Robbie's POV
The moment I got off the phone with Tony, I saw Jane hurrying towards me. The full impact of the situation was yet to hit me. I was already getting a feeling of something like bile rising from the pit of my stomach. I was thankful when Jane interrupted my thought process, otherwise, I would have started acting out.
"Mr. Walker, Mr. Mandes is very concerned as you le-" Jane started when I interrupted.
"Book me the earliest air ticket you can get for Warham right now!" I said as I started hurrying towards the exit of the restaurant, we were in.
Jane's mouth fell open at my instructions. She quickly recovered and ran behind me, stammering as she spoke, "Mr. Walker… Mr. Walker...Y-you haven't finished... Mr. Walker... what about the… Please, Mr. Wal-"
"JANE...Do what I said and wrap up the meeting. Tell them that I have left as I had some urgent business to attend to," I said as I got out of the restaurant and gave my keys to the valet there.
"But sir, Mr. Mandes wants to settle the deal only with you," Jane said, sounding helpless.
My mood is not conducive to listening to her worries or arguing back. My mind is already wrapped up with the current situation. I knew I shouldn't have left Warham. I was already getting a bad feeling that something might go terribly wrong if I did, and it did. I can only hope that dad is not behind this! Dad does everything by the law. Something as lawless as abduction doesn't seem like his style at all.
The valet came with my car. He got out, bowed to me, and handed me the keys. I took it and opened the door. It was only then that I noticed the blood gushing down my hand. Jane came hopping beside me, still looking very anxious, but the moment she saw my hand, her eyes widened, and she almost started screaming in utter anxiety,
"OMG! Mr. Walker, your hand! It is bleeding. Please let me call the medics and wra-"
It came from the wine glass that I mistakenly broke after reading Tony's text. I didn't see the big gash it created. My brain was so absorbed with the news that I didn't feel the pain. No one saw it as I immediately left the room before anyone could see the wound or stop me.
I opened the car door despite Jane's nervous pleading to treat my wound before leaving and took my seat. I held her arm with my unwounded hand to stop her concerned cries and said sternly,
"Jane, I'll be leaving in half an hour. My tickets should be ready by then. You can wrap up the meeting and handle the trivial matters. Goodbye."
I slammed the door shut on Jane's stunned face and drove the car off.

I reached the airport after an hour which was close to my hotel. My flight was to take off in another 45 mins. I had already checked in and was in the waiting room. I just couldn't wait for the plane to take off, and somehow the time seemed to be moving at the speed of a snail. I took the Business Times magazine and started glancing through it to avoid thinking much about the situation at hand, which was only causing me to get more anxious. Further making things worse, my unskilled wrapping of the wound on my hand was making it hard to turn the pages of the magazine.
I felt my cell phone vibrate. I took it out to see two texts from Tony of a silver car and another of a blond lady. Another three texts followed it, giving the details of the teacher, which I assume is the blond lady. For some odd reason, she seemed kind of familiar to me. The last text said that he is going along with some cops to search the teacher's place. Sam is leaving with the other cops to check the various points where the car passed by to get some clue. He also included that Fred is doing his own research.
I forwarded the texts to my personal guards I hired recently, who also happen to be an expert at pulling out the history of anything and anyone. I told them to send me whatever the hell they find about the car and the lady. This is insufficient. I felt very frustrated to be stuck here. I got up from my seat and started walking all over the waiting room making everyone glare at me. It was not my intention but sitting quietly only made me feel more restless. I looked at the watch and got furious to see that still thirty minutes were left. Can't the time go a little faster! I exhaled deeply to keep my calm when my cell phone rang. I quickly picked it up without bothering to see the caller ID.
"Tony? Did yo-" I started with great urgency, but the voice on the other side interrupted.
"I'm not Tony, old man," came the scathing tone of Fred.
My tense state changed to annoyance, "What is it?" I replied.
"I think that's something I should ask," Fred said in an odd tone.
Fred replied in a slow, aggravated tone, "Old man, you must come clean. That car made three stops, and one was at your residence."
"WHAT? How did you know? How come the cops haven't found it, but you did?" I asked, totally taken aback. My heart dropped to my stomach at the news.
"My cousin is a hacker. She hacked into the police server and got the record of the traffic surveillance around the area. She tracked the car down. Of course, I couldn't inform the cops about it, though they will get to know about it soon. She is a minor. I don't want any criminal record on her," Fred replied in an off-handed manner about the illegal hacking, but then his voice turned acidic as he asked, "Old man, I hope this is not your play!"
"It is not my play," I replied earnestly, "but I know whose it is," I felt bitter to the core. I couldn't believe dad fell to this length.
"Look, dude, you know it well that if the Walker family is involved, even I can't do much. My family doesn't have the power to go against a family like yours. I didn't tell Tony anything. You better get your sh*t together. I won't be able to hide it from him for long," Fred said, his voice containing suppressed rage.
I clenched my fist, re-opening the wound that stopped bleeding.
What have you done, dad? Weren't you always up and about the Walker family's reputation? How are you going to explain to the cops about my son's abduction?
I gritted my teeth as I replied to Fred in monotone,
"Thanks. I will get to the bottom of it."
"You better!" Fred said as he hung up.
As soon as I heard the call disconnect, I felt like throwing my phone. I was feeling angry, upset, worried, and extremely frustrated. I can't believe that a day like this would come when I have to go against my one family to protect my other family. I felt my eyes sting as I picked up my cell phone and dialed my mum's number. She picked up on the fifth ring and said in an affectionate tone,
"Honey, I am so sorry, I am very bu-" she started speaking the moment she picked up.
"Mum," I interrupted her, "Mum, Twen has been kidnapped!" I said, my voice cracking.
I heard a loud thud on the other side, followed by my mum's panicked cry, "What are you saying, Rob? How did he-"
"Mother," I said, trying to keep my voice level, "Can you do me a favor?"
"Ask me two!" she replied, worry-filled in her tone.
"Can you please return home and keep an eye on dad!" I asked in a shaking voice.
"Yo-Your dad? Honey, are you implying that your dad has something to do with it?" she said in a shocked, trembling voice, "You know, he never-"
"I am sorry, mum, and thank you!" I interjected before hanging up. I just couldn't bear to hurt mum in any way. Just what have you done, dad?!! I put my bleeding hand over my eyes, and a thin stream of tears rolled down my cheek.
It was only an hour-long flight, but it felt like an eternity. Once I landed in Warham, I quickly proceeded to take a cab. Since my return was sudden, my car was not prepared ahead of time. I wanted to go meet Tony first. But at the moment, my mind was so absorbed in my suspicions over dad that I first wanted to run and confirm whether it was him. If it were him, then I would get Twen back. I just couldn't bring myself to believe that dad could have fallen so low. Today's altercation between us might as well be the end of our relationship as well as my mum's too. I feel unbearably guilty of pulling mum into this as well, but there is no other choice. Mum tried her best to maintain the happy family image before me so that I don't feel sad or isolated. Yet, today many people have suffered because of my choices. Tony, Twen, Mom...how am I ever going to forgive myself for bringing such a disaster on them all? I clenched my fist in anger.
My guilty reflection got interrupted by a call. It is Tony. I was scared to pick up the call. I truly don't have the courage to face him when it is most probably my dad who is the reason behind it. I exhaled loudly to calm my stressed nerves and answered the call,
"Robbie, have you reached?" Tony asked, his voice filled with anxiousness.
"Just landed. What is happening on that side?" I asked, feeling my heart pounding fast.
"We went to Mrs. Miranda's place. She said that she took a leave today. She was at her mother's place to attend her sister's engagement. The place is about 42 miles from the school. Her mother, sister, and brother-in-law all proved her words. She has a strong alibi. She can't be lying. Yet, the cops are checking the video recordings of the engagement," Tony said as his voice cracked in the end.
"So, was it someone else who sneaked in? How? Wasn't her ID scanned in?" I said, my brows creased. I started to feel the panic rise in my chest. It looks like dad does have a connection in this.
"Mrs. Miranda's ID was stolen, and she doesn't know how!" Tony said. I could almost hear the fear in his voice as he spoke.
"Do the cops have any way of recognizing this woman? CCTV cameras at the school captured her, right?" I said, trying to make my voice as relaxed as possible.
"She somehow managed to not show her face in any of the security cameras in the school. There is no way of recognising her," Tony said, sounding like he was gritting his teeth.
"What about the whereabouts of the car? Was the traffic surveillance checked?" I asked in a fearful voice.
This question was followed by a pause, so long that I had to check my cell phone to see if we were still on call. I spoke softly, "Tony?"
"It made three stops," Tony suddenly started, startling me, "One at the bus stop, another one where the car was found, an abandoned road with no traffic surveillance and," Tony stopped to swallow before saying, "and another stop at Walker family villa,"
I froze. So, Fred was right. That minor cousin of his did break into the police server and got the recordings. I felt choked. I didn't know why I felt I might hear something different. I was now at a loss for where to start with the explanation when Tony spoke again,
"Robbie, did your dad-"
"I don't know," I said, placing my head on the seat, "I have no idea. I am going straight to dad to know what's going on."
"Why do you sound like you already knew about it?" Tony asked, sounding suspicious. "I-" I started to think of an excuse, as I didn't want to put Fred in trouble when I heard Tony speak to someone,
"Sorry, I am really sorry, I was not looking-" the sentence was interrupted with a gasp from Tony.
"Tony?" I asked cautiously.
"Who are you?" I heard Tony ask, in a shocked frightful tone, but then his voice turned full-blown fear-stricken, "Hey! Wh-What are y-" and then, Tony's voice disappeared.
"Tony? Tony? TONY??!!" I screamed as I heard some muffled voice, which I couldn't make out anything of.
"Tony, what happened? TONY!?" I shouted on my phone, earning the furious look of the cab driver.
I checked my phone, he was still on the call, but there was no voice. Panicked, I disconnected and quickly made a call to Fred, who picked up almost immediately,
"Finally, your back, old m-" Fred's booming voice assaulted my ears, but I quickly interrupted him, asking in an urgent panicked tone,
"Where is Tony?"
Fred answered in a slightly shocked voice, "He went to the sight where the car was dumped to find any trace leading to Champ-"
"Check on him RIGHT NOW!!" I almost screamed at him.
"What happened?" Fred asked, astonishment coloring every syllable of his words.
"He was talking to me, and then, he encountered someone with whom he had some odd exchange, and then it went silent," I spoke so hurriedly that some of my words got jumbled.
"Relax, dude! Cops are there with him. It's impossible for somethi-" Fred abruptly stopped speaking. He spoke again after a momentary pause, "the cops are calling me," he said in a stunned tone."Put it on conference," I said, which he did,
"Mr. D'Souza?" an unfamiliar voice spoke.
I listened quietly, though I almost wanted to bombard him with questions.
"Speaking," Fred said.
"Please don't panic by the news, but it looks like Mr. Hawker has been abducted too," the cop spoke speedily as if hoping the news won't sound too unpleasant.
I felt like my senses had gone numb. It was like being suddenly thrown into a nightmare. First, Twen disappeared, and now Tony?
No! No!
Not Tony!
Why is this happening??
"WHAT? WHAT IN F*CKING H*LL WERE YOU GUYS DOING???" Fred boomed furiously.
"Mr. D'Souza, Mr. Hawker went to talk on his cell phone privately while we were questioning the witnesses. We took our eyes off for a minute, and then he was nowhere to be seen. We only found his cell phone on the roadside," the cop said in such a manner as if preparing to hear a lecture.
"YOU BUNCH OF INCOMPETENT FOOLS!!" I bellowed on the phone and hung up.
I felt my hands and legs trembling. What should I do? My son! Tony! They are both in trouble. What if something happens to them?
NO!!
Nothing should happen to them!
I shouldn't panic.
I have to do something.
First, I have to talk to dad, and then I have to find out if there was anything suspicious around Tony the last few days! Anyone holding a grudge! Or threatened him, maybe? Who should I ask? Samuel and Jenny are close to him, but they don't stay by him every day. Neither does Boris or Fred!
Then who?
The answer came to me like being struck by a lightning bolt!
Of course! Tanya!
