Chapitre 238: Sweet End

***JAKE'S POV***

Albert had summoned several of the other staff members, each of them holding a very large fire extinguisher. Together, Albert, my staff, and the FBI agents that finally started to react to the fire, had managed to put out the blaze before it could consume the entire home. There was a lot of damage to this room, and the wall on the other side of it, but that was all. The rest of the large condo was intact. That was good. I didn't want to destroy Hayden's house.

It took a little while to get things settled down in the condo. And I could tell that adrenaline and tensions were still running high, but we were all safe. The only one that had been harmed was Desdemona. And she was the villain of the story, so I wasn't sorry to see that happen. Honestly, this wasn't the first time that one of the stories ended in someone's death. Actually, more often than not, that was how it had ended up, so I was used to it by now.
