Chapitre 9: Chapter 8: Our First Meeting

It's been a week since school started, and adjusting to this new environment has been a whirlwind.

As I wandered through the sprawling campus, I noticed a girl around my age sitting alone under a large cherry blossom tree. The delicate pink petals drifted down around her, creating a serene halo of color. She was absorbed in sketching something in her notebook, her brows furrowed in concentration.

Gathering my courage, I approached her, careful not to disturb the peaceful scene. "Hello, I'm Ren Hikari. Mind if I join you?"

The girl looked up, her eyes meeting mine with curiosity. "Hello, Ren-san. I'm Momo Yaoyorozu. Please, feel free to sit."

I settled beside her, casting a curious glance at her sketch. "That's a really detailed drawing. Are you an art student?"

Yaoyorozu's smile grew a bit. "Not exactly. I just enjoy drawing as a hobby. It helps me relax."

I nodded, intrigued. "That's great. I've been trying to balance my training with school. It's a bit overwhelming."

Yaoyorozu tilted her head, her interest piqued. "Training? Are you involved in a special program?"

"Yes," I said. "I have a quirk called 'Programmatic Control,' which lets me manipulate objects in various ways. I'm still learning to control it properly."

Yaoyorozu's eyes widened. "That sounds fascinating! Managing such a powerful quirk must be quite challenging."

"It is," I admitted. "There's a lot of physical strain, so I focus on small, precise manipulations."

Yaoyorozu nodded thoughtfully. "I understand. I've been working on my quirk, 'Creation.' It allows me to produce non-living objects from my body, provided I know their molecular structure."

I paused for a moment, recognizing her name. "Wait, you're Momo Yaoyorozu? I've read about you. You're from a prominent hero family and one of the top students here. It's impressive."

Yaoyorozu's eyes widened slightly, and she gave a modest smile. "Yes, that's me. It's nice to meet someone who knows a bit about me. How do you know about my family?"

"I've done some research on the hero world," I explained. "It's a bit of a habit of mine. Being in a prestigious academy like this, it's hard not to notice the prominent figures."

Yaoyorozu smiled warmly. "I see. Well, I'm glad to make your acquaintance. I've been working hard to live up to the expectations and use my quirk for good."

"That's a noble goal," I said, genuinely impressed. "I admire that you're so dedicated."

Yaoyorozu's expression softened with a smile. "Thank you, Ren-san. It's important to have dreams and work towards them. If you ever need someone to talk to or exchange ideas with, I'd be happy to help."

I noticed she was sitting alone and decided to ask. "I couldn't help but notice you're by yourself. Is everything okay? Why are you sitting alone?"

Yaoyorozu's smile faded slightly, and she looked down at her sketchbook. "It's a bit complicated. Some of the other students… don't seem to like me very much. It's partly because of my family's success and the expectations that come with it."

I frowned, feeling a pang of sympathy. "I'm sorry to hear that. It must be tough."

Yaoyorozu nodded, her fingers absently tracing the edges of her notebook. "It can be. But I try not to let it affect me. I believe that if I keep working hard and stay true to my goals, things will improve."

I could see the strength in her words. "You're really brave, Yaoyorozu-san. It sounds like you're handling it with a lot of grace."

Yaoyorozu's eyes brightened a bit. "Thank you, Ren-san. It's good to talk to someone who understands."

As our conversation continued, I felt a growing sense of relief and excitement. Making connections like this was an important part of my journey, and meeting someone like Yaoyorozu made the start of school feel a bit more like home. With the cherry blossoms gently falling around us, it felt like the beginning of something meaningful.

Days passed, and Ren and Momo began to see each other regularly.

Their initial conversation under the cherry blossom tree blossomed into a budding friendship. They often found themselves meeting during lunch breaks, their conversations ranging from their quirks to their ambitions. Ren admired Momo's dedication to her art and her quirk, while Momo was intrigued by Ren's disciplined approach to mastering his own ability, "Programmatic Control."

One day, during a lunch break in the school's sprawling courtyard,

Momo sat sketching again while Ren ate his lunch. The courtyard was bustling with students, the air filled with the scent of spring and the murmur of excited conversations. Ren noticed Momo sitting alone, her sketchpad propped up on her lap.

"Mind if I join you?" Ren asked as he approached.

Momo looked up with a warm smile. "Of course, Ren-san. I'm glad to see you."

Ren took a seat beside her, opening his lunchbox. "How's the sketch coming along?"

"It's coming along slowly," Momo admitted. "But it's a good way to relax between classes."

Ren nodded. "I get that. Training with 'Programmatic Control' can be intense. Sometimes it's nice to just sit and talk."

Momo's eyes lit up. "What's been the most challenging part of your training?"

Ren thought for a moment. "The physical strain is tough. I've had to learn to be efficient with my energy. But the more I practice, the better I get at controlling the changes I make."

"That's impressive," Momo said, genuinely interested. "I've had my own struggles with 'Creation.' It's not just about making things; it's about understanding the structure of what I create."

Their conversation flowed effortlessly, and Ren began to look forward to these moments with Momo. Over time, they developed a routine of meeting for lunch and discussing their latest challenges and achievements.

A few weeks later, the school held its first major event: a sports festival.

The festival was a grand affair, featuring various competitions designed to test both physical and quirk-based abilities. The sprawling grounds were set up with obstacle courses, relay races, and skill challenges.

Ren, despite his initial apprehension about participating in physical events, found himself intrigued by the idea of showcasing his abilities in a new way. Momo was equally excited, though she was more focused on the art and design aspects of the festival setup, as well as participating in some of the challenges.

During one of the events, a relay race that combined speed and quirk usage, Ren and Momo teamed up for their respective classes. Ren's task was to use his quirk to stabilize the track and create temporary barriers, while Momo was responsible for creating precise tools and equipment for her teammates.

As the race began, Ren's focus was razor-sharp. He manipulated the environment to ensure his team had a clear path and no obstacles. His precision impressed everyone watching. Momo, on the other hand, created a series of helpful objects that enhanced the performance of her teammates.

They worked in perfect harmony, and their combined efforts helped their team achieve a solid second place in the race. After the event, they congratulated each other on their performance, their shared accomplishment further strengthening their bond.

As the festival continued, Ren and Momo had the opportunity to talk more with other students.

Ren found himself mingling with a diverse group of classmates, learning about their quirks and interests. His knowledge of the MHA world helped him connect with them, and he was able to provide insightful comments and suggestions based on his understanding of different abilities.

Momo, too, found herself more integrated into the social fabric of the school. Her art and quirk drew admiration from many, and she began to feel more comfortable and accepted among her peers.

One evening, after the festival, Ren and Momo walked home together.

The campus was quiet, the excitement of the festival still lingering in the air. Momo carried a small sketchbook, her latest creations inspired by the day's events.

"That was quite a day," Ren said, stretching his arms. "I didn't think I'd enjoy the festival so much."

Momo smiled, her eyes reflecting the soft glow of the streetlights. "It was wonderful. And your performance was impressive. You really managed to control 'Programmatic Control' with finesse."

Ren's smile was tinged with pride. "Thanks. I couldn't have done it without your help. Your creations made a huge difference."

They continued to chat about their experiences, their laughter and conversation mingling with the gentle sounds of the evening. As they parted ways, Ren felt a renewed sense of optimism. The challenges of school and training were demanding, but moments like these made the journey feel worthwhile.

In the days that followed,

Ren and Momo continued to support each other through the trials of school and training. Their friendship deepened, and they both found solace and strength in their growing bond.

Ren's knowledge of the hero world and his interactions with Momo and other students enriched his experience, providing him with new perspectives and insights. Momo's determination and resilience inspired him, and he felt a sense of camaraderie that made the challenges of his quirk and school life more manageable.
