"I'm sure she'll find someone better, mother." The middle aged lady, Mie's mom said. "There are many of fishes in the river."

Is that something you can say to someone nursing a broken heart?

"Mom, you are not helping." Mie whined. "Adams is already engaged. Can you stop bringing this up. I think she's even better off without him." She addressed her mom but her eyes were glued on me. Gauging my reaction.

Did I hear wrong?

"Engaged?" I stiffened. What is she talking about? 

"He got engaged about a week ago." She nodded. "It must be hard on you, but don't take it personal, there better men than him anyway."

He ....got into another engagement?
