Chapitre 41: Need and Want

Leila's POV

My heart was overworking tonight, thundering loudly against my chest.

I stared at Alpha Matteo's lips, disbelief clouding my judgment as the mouth that begged forgiveness only moments ago was the same mouth that has ruined my life.

His words were poison-coated with fake concern and sweet lies, hiding their tenacity.

I felt disgusted for even considering his offer. But I can't deny the sincerity I felt while staring into his eyes. Despite what was going on, I heard his struggle to voice out his apology. It made me wonder why and also think badly of him. I mean, how hard was it to say sorry?

Gathering the last ounce of strength I could, I freed myself from his hold, growling and glaring at him.

“You can’t fool me!” I hissed, taking a step away from him and putting more distance between us. I wanted nothing to do with him.
