Lia shuddered. For a moment, she sat still as if she hadn't heard him. She then gripped the edge of the bed tightly, her knuckles white and asked again. "Is there really something like that?" she trembled, her voice barely audible. "How?"

"I'm not sure," Ethan admitted. "But I want to try. I just need to know if you want to take the risk." He already knew the answer but he asked anyway. "You may or may not get a class but maybe you can level."

For a long moment, there was only silence between them. Lia's gaze flicked to the floor, then back to Ethan, her expression conflicted. Finally, she gave a small, hesitant nod. "I... if it doesn't harm you. Please help me."

Ethan felt a little surprised that she thought about him even when there was an opportunity to change her life. Many people he knew in the past would simply jump on it damned be the consequences. He smiled.

"Okay. Let's do it." Without further delay, Ethan pressed the 'yes' option. Maybe it was risky, but he felt like he was doing the right thing. The next second, a new notification flashed in front of him.

Ethan snapped his head to look as a warm glow surrounded Lia's body and then she completely disappeared right in front of his eyes.

"Fuck! Fuck! Fuck!" He became livid.

What did he do just now? Even if she was living a miserable life, at least she was alive. Couldn't he have simply sent her to his house to work as a maid or something? He could have used his family's influence. He could have maybe just earned some money and rented a house for her.

Or he could have waited to do anything at all. He was still new to this damned world and there was so much he did not know about it.

His hand was already drenched in blood but he did not feel guilty about that. This was different. This was an innocent person. Panic surged through him when the next notification finally popped up.

"Yes?" Ethan had no idea what was happening but things seemed to be working in the way he thought they would. Except he didn't freaking expect Lia to disappear completely. "Come on. Bring her back… the same way." He mumbled waiting for the system prompt.

Ethan opened and closed his mouth wordlessly before moving on to the next option.

Ethan sighed in relief as he read the third option. Though not entirely fair, the first and the third ones seemed not too predatory. Among the two, the third one offered more strength and power but when he considered what he knew about Lia so far, she did not appear to be the frontlines type.

Naturally, he did not know her too well. It would be ideal if he could discuss the options with her before taking a decision. However, that did not look like a choice. So he decided to go with his gut and selected the [Faithful Servant] option.

In the blink of an eye, Lia reappeared in the same spot where she had vanished. She looked... different, though the changes were subtle. Her posture seemed less hunched, her pale complexion had a faint glow of vitality, and her once dull eyes carried a spark of alertness.

Lia blinked, staring at her hands as if they belonged to someone else. "I… I feel strange," she whispered, her voice steadier than before.

She looked up at Ethan, a mixture of confusion and curiosity in her gaze. Her eyes then suddenly widened in shock and froze as she stared at the system notifications in front of her.
