Chapitre 17: Conflicts on Asgard

Volstagg frowned, "We should never have let him go."

"I would rather have Sun then Loki." sif sighed

"I was talking about Thor."

"At least he's only banished, not dead." Fandral interjected, "Which is what we'd all be if Sun hadn't told Odin where we'd gone."

Sif snorted, "Of course he would, what was his reasoning's for doing so?."

"Maybe he was jealous of his brother?"

Loki snorted, "Don't be foolish." he sneered, "Sun and I love Thor more than you all ever could,, Sun was most likely preventing us from getting killed."

"Something he could have done himself if he had joined us." Sif glared at him, "Instead he cowardly-"

"Acting smart is not acting cowardly." Loki sneered, Remembering what Sun had taught him, "Even If Sun did not tell father, I was going to, Sun saved our lives And Thor's. I had no idea Father would banish him for what he did. "

"Then you're the only one who can help Thor now." Sif pleaded, " You must go to the Allfather and convince him to change his mind!"

"And if I do, then what?" Loki asked, "I love Thor more dearly than any of you, but you know what he is. He's arrogant. He's reckless. He's dangerous." Loki looked to each of them. "You saw how he was today. Is that really what Asgard needs from its King?"

The others exchange glances, torn. Loki has a point. He

leaves the room. Hogun stares after him.

"He may speak about the good of Asgard," he began,"but he's always been

jealous of Thor."

\

"Laufey said there were traitors inthe House of Odin." The others turned and were surprised to see that the one who usually is quiet speaking.

Fandral sighed, "Why is it every time you choose to speak, it has to be something dark and ominous?"

hHogun ignored his statement and continued on with what he was saying before, " A master of magic could easily bring three Jotuns into Asgard." The others warriors turn to look to Hogun, they then understanding the implication of what he was trying to say

"No!" Voltagg responded immediately, "Surely not!

"Loki's always been one for mischief, but you're talking about something else entirely." vandral agreed.

"Who else could elude Heimdall's gaze with tricks of light and shadow?" Sif asked. "It is either him or Sun."

" The ceremony was interrupted just before Thor was named King." Volstagg replied

"We should go to the Allfather." Sif suggested

"And tell him what?" Fanadral asked sarcastically "Oh, by the way,we think your son just betrayed the throne. And do us a favor. Bring back Thor. There's a good fellow!"

"It's our duty." Sif growled, "If any of our suspicions are right, then all of Asgard is in grave danger."

.....

Meanwhile Loki heads in towards the vault as he does, he sees the Casket of the Ancient Winters sitting on its stand. He walks over to it slowly, before he reaches out to it, lifts it between his forearms off it pedestal. As he does, a blueness spreads from his arms, across his body. The latticework behind the Casket starts to separate, the Destroyer rousing. A fire starts to glow within its black metal armor, as it rattles to life, but

Loki ignores it, the blueness spreading further, consuming his whole body.

"Stop!"

Loki turned to see his father Odin the all-father, rushing quickly into the room. meanwhile the destroyer goes motionless, the latticework rejoining it.

Odin stares at Loki, his eyes could be seen with clear dismay.

"Am I cursed?" Loki asked

"No. " Odin said quickly, "Put the Casket down." Loki sets the Casket back upon its pedestal, his body quickly returning to its normal form and color. He stares at his father.

"What am I?" Loki asked

"You're my son." Odin replied

"What more than that?" Loki pressed on, he knew his father wasn't telling him everything, and that everything was the key to what he wanted to know. Odin doesn't answer. He looks suddenly weary, and burdened. Loki sizes him up, realizes the truth.

"The Casket wasn't the only thing you took from Jotunheim that day, was it? Odin looks him in the eye. He can deny it no longer."

"No." Odin sighed, "In the aftermath of the battle, I went into the Temple, and I found a baby. Small for a giant's offspring-- abandoned, suffering, left to die. Laufey's son.

Loki is sent reeling by the revelation.

"I am Laufey's son...He desperately struggles to make sense of it all.

"Why?" Loki whispered, "You were knee-deep in Jotun blood. Why would you take me?"

"You were an innocent child." Loki wasn't having it

"There were a lot of innocent abandoned children, but yet you took me."

Loki's eyes widened before he snarled, "You took me for a purpose," he growled, "what was it?"

Odin remained silent.

"Tell me!" Loki roared

Odin looked 1,000 years older

"I thought we could unite our kingdoms one day, bring about an alliance, bring about a permanent peace... through you. But those plans no longer matter.

"So I am no more than another stolen relic, locked up here until you might have use of me." Loki snarked

Odin sighed, "Why do you twist my words?"

Loki scoffed

"You could have told me what I was from the beginning." Loki said, "But you didn't... Why didn't you?

"You are my son!" Odin said firmly, "My blood. I wanted only to protect you from the truth."

"Because I am the monster parents tell their children about at night," Loki sneered "what about Sun is he adopted too? Is he the same as me, is that why they look at him with such loathing?"

Loki backs away

"Loki...Don't..."

"It all makes sense now." he said "Why you favored Thor all these years...."

"Listen..."

"No matter how much you claim to "love me, you could never have a Frost Giant sitting on the throne of Asgard!" Odin's body begins to shake, he lifts his hand. It starts to move out of synch temporarily, leaving a trail, the effect of the Odinsleep approaching. Loki doesn't notice as Odin tries to fight it off.

"Listen to me!"

Loki ignores him, and starts to move towards the exit, completely oblivious to is going on inside of his father.

"Loki!" This time it was weaker, and much more desperate, as he tried to get to his youngest Son.

Odin starts to move towards him, but when the enormous mental, emotional, and physical strain of recent events finally takes its toll. The effect of the Odinsleep consumed him. His entire body now moves out of sync with the rest of the world, leaving trails behind him as he staggers backwards. H

Odin fell back against a wall, his face contorting in a scream. He collapses to the stone floor. and his vision turns black Loki, shocked, hurried to him. He takes Odin in his arms, calls out.
