(S.H.I.E.L.D Blacksite #405, Location: CLASSIFIED, Security Clarence required: 7+)

(Year: 2007)
---------------------------------
(Maria Hill POV)
---------------------------------
Maria Hill entered the S.H.I.E.L.D #405 Blacksite and was flanked by over a dozen high level agents including Romanoff.
Someone had tried to break into this very black site, and was captured. All interrogation attempts have failed. Until the intruder asked for her directly by name. Director Fury had decided to indulge the request, simply because everything that was done prior to getting himself captured, was flawless and he could've gotten in and out unseen if only he'd not attempted to access the dead agents archive.
That was a restricted access server which notified the Director if someone was attempting to access confidential files from an unlisted but registered server.
Walking in, she found the Intruder bound and suited up. He was wearing what looked to be some kind of space suit, but was likely a highly advanced piece of exoskeleton technology.
''Maria Hill, at last.'' The intruder said, and despite the voice filter in his helmet, there were parts of his voice that reminded her distinctly of...of her dead husband.
''You asked and here I am. So why did you break into this facility?'' Asks Maria.
''Mmm, wrong question. The correct one is why did I knowingly try to access content that would alert the pirate to my presence? Well to answer both questions its rather simple. I was bored.'' Says the intruder.
''And just who are you? Your skills suggest a special forces background, with some intelligence agency training mixed in. But that suit of yours is messing with our attempts to scan.'' Hill replies.
''Unsurprising, the Suit is beyond mortal comprehension. Not even Tony Stark could create this. I will tell you what I was in the past however. I was like you. A S.H.I.E.L.D Agent. I had a wife, a daughter, then the Unity happened. I lost everything. I have spent the last few hundred years trying to get it all back.'' He replies.
''So you're saying that you're immortal? Is that basically it?''
''Ageless is better in line with what I am. Once I entered Unity I transcended everything. I became a Hunter, I became an Emmissary, I became the Mantis, I became...Starborn.'' Says the intruder.
''That's quite interesting, but you still haven't answered my question. Who...are...you?'' Hill reiterates.
''I am whatever is needed. Vigilante, Hero, Villain, Thief, Archaelogist, Healer, Treasure Hunter, One Man Army. Well this has been fun, but I have a war to fight, and so little ti- Ahh shit. They're here....'' The Intruder says and not three seconds later the alarms begin to sound.
''Looks like we're in this together, this enemy is one you can't beat, they do not negotiate, the do not deviate.'' Says the intruder.
''Thanks for the offer, but we can handle it.'' Hill dismissed his words.
''Let me rephrase, I negotiate, I deviate, they don't. I arranged this little meeting because it served my interests, and I got to see you one last time. But if I don't leave now, they will kill everyone here.'' Says the intruder.
''You broke into a Level 7 Blacksite, and your bound in cuffs made from an Adamantium alloy. You won't be leaving anytime soon.'' Hill dismissed again, and turns to leave before the sound of metal skidding across the floor reaches her ears.
She turns to see the cuffs in two separate pieces and turns to the prisoner in shock.
She watched as his outfit shifts in seconds, and there's a pistol in his hand pointed directly at her as he pulls the trigger and the sound of a body dropping next to her reaches her ears. She looks to her left as a body appears out of thin air before turning into Light Particles and rushing towards the intruder who appears to absorb it.
''More will come, shall we?'' He asks, but doesn't wait for an answer as he strides out.
---------------------------------
(POV Shift: Natasha Romanoff)
---------------------------------
''Who the hell are these guys?'' An agent called as they all uploaded rounds after rounds at the intruders.
Suddenly a number of precision shots took each one of them down. She watched as an unusually dressed agent took several well-placed shots, and systematically began killing them.
''Fall back! Your pre-cataclysm weapons simply won't cut it. Widow right?'' The agent asks.
''Yeah?''
''Use these, they can penetrate their armor.'' He says handing her a Knife and modified 1911 Pistol.
''And when I run out of ammo?'' Asks Natasha.
''Figure it out.'' He replies as he manifests a small minigun which he uses to cut through the half-dozen who appear dead and out of nowhere.
She watched as more heavily armored opponents arrived and stopped firing.
''We've come a long way to find you heretic! You will pay for your transgressions against the Great Serpent!'' Says one, only for the agent to reach out and the speaker to drop dead as particles of Light rushed to him.
''Eat this!'' He replies putting his left hand out and lasers shoot out killing them all. ''I'm not detecting anymore of them, we're safe.'' He says, and every agent except her breathes a collective sigh of relief.
''What?'' Natasha asks as she notices the way the agent looks at her.
''You ever want to say goodbye to that soviet graduation gift, come find me. I have my ways and I've always had a weakness for redheads.'' He says and before she even register what was said, the agent vanishes into various light particles.
---------------------------------
(POV Shift: Nick Fury)
---------------------------------
Nick Fury was reviewing the reports, security footage, and various other details. This individual showed abilities that warranted putting his ass on the index. But what truly interested Fury was the individual himself. When those people invaded the 405 Blacksite he could have escaped easily.
He didn't.
In fact he didn't just offer to help, he stuck around to help. That implied a desire to do good.
A trait worth consideration for the Avengers Initiative.
But that part about being an Agent of S.H.I.E.L.D concerned Fury, as well as references to being Ageless.
Taking out his pass key, Fury activates a new special project, codenamed: STARBORN.
Given that the target had previously asked for Hill by name, Fury saw no reason not to make Hill the lead on that new project. He'd also have Romanoff assigned given that she had seen the target in action. He'd have to occasionally rotate her out to perform other missions obviously, an agent of her caliber was always in short supply, and not every mission could be performed by the likes of Coulson, Garrett, or Barton. Sometimes a honeypot was the necessary agent.
And while Agents Carter or Morse were good traps in there own right, Romanoff's report stated he claimed to have always had a weakness for redheads. And the security systems audio monitoring sensors do confirm that.
So he has the project lead and squad leader assigned to it, Hill would be able to decide on the rest of the team, as was her right as the Project Lead. They'd have to investigate his claims of Unity, which would probably end up taking them down multiple religious rabbit holes.
But they needed more information about the target and his ultimate motives before any significant decision was reached.
Just because his actions now spoke of a good person, didn't make that person a good one. A lot of good people have done terrible things throughout history.
---------------------------------
(POV Shift: Matthias Braddock)
---------------------------------
After having escaped from the Blacksite, Matthias went back to his Ship. He'd been in this universe going on twenty three years. He'd used tech to shield his true age so that he could craft an identity it was a simple matter a brief few weeks in foster care saw him the time necessary to arrange things suitably.
Long story short he eventually went to Oxford University and had the necessary degrees that allowed him to form a number of small companies that he could now unify into one.
Befitting his origins in Starfield, Braddock would name it Constellation Industries. The company motto? Reaching for the Heavens of Humanity. In addition to being a medical and technology company, Constellation would produce Chunks and Terrabrew and would also produce weapons. The tag attached to every weapon they would make? We don't make weapons that inflict injuries we can't cure.
Braddock already had begun recruiting people to his company. Donnie Gill, Seth Dormer, Helen Cho, Franklin Hall, Noah Burstein, Holden Radcliffe, Wilfred Nagel, Samuel Sterns, Maya Hansen, and Betty Ross had all received invitations to join. However only Gill, Dormer, Radcliffe, Sterns, and Ross had taken the offer.
Thus he let the others know that the offer to join would always be on the table. He did have a meeting with Aldrich Killian though, after Maya turned his offer down he sent a message to A.I.M.
Killian was insane, but investing in A.I.M meant he could potentially get a look at the Extremis Data. That would certainly help him in his efforts to produce a drug that increased life expectancy, physiological condition, and gave the user numerous other benefits.
He wished for products that improve humanity as a whole. Best place to start? The human body.
Which made the meeting with Killian a good first step to the goal of creating a stronger human race.
After that it would involve tracking down Klaue for his Vibranium, arranging a meeting with Shuri to bait her into getting her father involved. He'd keep most of the Vibranium, but some would be returned to Wakanda. He needed the Heart-Shaped Herb. He wasn't going to get through standard means, but he needed to be within punching distance to scan the bastards life force. That would get him into Wakanda at which point he'd rob the place.
He'd steal a number of Heart-Shaped Herbs, not to mention a veritable ten tonnes of Vibranium.
And the reason he'd not have T'Chaka come for him? Not only would Klaue be given to Wakanda, but Braddock was willing to offer up information about Killmonger, and he'd make a gentleman's agreement/bet with T'Chaka. A bet so impossible that it simply couldn't happen. T'Chaka's honor would prevent him from reneging, and Braddock would keep his end of deal.
Though, perhaps Braddock's buy-in should be Klaue. With Killmonger as the bait?
No matter, details to be worked on later. For now he wanted to convince Killian to let him invest in A.I.M, if only to peak at Extremis.
