Chapitre 6: Small Ripple to Enormous Tsunami: part 1
Ruby then lowers her gun down as she only looks towards the person in front of her as she then walks towards them.
"You? "What are you doing here?" said Ruby as she looked at the person in front of her, which made the person tilt their head in surprise and confusion.
"You know me?" said the voice that sounded feminine as she then looked at Ruby with a brow raised with a weird feeling of familiarity.
"Well I don't know you but i've seen you in the cafeteria with R- that guy, uh Ren if i heard correctly" as she said as she nearly slipped on saying his name but then covered it as her saying that's what she heard the name was.
Then the person nods "Yup that's Renny I was hoping that we would be partners like originally when I was making the sounds of a sloth but I always wondered if a sloth could even make a sound but then again we never know but anyways my name is Nora Valkyrie nice to meet ya um… Hoodie girl?" Nora Valkyrie is now introduced but doesn't know the young girl's name.
which again Ruby is inwardly surprised but doesn't show it out worldly, Ruby has learned to mask her emotions thanks to her future memories and the experience she is easily able to slide on and mimic the mask that she once wore.
As she puts on a fake wide smile that it can easily fool anyone who looks at it but yet the smile still shows a bit sincere as she stretches her hand out to the girl and introduces herself.
"Hello Nora My name is Ruby Rose I guess that makes us partners" she said as Nora smiled at her and gripped on her hand HARD as an audible crack was heard, Ruby wincing in pain as Nora didn't notice the young writhing in pain as Nora cartoonishly shook Ruby's hand as the girl was shaken up and down like she weight nothing more than a feather by the ginger girl with seemingly limitless energy.
"Oh hi Ruby it's so nice to meet you, partner now let's go on an adventure to find these relics to ace this test " said an excited Nora as she was dragging the young girl behind her.
"Wait! Nora, wait! Wait!" Ruby could only yell in wanting the girl to wait, but the girl didn't hear her, and so she was dragged into the forest with an over-hyped girl.
Jaune could only stare in surprise at the person in front of him as they pointed to two green pistols with daggers on the ends built in them.
"You?" The only thing that they said, easily, was that the voice was male.
Jaune was shocked Lie ren was right in front of him and is now technically His partner and not Nora's this is a surprising turn of events but yet the guilt resurfaced up his chest once more but he pushed it to the side as he slips on his mask with frightening ease as he stretches out his hand and smiles.
"Hey I think we already introduced each other, but why not one more time?" said Jaune as Ren Nods reaches to his hand and lightly shakes it, a small smile gracing his lips.
"Ok then, I am Lie Ren Pleasure to meet you partner" Ren introduced himself to his now partner.
"Jaune arc, and same here partner" said Jaune with ease, but within his mind is another story.
'Ren, why… why Ren I'm trying not to mess up your chances for a better future for you, but why? Why this? Why now? Why try to be close to me? It's better to just leave me, to avoid me like the plague just please leave for your sake, go find Nora and be partners and just…' but his train of thoughts were stopped to a halt due to Ren speaking to him.
"So Jaune, are you going to let go of my hand anytime soon? I'm flattered, but sorry, I don't swing that way? He said with a small teasing smirk appearing on his face with Jaune instantly letting go in a comedic motion.
"No! no I… I was lost in my head, and sorry about that" he said as rubs the back of his neck in a nervous manner as a sweatdrop appears on his forehead 'I forgot that Ren use to lightly tease us during our time at Beacon' he thought to himself as he could only chuckle to himself.
Ren joins in the chuckle as he rubs his hand in a soothing manner 'Jaune surprisingly has a strong grip, not like Nora's but i'll give him a 7/10'
"It's cool, don't worry about it, we were all in high stress, so it makes sense," Ren said as he nodded in a kind understanding with a nod of acceptance.
" Uh, hey? I have a question, if you don't mind me asking" Jaune asked with Ren, nodding at him to ask away.
"Where did you come from?" he asked, Ren raised a brow in confusion on what he meant by that as he was about to point up in the air, but as if Jaune could read his mind, he corrected the question.
"Wait what I mean by that, is that I noticed that you were sent to another direction so I kinda didn't think it was possible to… Well you know to meet and be partners you know, no offense! youseemtobelikeacoolguyandallbutIdidn'tthinkitwaspossible seeachohteruntilwegetintobeaconandgainourteamsand…i'll…i'll just stop talking now"Jaune cleared himself to Ren as he then try to save the conversation but then fell into the old habit of Rambling as he wisely decided to keep his mouth shut at the end.
Ren lightly chuckled at how his new partner reacted by being very socially awkward by just asking a question as a light smile adorned his lips and made a quiet ah sound.
"Well to answer your question, I fell off the edge of a small cliff after trying to fight a-"
- a few minutes before -
As then it goes to Ren was shot into the air and then doing some acrobatics on some strong branches and digs the two daggers that were built in the guns in one of the trunks to slow his descent he then got off the trunk of the tree.
He walked with his guard up and guns in hand prepared for sudden attacks as he walked past a small narrow dirt path without him knowing as he passed blood red dimly glowing eyes slowly open as then something slowly passed behind Ren, he quickly turned around guns aimed at the ready but nothing there.
Then the bush lightly rustles he jumps back and shoots two bullets as he stands guard but then a small rabbit hopped out looking at Ren as it began shivering in what seems like with great fear, Ren felt sorry for scaring the small animal putting away his guns as he slowly walked up to the tiny animal he then was about to pet it but it instantly hopped away as Ren looked a bit saddened.
then red dimly light eyes staring from behind him in a predatory gaze.
He didn't seem to notice.
"Hmm, that's odd?" Ren muttered to himself while not turning around.
Then the grimm slowly and stealthily began to slither behind him lightly flicking its tongue, it's gaze narrowed and silently unhinged it's jaw it's dangerously sharp and large fangs showing then it striked inches away from devouring the person whole it all
Going into slow motion, the boy turned his head slightly, his calm expression never changing as it hit where he was standing and smoke was made.
But nothing the grimm felt, nothing in which it didn't eat its prey whole, mirroring a sense of confusion the grimm looked around not seeing its prey anywhere.
Ren hiding behind a tree heavily panting with his body slightly shaking even with his semblance able to calm him down but his body is still able to react to his near death experience as a dim green glow surrounding him as he seemed to look almost colored down to a grayish color.
As Ren looked down at his hand, that was shaking.
'I phased through the grimm?' he inwardly thought in confusion why and how were the only going through his mind he never knew of this part of his semblence could he always have been able to do that? he didn't know, but then a single drop of sweat ran down his face and just as it fell towards the dirt, the enormous grimm's head peaked right next to the tree that he was hiding behind, the tongue flicking out. it was trying to taste out the smell from the negativity, though his emotions were restrained, negativity among them, but what of his natural scent, even though a monster, it was still part animal.
then the enormous grimm tilted its head to his direction the grimm's eyes looking, staring into his while Ren can only look back in a still calm manner yet only silently taking shallow breaths hoping that his breathing won't make him be noticed by the grimm , then the rustling of leaves catching both of their attention but only the grimm pounced as it then went passed Ren as he saw it was that of a giant black snake with its jaw bone sticking out showing it's six rows of teeth one row on each side of the lower jaws and two rows on each side of the upper jaws.
then the color of black of one half of the snake began to fade into white on the other end but a squeak of fear was heard as Ren saw the small rabbit from before as it was downed and one of its legs was bleeding as it tried to hop away but it couldn't
Due to the injury on its leg, it looked back on the giant serpent in fear, and then Ren could only see with memories flashing through his mind.
The quick images of Grimm that ran past him going after other people that were close, no man , woman or child spared with no hint of mercy shown, all slaughtered no one left alive as he looks down as an orange haired girl was in his arms looking on with a look of fear with in her eyes but yet outwardly she seemed to be calm.
But then the memory faded out as it came back to the present as he then noticed that he was now looking down to the present as he looked as he seemed to have the rabbit that was in danger just a moment ago and he looked around to see that he was out in the open and heard a roar of pain as he saw that one of the eyes were bleeding a black inky substance from it's right eye as then he looks on too see the other end of the snake began to raise and the other end of showed another head of a snake they were interconnected as the other head of the snake looked at the one that had the bleeding eye, turned towards Ren, it's eyes gleam became sinister as it hissed dangerously at him, it's jaw become unhinged as then a reflection of green was seen within the back of its mouth.
Ren on instinct rolled out of the way with the rabbit in his arms in which was the right move because when he turned around to the ground where he was once standing the green liquid began to quickly sink down the ground as smoke rose and hissing sound came from the liquid as he could only look worriedly.
'Acid!? The King Taiju can spit out acid!?' he thought in surprise at the new information that he just found out about as he then looked between the rabbit and the giant grimm snake, without warning it pounced towards him in great speed but he figured it would so he used his aura on his legs and eyes to be able to react fast enough and to see the speed of the grimm turned in to moderate speed.
He then moved out of the way as he used his Aura in a quick and powerful burst on his legs to be able to up his speed to be able dodge just in time as the white snake went past him but then looked to his left side as then another large jaw shot towards him as on instinct his aura roared to life surrounding both him and the small Rabbit with large open jaw of the grimm closed in he instinctively closed his eyes and tightened his grip on the Rabbit.
With then, his life began flashing before his eyes.
-Flashback-
As a Younger Ren looks out into the small gentle river as it carries a lotus flower in Its calm stream but then
(AN: I don't know if it's just me but the way I pronounce Rens first name is Lee-eh, not lie like lying but that's just me sorry for the rambling, let's continue)
"Lie" Called out a feminine voice, the boy Turned to a woman with crimson pink hair and eyes as she looks down at the young boy with a calm and soft smile as little Ren smiles brightly back at her and runs towards with a hop on his step and tackles her into a hug which made her stumble slightly as she almost dropped the basket of clothing but didn't as she tightened the grip on the basket.
"Mama!" Little Ren excitedly as the mother lightly chuckled as she lovingly rustled his hair.
"Come Ren let's go home my little viper" she said lovingly as she began to walk back to the village but noticed that her son wasn't walking next to him and noticed that he seemed saddened by something as he sadly pouts ashe looks down to his feet as he fidgeted, as she looks at him with worry she walks back to him gently lays down the basket of clothing as she kneels to his height.
"What's wrong, my little viper?" she asked softly as he began to cutely glower at the nickname that she gave him as she sees the reactions towards the nickname she thought of for him with a lot of thought and care but still decided to ask what was bothering even though she has a rough idea but still.
"Mama can… can you please stop calling me that" he asked, not looking at her eyes directly as she could only look at him sadly, but a small, soft smile rose to her features.
"Okay if that's what you want, my little vi- Lie" she was about to use the nickname out of habit but stopped herself and then decided to say his first name in the same loving manner.
But Ren could only feel guilty as it felt wrong to tell her not to call him that nickname she constantly used. It felt wrong being called by his first name from his mom, but he was always curious why she called him 'little viper' as his curiosity grew he couldn't help but ask.
"Um mom?" he shyly called out to her.
"Yes Little Ren?" She responded in kind.
"Umm why…why do you call me a little viper?" he asked curiously as he then looked up to her as she arched her brow in a curious manner with an unidentifiable gleam in her eyes.
"Oh what brought this on?" she asked fadedly as she could already guess why he was asking her this but still let's him speak.
"Umm nothing just curious" he said as he lightly tugged his shirt down, and then a proud smile surged up to her face.
"Well there are multiple reasons why, for one snakes specifically vipers are my favorite animals no matter how dangerous they are" she said in which caused Ren to look gobsmacked at her reaction in which she could only laugh at his reaction to her answer but he angrily pouted cutely to her which made her laugh even louder.
"Mama!, I'm serious" he whined as he blushed in embarrassment as her laughing subsided as she waved her hand.
"I'm sorry, i'm sorry it's just your reactions are just too cute not to tease you my little Ren" she chuckled out, Ren could only cross his arms still pouting cutely in indignation at his mom.
"But would you like to know why I like snakes?" she asked him. Ren, with his childish curiosity, nodded as she then gently pats Ren's head .
"It's for what they symbolize Ren" she said sagely as Ren could only tilt his head cutely as a glimmer of Light caught his eye as he saw a pendant of a jaded snake, his mother seems to notice so she decided to gingerly unclasped The necklace and show him the pendant up close as he sees the pendant in full of the jaded snake eating itself with the eye of the pendant being an enchanting crimson and a gold outline to finish with.
Ren seemed fascinated with the beautiful Pendant in front of him,
his mother seems to notice his fascination with her pendant. She, too, had to admit it is a beautiful piece of craftsmanship.
"Ren" she gently called to him as he looked at her.
" The snake has many meanings" she clarified to his curiosity, easily evident within his eyes as he smiled eagerly.
"What is it, Mama? What is it!?" He asked eagerly, his curiosity hardly able to be contained. She could only lightly chuckle as her son's curiosity peaked.
"Well-"
-Flashback end-
The words of his mother's words begin to ring within the background as everything within his visions was still in slow motion.
The snake represents many things: Ren, health, wisdom, and many more, but personally, I think it helps with their personal growth
With instinct alone, his Aura surrounded both him and the rabbit as they phased through the snake and quickly faced the giant snake, swiftly taking out his gun aimed at the serpent, pulling the trigger.
The person's fortune.
The gun clicked, pulled the trigger again, it clicked again.
"Dammit, it's jammed!" Ren swore under his breath with the other end of the snake attacking without thinking Ren jumped into the air with pouring aura in to his legs but then a loud hiss was heard to his left as he saw the black end of the King Taiju striked towards him with jaws wide once again he was about to be eaten he was about to use semblance once more but nothing came no aura surrounded him.
'I've run out of Aura!'
With the King Taiju closing in he closes his eyes waiting his death, yet it never happened , but surprisingly he shot up into the air again as the King Taiju flew past under him with him noticing a purple aura was surrounding with quickly finds the cause of origins of the sudden aura and it was a pleasant surprise.
The Rabbit is surrounded by the purple aura.
as it then began to use it again to rocket away from the grimm as for Ren he was being dragged behind by the rabbit that was somehow jumping in the air as if stepping on a platform in odd angles to get as far from the monster.
the King Taiju following suit.
The rabbit's aura began Flickering as they fell To dirt rolling and tumbling, he quickly picked himself up, rabbit still in his arms and continued running towards a random direction not knowing where he's running towards but not really caring at the moment as they were being tailed by the big grimm.
But after frantically moving the foliage of leaves he quickly stopped as he stared down at the edge of a cliff with pebbles falling from the edge of the cliff adding onto a sense of despair as it began to swell within his chest, he looks behind him, The King Taiju approaching closely, he looks at the end of the cliff then back at the grimm right behind him, he steel's his resolve and closes his eyes, the grimm hissed harshly at his back, and Ren jumps of the cliff.
They also mean protection to watch over them.
Ren feeling the rush of air Rush past him quickly descending but then suddenly stopped the feeling of air rushing past him, He squinted open his eyes and sees that he's still in the air but he is being held up by a branch as it held a surprisingly has a lot of strength to hold both him and the rabbit.
With the grimm snake down on the floor but still seeming alive due to it not turning into small dark particles and turning into a pool of inky blackness.
The branch then suddenly snapped under the combined weight of man and rabbit, they both yelped in reaction And fell on top of a bush both being cushioned by the fall as the rabbit saw that he's on safe ground, hopped off him, squeaked, in gratitude and hoped away.
He gets himself up shaking off the leaves, smiling, with a rustling of leaves heard as quite groan was let out, he once more took out his twin pistols as he quickly was able to unjam them making the sound of being locked and loaded as he aims at the bush with caution, with a pair of hands reach the air showing it means no harm with them walking up showing himself as the boys sapphire eyes shown surprise.
and They sometimes are a guide to where you're needed most.

"and then after falling on a bush that cushioned my fall," Ren spreads his arms, indicating where they're at now.
"Well it seems that you went through some stuff huh" Jaune said with a smirk with Ren Smirking back.
"Yup now we should go and look for the relics that Headmaster Ozpin was talking about" said Ren as he began to walk away Jaune was about to follow but a small glimmer caught his eye as goes closely to it and picks it up to see a jaded snake eating itself with a golden outline and crimson eye he looked at in awe but He quickly shook his head.
"Hey Ren!" He called To him, the young man turned to him, Jaune held up the pendant.
"I believe that this belongs to you?" He asked politely, with Ren checking his neck and slightly surprised him that he had dropped something so precious to him.
"thank you Jaune I would have never noticed until we were at the place where the relics were gathered or sooner but i greatly appreciate it" he said in thankful tone and kindly bowed to him In gratitude as clasping the pendant more securely around his neck and began to head off with Jaune leading the way.
But unbeknownst to them in the background, something slowly slithered from tree to tree as a single eyelid opened threateningly, glowing a blood red.
