Chapitre 2: Chapter 2

- MC POV.

It was dark, incredibly so. I could feel all my limbs so I knew that I was alive. It however felt like I was submerged in some kind of liquid. The most probable cause for this was that I was yet to be born and was currently residing within my new mothers womb. I could also faintly hear muffled voices. This just confirmed my suspicions of where I was.

Thinking about all of this, I could feel a sensation of falling that was followed by a sensation of pressure. The most logical conclusion was that it was time for me to be born.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

- Third person POV.

The time was currently 15. of July, 2078.

In a white hospital room, a woman could be seen laying on the bed while looking tired. She looked to be in her late-twenties with blue eyes and yellowish blonde hair. This was Ren Shield, the wife of the renowned scientist David Shield.

Being in her bed she could be seen holding a blanket in her arms that was covering the body of a small child that was born recently. The child had the eyes and hair of his mother with a small build.

Before anything else, the door was quickly opened and a man looking to be in his thirties, holding a small child in his arms hurriedly walked inside while looking nervous.

This was David Shield and their first-born child Melissa. David was a man of average build. He had brown hair along with a goatee.

He stood next to Ren while holding Melissa and was looking at the newborn child in her arms.

"He is perfect. Have you thought of a name?" He asked.

"Yes, he is. As for the name.... How about Len? Len Shield."

"Len Shield.... Its perfect. Welcome to the family little Len." He said smiling while looking at the child.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

- Timeskip 4 years. Len POV.

Four years have passed since I came to this world.

My mother sadly died shortly after my birth because of her already frail body on top of having to give birth a second time. This caused David to become a bit distant, I could almost sense why. It was as if he for some time blamed me for her death, however, he returned back to normal after some time. This also had the effect of making him quite overprotective of Melissa and me while growing up.

During this time, Melissa had already been diagnosed as quirkless which caused her to be pretty depressed about it for a while before she instead started to have a small interest in making support items and got the goal of becoming the best inventor this world had ever seen. This meant that she spent a lot of time with our dad from an early age.

Me on the other hand grew up as normally as possible. I of course showed some signs of heightened intelligence while young so that my father would also have a certain amount of hope in me in case of me being quirkless like Melissa.

However, soon the day came for me to make a visit to the quirk doctor.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

- Third person POV.

The sky was clear and the sun shone brightly above the artificial island, I-Island. People were scurrying along the streets to head for their jobs or for the kids to get to classes. Considering how I-Island was an island created for scientists to do their research, you could imagine how many of these people were scientists.

However, in a house, no, more like a small mansion near the middle of the city, the scene was a bit different. In this house lived three people. David Shield, a world renowned researcher and father. Melissa Shield, the daughter of David, quirkless and aspiring inventor. And finally was our MC, Len Shield, son of David and a reincarnated soul.

Inside the house, David could be seen stressing while running around the house to get everything ready. Melissa was at the table eating while laughing at her father. And finally Len who currently could be seen in his room, drawing.

The reason for Davids stress was currently because the day had come for them to learn if Len had a quirk or not. He rushed while trying to have everything ready for the day as he needed to get to his lab immediatly after the check-up.

After finally getting all he needed he called out.

"Kids, get ready. We need to leave!"

"Sure thing dad!" Came a voice from the kitchen belonging to Melissa.

"Got it dad!" Came the reply from our MC.

Both kids quickly got ready, and soon the family left the house heading for the doctors office.

(A/N. Before anyone mentions the fact about them having to go to the doctor when David could simply make a machine to check him, remember that this is over a decade before he had the tech to make a quirk enhancer that should be easier than making the check-up machine.)

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

- At the doctors office. Time: 25. of July, 2082.

The trio arrived at the office and quickly entered. Nearing the reception, they walk up to the receptionist.

"Goodmorning. What can I help you with?" The male receptionist asked.

"Yeah, good morning. Im here for a quirk evaluation for my son, Len Shield." David said.

"One moment, I will check the system." He said.

A few moments later he spoke again.

"Yes, here he is. I have informed the doctor that you have arrived, so please take a seat until you get called."

"Thank you." David said before he took the hands of his kids and headed for the waiting area to the side.

They sat there for nearly half an hour before a woman looking to be in her mid-thirties wearing a lab coat over a black dress appeared from around the corner and looked towards them.

"Shield?" She asked,

"Thats us. Lets go kids." David said as he stood up and had the kids follow him towards the woman.

"Good morning. I am doctor Stone, and I will be the one to check the quirk of your son." She said as she put her hand forward for a handshake.

David shook her hand and responded. "David Shield, and this is Melissa and Len."

She crouched down to their height as she spoke to them. "Its nice to meet the two of you. Now, are you ready to get this quirk checked?"

"Yeah, its exciting." Said Melissa in a cheery voice.

"Sure am. Im ready to know if Im gonna have a quirk." Len said, causing him to receive looks from the other three near him.

"What? Its not like its the end of the world if I dont get a quirk you know."

"Indeed, but most kids your age usually are more excited about knowing id they have a quirk or not."

"Maybe, but it doesnt really matter to me. And I wouldnt mind being quirkless. That way I could spend more time with big sister and dad." Len said while laying it on a bit thick as to gain a bit of favor with his family.

"I see..... Why dont we head into my office so that we can get this done?" She said before standing back up and leading the trio into her office.

The office was pretty big. When they entered, they could see multiple chairs to the right of the door, a gourney to the left that was up against the wall, a desk in the middle of the room with all the tools that she needed. Behind the desk there was a curtain that covered the other half of the room.

Doctor Stone motioned for the trio to sit down on the chairs the was placed before the desk while she herself went behind the desk and sat down herself.

"Now then, before we start I need to ask you if you have felt any changes lately."

"Hmm, not really. Why?" Len replied.

"Nothing really. Its more to see if you have activated your quirk before coming here. Though since it seems thats not the case, then we will have to do some tests. Is this alright?"

"Ofcourse. You know your job best after all." David replied.

"Good, then we will begin right away. Len, could you follow me?"

"Sure." Len said before following her behind the curtains where she would conduct the tests.

She took some x-rays, took a blood sample and conducted multiple other tests before they went back to sit down. She informed them that she would recieve results in a few minutes so they could just relax. Len used this time to play a bit with Melissa while David spoke with the doctor.

Soon a total of fifteen minutes had passed and Stone had received the results on her computer. She took a minute to look them over before looking over to the family. David and the kids had become silent when they noticed how the doctor was so focused on something. Soon she spoke, ready to announce the verdict.

"Well, this is certainly something.." She started off.

"Is there something wrong?" David became on edge when he heard the tone she had in her voice.

"Hm, no everything is in perfect order. Its just the results from our tests, and it seems that little Len does indeed have a quirk, and a strong one at that." She said as a small smile plastered itself on her face.

David sighed in relief and Melissa was excited to hear what the quirk was. Meanwhile Len just sat there waiting for the adults to stop the drama and just speak.

"What is it, what is it?" Melissa asked quickly.

"Easy there." She chuckled. "Its an interesting quirk since it is so versatile, or in other words, it can be used for many things." She stated as she looked at the kids in the room.

"So whats the quirk?" David couldnt help but ask.

"Well, the quirk itself doesnt have a name yet, but what I can tell you is that it makes little Len able to control elements such as air, water, earth and fire. Thats about all it shows."

"Wooooww. Its so cool Len." Melissa gushed.

"Indeed, thats a good quirk." David said proudly.

"However, theres a little thing you should know."

"And that is?" David asked, now nervous again.

"Its nothing bad, but from what I can see from the report, Len will have to learn certain movements to be able to use this quirk. An example would be the water. From what I could see, he needs to move in a certain way that resembles tai-chi."

"I see. What about the others?" David asked.

"I sadly have no idea. However, it should almost come instinctual to Len when he is ready. Though there is still the issue of a name. Do you want to name it?" She asked as she looked to Len.

Len looked at his father, then to Melissa before he once again looked at the doctor.

"I wanna name it Bending." He said.

"Bending? Why that name?" The doctor asked.

"Well, two reasons. First off, its like I have to bend the element, so I feel that it is fitting. The second reason is because of dad." He said.

"Because of me?" David asked puzzled.

"Well yeah. Your quirk lets you bend your fingers all those funny ways, so its a thing to remember you by since youre the best dad I could have asked for." He said while giving David the brightest smile he could.

David had small tears in his eyes at this small gesture. The doctor just smiled as David held his two children in a tight hug. The hug lasted for a while before David could get himself together and let the two of them go, causing both of them to comically gasp for air. David however quickly got himself back under control.

"Well if that was all, I would like to thank you for everything doctor." David said as he stood up and shook her hand.

"It is no problem, just doing my job." She said jokingly as she shook his hand.

"Come on kids, lets head back."

"Sure dad. Bye doctor lady." Melissa spoke.

"Got it dad. Bye doctor, and thank you." Len said as he followed the other two out of the office.

As the doctor sat in her office after they left, she had just one thought:

"That kid will be someone to look forward to in the future...."
