But now everything had changed and he was getting great pleasure from watching this man become agitated. Ambassador Carl Reese shuffled his feet in frustration as his requests went unanswered.

“You are holding a U.S. citizen. We are only asking to talk to her.”

Miguel looked up at the woman who dared to demand his attention. Who was this woman who pushed so hard? He had not seen her before and immediately disliked the way she spoke. Here was a woman who did not know her place. She needed someone to teach her to be quiet.

Maggie observed him looking past her into the ambassador’s face. “Your request has been forwarded. If permission is granted, you will be notified.”

“When?” demanded Maggie.

Damn that woman! Was written all over Miguel’s face.

“When the permission is granted.” Miguel looked into her face with finality.

“That woman should have diplomatic immunity. You can’t hold her without counsel!” Maggie’s voice was getting tighter and louder.
