why Leafa had the confidence to leave whenever she wanted, with only a message to explain her departure. Otherwise, leaving without permission and without meeting in person would have indeed been rude.

Now, Leafa intended to honor that agreement.

And what did he say in response?

He accused her of being irresponsible for leaving on her own.

He said she was acting selfishly.

Even worse, he claimed that she was unworthy of being called a Sylph.

At this point, Leafa, no matter how indifferent she normally was, couldn't suppress her anger.

Still, she didn't want to waste more words with Sigurd.

Just as Leafa was about to turn and leave without hesitation, a mocking voice rang out beside her.

"What a convenient excuse."

At the sound of this blatant ridicule, Leafa was slightly stunned. The people around them were equally surprised, and even the two companions behind Sigurd were taken aback.

The owner of the voice was, of course, Rozen.

"So this is the Sylph lord's assistant?" Rozen folded his arms and stood to the side, looking at Sigurd with a half-smile. "What a spectacle."

The sarcasm and disdain in his tone were unmistakable.

Only now did Sigurd seem to notice Rozen's presence. His face darkened as he gave Rozen a vicious glare.

"Who are you?" Sigurd demanded, glaring at Rozen. "I don't recognize you. Must be some nobody. And you dare butt in here?"

It was clear that Rozen's sarcastic remarks had provoked Sigurd.

With his tall stature, domineering attitude, top-tier equipment, and status as the lord's assistant, Sigurd did indeed have an oppressive presence.

Unfortunately for him, his opponent was Rozen.

"You sure are quick to take offense." Rozen glanced at Sigurd nonchalantly and said, "Look, man, this is just a game. Do you really think you're some big-shot lord or captain?"

Rozen locked eyes with Sigurd, smiling slowly.

"Even if you were someone important, I might understand. But with that arrogant attitude, I seriously doubt you are. So, what's the problem if I butt in?"

Rozen's words were blunt and unforgiving.

"You… You little…"

Sigurd's face twisted in rage, and he reached for the hilt of his broadsword.

His movement immediately alarmed several people.

"Sig! Don't!"

The two Sylphs who accompanied Sigurd shouted in shock.

"What are you doing!?"

Leafa's expression also changed as she instinctively moved in front of Rozen.

The crowd around them erupted into commotion.

Rozen, however, remained calm and composed.

"All I did was say a few words, and you already can't help but draw your sword? Guess you're not much of a big deal after all."

Rozen gently pressed Leafa's shoulder, moving her aside as he stepped forward.

"Sigurd, right?" Rozen said indifferently. "Sorry, but Leafa's teaming up with me. You're no longer needed here. Could you leave?"

If Rozen's earlier remarks were merely disrespectful, his words now were a direct challenge.

Sigurd's fury surged even higher.

Leafa had already told Rozen that Sigurd was arrogant, and his words and actions just now confirmed it.

Someone as self-important as Sigurd, being openly challenged by a nobody, was more than he could tolerate.

"So, you're the one who lured Leafa away from my team?" Sigurd said with a twisted smile. "What gives someone like you the right to take my team member?"

His words were full of scorn and contempt.

But...

"And what right do you have?" Rozen suddenly chuckled. "You didn't invite Leafa because of her combat abilities. You wanted her in your team to boost your reputation, didn't you?"

Sigurd's smug expression froze at Rozen's accusation.

"Reputation?"

Leafa looked confused.

"It's simple." Rozen spoke as if no one else were present. "You lost to her in the tournament, right?"

For most people, that might have been just another match, nothing significant.

However, for someone as arrogant and self-important as Sigurd, it was a different story.

"Losing to someone, especially a female player, must have been humiliating for him," Rozen said, shrugging. "That's why he invited you to join his team—so he could turn someone who beat him into an ally or subordinate to protect his reputation."

Rozen had already guessed that Sigurd's team wouldn't easily let Leafa leave.

After all, she was one of the top-ranked Sylph players, within the top five. Being both a rare and powerful female player, no team would willingly let her go.

That's why Rozen wasn't surprised that Sigurd had come rushing over after receiving Leafa's message.

However, Rozen hadn't expected Sigurd to be this kind of person.

Still, Rozen had seen through his motives.

"People like him are common in games like this," Rozen said dismissively. "In real life, they're nobodies. But as soon as they achieve something in a game, they get full of themselves, mistaking fantasy for reality. They indulge in their imaginary roles, flaunting their in-game power."

Rozen had seen countless people like Sigurd before, especially during his time in SAO. He was no stranger to such behavior.

With that in mind...

"People like him don't deserve to be your teammate, let alone partner with you."

Rozen made his declaration without hesitation.

His words hit Sigurd like fuel to a fire.

"Clang!"

With an expression twisted in rage, Sigurd drew his broadsword without hesitation.
