On the polished floor lay several broken plates, scattered into pieces.
Rong Zi Chen gave an awkward chuckle, "It's my first time doing the dishes."
The kettle on the stove started to whistle.
"What are you boiling water for?" Lan Xin Ai asked, puzzled.
"Making tea. Only boiling-hot water can bring out the best flavor." Rong Zi Chen shrugged his shoulders. Drinking tea after meals had been his habit for years.
The kettle made a hissing noise, signaling that the water had boiled.
Rong Zi Chen moved to turn off the power, but his right foot stepped on a piece of broken plate. He slipped, hurtling toward Lan Xin Ai.
The whole incident happened so fast that in a blink of an eye, Rong Zi Chen was about to land on Lan Xin Ai.
Just as it was about to happen, a tall figure flashed, and Lan Xin Ai spun around, avoiding Rong Zi Chen.
"Thud!"
Shortly followed by a muffled groan from a man.
