Silence lingered as Evelyn lowered her head, unable to look at the new Damien, or Daemon. She was feeling fear at the possible confirmation of her thoughts.

When the silence extended for too long, and she noticed the hands treating her had stopped moving, she finally looked up.

She was met with a speechless look on Daemon's face.

"Damien?"

The man took a deep breath, and said:

"It's Daemon. And what's with that look? Have you become stupid over the years? What have you been eating."

He used the index finger of his left hand to give a little push to her forehead, but that familiar gesture instead diverted a bit of Evelyn's attention and made her smile.
