Slam! The door slammed behind Elijah after he dragged Keagan into the spacious bathroom of their shared unit. He then threw her to the floor.
"Do you know what you just did to me?" He screamed at her, motioning to swing his arms to punch down. However, he kept stopping himself halfway. He just roared in frustration before pacing back and forth. "Why did you have to be too much of a bother? All I asked you to do is to sit still and be pretty. What was so hard about that? HUH?"
"I'm sorry… I'm sorry…" Keagan cried as she pulled herself away from him. Her tears rolled off her face as she did her best to find a place where Elijah wouldn't hit her. Even if he had yet to lay anything on her body, dragging her around by the hair was not beneath him. No matter how much he stopped himself from punching her, it might not stand soon.
Elijah only held onto his forehead and walked around. He arrived by the sink and leaned against it, trying to calm himself. Then, he caught a glimpse of himself and Keagan in the mirror. Bang! His fist couldn't help but punch the thing and break it into pieces.
Keagan screamed as the mirror shattered. She lifted her face and saw how much blood flowed from his knuckle. The hand was even shaking from the force of the blow.
Bringing his hand to his face, Elijah examined his bruised and cut hand. He then began picking the shards of his skin. "Leave."
"Elijah—"
"I don't care if you have nowhere to go. Grab my card and rent a room, fly abroad—I don't care. Leave my sight, Keagan." Elijah turned to face her with a murderous gaze. "If you don't pick up yourself right now, I will kill you."
Pure terror ran through her system as she looked at that face. Her boyfriend, who had been nothing but tolerant of her, was threatening her now. Keagan knew that after that scandal years ago, he had never been the same. Right now, instead of checking up on her, he was even shooing her away. He didn't even care if she was sickly.
Then again, she knew Elijah. If he said he didn't want to see her again, he would erase her from existence. There was no reason for her to stay and gamble with her life. With that, Keagan got up from the floor despite the pain. She needed to leave to salvage whatever she could.
"Not with that."
When Keagan heard his voice, Elijah had already grabbed the back collar of the gown. The way he grabbed it even ripped it from the side stitches. Keagan turned to see his image over her shoulders, and his eyes never had been colder. With a whimper, Keagan raced to get her hands to reach the back zipper. She could have grabbed his hand, but he took it back faster than she could reach out.
Zip! Keagan quickly got the exquisite gown off of her. Even if she was left in her underwear and adhesive bra, she still left the bathroom. A quick trip to the bedroom was made, and she could only grab a blue dress to cover herself. She also kicked the high-heeled shoes off before making it out of the unit.
Outside, Keagan suddenly stopped and ripped the earrings off her ears. She tossed them to the door and ran off without claiming anything from the unit anymore.
That was right. Ever since she got caught up in that scandal, her life had been ruined. If Elijah didn't break up with her, she was already in the streets. Tonight, however, she was also chased away from the supposed haven of his love. There was no more love… only a trophy he could show off to people. Now that the trophy fell and earned a dent, there was no more point in keeping it.
Whoever wanted Keagan could simply take care… if anyone even wanted her.
…
"I should look for a place to stay…" Keagan's murmur was quickly washed off by the downpour that came out of nowhere. The dark night obscured the black clouds so much that no one realized it was going to rain. Keagan just wanted to sleep the world away, but it was too cold for her to become numb.
Shift. Shift. Keagan rubbed her arms to generate heat, but the blue dress was not designed to combat the rain. She just managed to grab it because she was wearing it before they left for the party that evening. Right now, rather than provide cover, it was even sticking to her skin and thinning down after getting soaked under the rain.
Keagan was not the only person waiting out the downpour. It was past midnight, and it was the time for some dangerous men to be roaming the night. The two men standing on Keagan's other side-eyed her differently, especially when her dark underwear peeked from the sheering dress. No one needed see-through glasses to find no bra just from looking at her back.
One man coughed out of nowhere and stepped back to lean on the black mirror behind them. They were right in front of a closed store, and there was enough space for people to pass. It was just that, from behind, it was so easy to follow the fullness of her bottom.
"Miss, where are you headed? Maybe we can walk you…" the other man asked to distract Keagan. The lady only looked in his direction, her quivering red lips trying their best to stay closed. "We don't mind."
He reached out behind her to grab her shoulder, but Keagan decided to run and cross the car-less street. A scream came from her when she caught how they chased her down. The fish out of the water was running away, and it would be stupid for them to let it slide.
Keagan didn't know the streets all that much. She just ran and ran until she collided with a wall. She even dared to climb the high obstacle just to survive. It was just that the men grabbed her ankles. Her legs were too weak to kick them off, so they were able to pull her down.
"Help me…!" She cried after groaning at the impact against the muddy and grimy ground. She screamed some more when one of the men held her arms against the ground. The other mounted her.
"Stop struggling. Just let me taste you…" The man laughed before he grabbed the collar of her dress and ripped it open. When the material ripped, Keagan just wanted to die then and there.
"Maybe that would be a good line for me to say as well."
Someone suddenly spoke amid the roaring rain, deafening screams, and malicious laughter. Her voice was as crisp as the thunder, silencing Keagan in an instant. It even felt like she had heard that voice before, but she couldn't put a finger on it at the moment.
