Kieran was contemplating going after Rose when she burst into the bedroom again.

He raised an eyebrow. "Back so soon? I thought you were mad at me?"

"I am," she declared angrily.

Without warning, she stepped forward and kissed him—hard. It wasn't a gentle kiss, not even a passionate one, but a kiss full of pent-up frustration. Her lips were demanding, angry, as if she wanted to make him feel the full weight of her feelings.

Kieran's eyes widened in surprise, but it only took a moment for a small smile to tug at the corner of his lips. He couldn't help it. Here they were—arguing, at odds—and yet she was kissing him like that.

When she finally pulled away, her chest heaving, he found himself grinning. He leaned back against the headrest, arms crossing over his chest, his expression now amused.

"Is that your idea of punishment?" he asked, voice light despite the heated situation. "Because I think I might enjoy it."
