Chapitre 275: The state of the world -270

[Ding! It has been detected that the first Scenario type SCP has been triggered! Due to this Host is given additional rewards!]

[Another three members of the O5 council has appeared in the world! As well as their own seats of power!]

[O5-7 has appeared!]

[O5-8 has appeared!]

[O5-9 has appeared!]

[Ding! System has detected that more then half of the O5 council has been summoned! Due to this, another three groups of interests have appeared in the world!]

[Ding! New Groups of interests have brought an unknown number of new SCP objects with them into the world!]

When it rains, it pours. That saying had never felt more true than at that moment.

At least he was now aware that he was dealing with a Scenario type 001, which at least meant it was unlikely that the scarlet king was about to descend onto their reality, or that the gate guardian was about to use his sword to burn the surface of the earth barren.

In a flash, his arm moved, and his clenched fist smashed into the protective bulletproof glass protecting a big red button. The force was enough to instantly dent the stainless steel around the button as it was pressed.

It was but one of many such buttons, but he wasn't about to declare an XK-class end-of-world scenario just yet; such an action couldn't be reversed, so to be sure such an event was happening before he declared it, he only alerted high-ranking Foundation personnel.

After all, he now had three extra members of the O5 Council out there, and he needed them to stay safe, after all, O5-7 was one of his own people, which would give him even more say within the Council, and O5-7 could help ease his workload even further.

SITE-001, being the headquarters of the Foundation's high command, was also the place most affected by his pressing of that big red button.

As soon as Alexander pressed the red button, the room's ambient lighting shifted to an ominous red hue. A soft, persistent alarm began to sound throughout SITE-001. The entire base was now in heightened alert mode, but not in full crisis mode—yet.

This action would mobilize the Foundation's highest-ranking personnel, putting every key figure on notice without causing widespread panic across the lower levels. Only the highest echelons of the Foundation would be aware that a SCP-001 had manifested.

Information started pouring in, streaming through his terminal. Alexander's eyes flicked rapidly over the data. The appearance of additional O5 Council members—O5-7, O5-8, and O5-9—was both a blessing and a potential source of chaos.

They each had their own seats of power, meaning more hands to help manage the escalating situation, but also more opportunities for internal power plays. He'd have to tread carefully.

The revelation that new Groups of Interest had emerged along with unknown SCP objects added yet another layer of unpredictability. Alexander clenched his jaw. Groups of Interest were always problematic—whether it was the Global Occult Coalition, the Church of the Broken God, or even the Serpent's Hand. New factions appearing out of nowhere, along with more SCPs, would only serve to complicate the containment effort.

The lights in the war room flickered for a moment as the system updated with the incoming data. The alerts on his screen gave him enough information to act on.

---------------------

Within the great Amazon rainforest stood an ever-growing camp, new buildings and tents rising day after day. The camp was at the foot of a small mountain, though it was hardly a true mountain, but none cared much for that.

No, what everyone there cared about was a cave within said semi-mountain, or what was once a cave. Now, it was covered in metal and looked more like a small corridor, one filled with all kinds of defenses and blast doors.

If one were to do the unthinkable and make it to the other side, they would find themselves in an entirely new world. Or rather, just another world, for it looked a lot like the world one had just come from.

If one didn't know about that, they might think they were merely transported to another point within the same world, and they likely wouldn't know the difference even as they got found by some of the hunting drones of the Sentinel robots that ruled that world.

The biggest difference between this world and the other one was the people who lived in it. Some people were born with a special gene, one that could awaken, granting them special powers through mutation.

They were known as mutants.

The people within this world had taken an issue with these mutants, and in an attempt to get rid of them, they created some powerful robots led by AI. They were tasked with hunting down and killing all mutants.

However, AI has been proven to be smarter than the people who made it.

Mutants came from humans, and so the AI turned against the very people who built it, the Sentinels going rogue to hunt down not just mutants, but all humans.

Some Mutants had been lucky enough to awaken powerful mutations. One of them was one with the power to control metal. He went by Magneto and used his own power and that of the mutants following him to fight back.

Together, they had claimed a small town and built a safe haven for people, somewhere not even the Sentinals and their drones could enter.

But they were hardly the only safe place in the world, nor the center of it. No, the world was vast, and all around it were extraordinary people. While the most well-known mutants might mostly operate within the US, everywhere people lived, so did mutants.

The SCP Foundation was well aware of this, and in their search for anything useful in their fight against the abnormal, they sought out these places. For the X-gene, the source of mutants' powers.

And while the genes of Magneto and those powerful mutants near him were something the Foundation wanted, they also knew that getting that would be difficult, and so they mostly looked towards other mutants.

While an elite team stayed within the stronghold of Ironwood, many more teams spread out throughout the world.

Their mission is simple: find survivors and try and gather anything of value, including mutants and their genes.

Within Europe, there were some nations that had a far more negative view of mutants than others; however, due to the EU, the mutants had it better than in the US due to their ability to freely move around, easily relocating to nations more friendly towards them.

Though even there, mutants had still gathered together, much like in the US where many found their way to either the school of Charles Xavier or within the arms of the Brotherhood led by Magneto, here they too joined together, making up a rather large and powerful faction known as the children of Darwin.

This society of Mutants helped young mutants to control their powers, and kept mostly to themselves, leading to less widespread dislike towards mutants as a whole, which had proven to be quite a boon.

When the US began the Sentinel project, it wanted to deal with mutants worldwide. Most of Europe was an ally of them, so Sentinels, too, operated within the EU and were allies.

Though more to capture mutant criminals than to kill all mutants on sight.

Due to many not liking the idea, the number of Sentinels wasn't great when they went rogue, which means that the number of deaths also hadn't been as high as within the US itself.

And while more Sentinels had come, their drone armies had followed, and Europe had suffered; finding people hadn't been a problem, and the Foundation had sent a large amount of people over to attempt to gather everything useful.

Even though the rule of law hadn't yet collapsed the Foundation had no problem finding people, but normal and mutants willing to go with them, and while getting into the Children of Darwin was proving to be difficult, progress was being made.

Other places hadn't been as lucky due to the great hate of mutants that had been brewing within the US; the entirety of both North America and South America had suffered greatly, with only small pockets of survivors left.

The Middle East was a mixed bag, with some people strongly hating mutants due to their religious beliefs and others supporting them. Due to this, the duality of fate was on full display.

Though the poor level of military might in many places made the people living easy targets for the army of drones and sentinels, though also not highly important targets, life was still not rare in those parts.

However, that was still only a small fraction of the human population; after all, most humans lived in Asia. Even though the sentinels did their best to make that history, they were far from their goal.

However, today, out of nowhere, they would get help from a most unexpected source.
