There are two versions of the movie Reversal of the Future, with the release version being the more well-known content and the extended version, known as the director's cut, featuring more risqué scenes.
In the extended version, Kitty is stabbed by Wolverine's claws while assisting him in a thought process, rendering her unable to continue supporting him. As a result, Professor X, Magneto, and Iceman journey to Xavier's School, which has been transformed into an experimental factory, in search of someone imprisoned for research due to their ability - Rogue.
Rogue already possesses a copy ability, which is then applied to Sentinel. This combination of the shapeshifting ability of Mystique and the copying ability of Rogue makes Sentinel even more formidable and ultimately leads to the extinction of mutants.
During the rescue mission, Iceman is attacked by Sentinel and dies as a result. Magneto and Professor X, along with Rogue, return to replace Shadowcat and continue to assist Wolverine in his mind-traveling. However, this leads to Sentinel discovering their hiding place and swiftly eliminating them.
.....
Although Rogue appears numb and desperate her physical condition seems relatively good, indicating that she may have been captured only recently.
In The Diamensional Space, Max approaches Rogue.
Rogue, who had been feeling bitter and desperate, is momentarily startled. Could it be that she is finally being taken for an experiment? However, she turns her head slightly, unsure of what to expect.
As she turned her head, she was met with a stunning sight.
What did she see?
A door materialized in the air beside her, and within it stood a peculiar man, smiling at her.
She was dumbfounded.
She squinted at the door, scanning it from side to side.
"You..."
"My name is Max, but you can also call me The Diamensional Mercenary," Maxintroduced himself.
"Are you here to save me?" Rouge asked, hope blossoming in her voice.
"Saving you is just part of the plan," Max replied with a smile. "Is Professor X's Cerebro still here?"
"It should be," Rouge confirmed.
"Excellent," Max smiled. "I'll verify that first, then... see you tomorrow."
"Wait, didn't you come to rescue me?" Rouge called out anxiously as Max began to depart.
"First, consider what bargaining chip you have to offer, and then I'll save you," Max replied, before the door vanished into thin air.
Rouge shouted several times in desperation, but received no response.
Exiting the room, Max swiftly located the brainwave scanning chamber and laid eyes on the Cerebro.
Professor X utilized it to enhance his psychic abilities, seeking contact with mutants. In the comics, even the White Queen had employed it. This device held significant value for those with spiritual abilities, making it one of Max's objectives.
In the movies, Professor X appeared to have removed the Cerebro early on. However, reality often diverges from fiction, and the machine remained in place.
In Max's eyes, the success of The Multiverse Portal was merely a matter of time. Taking Esme to the new world meant that this Cerebro could prove immensely useful. Since Professor X hadn't taken it, Max saw no reason to hesitate in seizing it for himself.
However, Max didn't intend to extract her immediately. Instead, he exited the room and left the college, heading back to the manor.
Upon returning alone, Viper expressed surprise. "What happened? Where is the person you talked about?"
Max clarified, "I observed the situation, and there wasn't an immediate threat, so I didn't bring her out."
Kitty couldn't help but inquire, "Can you tell us who it is now?"
"Rogue."
"Rogue?" Kitty asked, astonished.
Recalling his earlier explanation about Sentinels copying mutant abilities, Max said, "Remember when I mentioned that the true threat of Sentinels lies in their ability to replicate mutant powers? Well, Rogue is the source of that ability."
Understanding dawned on everyone, and their concern deepened.
Max slowly shared his thoughts, and after deliberation, Kitty voiced her concern. "The risk seems substantial. Are you sure there won't be any issues?"
"It should be relatively safe, and we can retreat if necessary," Max assured.
Sonia voiced her agreement, and Lauren remained silent.
"Then it's settled. I'll take you there tomorrow," Max concluded with a smile.
After discussing business, it was time to rest.
