Chapitre 224: Chapter 223: The World of Naruto Through the Eyes of Yuto Hyuga

Yuto lay on the lead-gray sand sea, his Byakugan allowing him to easily see what this world, known as the "Pure Land," was like—an endless desert under a boundless night sky, with nothing between them, like a blank canvas waiting to be painted.

The near-eternal silence filled this world, making it a place far more terrifying than the Shikkotsu Forest.

Yet, even in such a place, Yuto's eyes reflected many colors—the remnants of chakra left behind by deceased shinobi.

Despite being in the Pure Land, Yuto felt no panic.

Arranging a summoning technique deep beneath the sea, though extremely dangerous, would not instantly crush or kill a top-tier shinobi like Yuto.

He was well aware that he hadn't died.

With his eyes closed, Yuto continued to lie on the gray sand sea of the Pure Land. Surprisingly, he found himself feeling extremely comfortable, as if he were in warm amniotic fluid.

"You seem quite at ease."

A voice echoed in the Pure Land, but it didn't belong to Yuto.

"Emotions are often useless," Yuto said, opening his eyes but not getting up, still lying on the sand. "Greetings… Your Excellency."

"Your Excellency? That's a rare form of address."

"It suits you well, after all…" Yuto paused before softly continuing, "You are the Sage of Six Paths."

With a soft thud, an elderly man dressed in a white robe sat down beside Yuto.

His appearance was peculiar—brown hair, a goatee, two horns protruding from his head, and apart from the two purple Rinnegan, a crimson eye on his forehead.

The person who summoned Yuto to the "land of endless reincarnation" was none other than the founder of ninjutsu—Hagoromo Otsutsuki, the Sage of Six Paths!

The night sky was vast, and the sand sea was desolate. The silence between reality seemed to have left only the fate-deciding pair, one old and one young.

"I thought you'd attack me with Yin-Yang Release without saying a word," Yuto said lazily, yawning with a soft laugh. "I've prepared an eight-digit series of explosive tags, thinking it wouldn't hurt to get the first strike in… Sage, let me ask you straight—are explosive tags effective against you?"

"No, they're not," the Sage of Six Paths replied seriously. "Yin-Yang Release can turn blazing flames into a gentle breeze."

"Ah… That's quite blunt. So, Your Excellency, do you intend to kill me?"

"You don't seem afraid of death."

"For a shinobi, death is the final form," Yuto said, grabbing a handful of gray sand and letting it flow through his fingers. "Only in the moment of death can we truly see who we are. In some ways, I look forward to eternal sleep."

Hagoromo Otsutsuki looked at the young man lying beside him. Those familiar white eyes brought back memories.

A thousand years ago, Hagoromo also enjoyed sitting on the ground, gazing at the Divine Tree in the distance while conversing with his brother, Hamura.

The pure white eyes, without the contrast of other colors, struggled to convey rich emotions. But Hagoromo and his brother had spent so much time together that Hamura had nearly become a part of him.

At this moment, the Sage of Six Paths could see the emotions in Yuto's eyes with absolute clarity.

This young man was not lying. Even if he lost everything, he would continue down that path, further and further.

There was no point in trying to persuade someone like Yuto. The only way to stop him was to kill him!

"Sigh…"

The Sage of Six Paths sighed deeply but didn't make a move.

He had lived for over a thousand years, and even after "dying," he could still maintain his spirit with chakra, walking between the Pure Land and the living world, earning the title of Sage. It was not merely the adulation of future generations.

But even he, and even his mother, Kaguya Otsutsuki, were not omniscient or omnipotent gods. Their power had limits.

Moreover, the Sage of Six Paths' chakra was reserved for dealing with his mother.

He could kill Yuto, and even after doing so, he would still have a lot of power left. But if Kaguya were to break free of her seal in the future…

Would Yuto or his mother bring more devastation to the world? The Sage of Six Paths found it hard to decide.

But he understood that his mother's revival was almost imminent, while Yuto's path was just beginning to take shape.

"So, have you decided not to take action?" Yuto asked calmly as he got up. "Then send me back. I still need to arrange the summoning technique."

"The living cannot remain in the Pure Land for long. In a moment, you will leave here automatically."

"Thank you."

Another silence fell, and it was the Sage of Six Paths who finally spoke softly: "Young man, do you really have to walk this path? This world still…"

"I won't turn back," Yuto interrupted with a smile. "I can somewhat understand why you haven't killed me now, and I know most people would oppose my thoughts… But since I'm a shinobi, I must walk my path with conviction."

No longer the caged bird, the young man looked up at the night sky of the Pure Land, his voice echoing across the gray sand sea:

"Chakra… maybe it was never the key to peace."

"The core countries with the strongest shinobi forces engage in wars that sweep the world on average every eighteen years."

"I experienced the Third Shinobi World War firsthand, and as the first head of the ANBU, I know many secrets. From the 56th year to the 58th year of Konoha, the population of the Land of Fire decreased by thirty percent."

"That's the death toll in a strong country. The losses in smaller nations were even worse."

"After leaving Konoha, I traveled to many places. The Land of the Sea, which has no shinobi, left a deep impression on me. They've been abandoned by chakra, yet they're doing well."

"They don't use Fire Release, so they extract non-renewable underground resources. If they lack strength, they design machines. If winter is too cold, they build houses with insulating materials."

"The last large-scale war in the Land of the Sea was thirty-six years ago… And it broke out to defend against shinobi pirates!"

"So, I began to wonder if chakra should hold such an important place in the world."

"No! You're wrong." Hagoromo Otsutsuki suddenly spoke, his purple Rinnegan filled with sincerity. "Chakra is not a weapon that brings death. I created ninshu to connect everything in the world, so that everyone could understand each other's pain and emotions…"

"I believe you. I really do." Yuto turned back, speaking solemnly. "A thousand years ago, you created ninshu and passed on the true meaning of chakra to the world, genuinely hoping to create an era of mutual understanding and peace."

"Hundreds of years ago, the Hyuga ancestor who developed the Caged Bird technique certainly did so with the intention of protecting his family."

"Fifty-five years ago, Hashirama Senju established the system of one village per country, not to create a dictatorship but to build a safe environment where children could survive their childhood."

"But even now, the Shinobi World has not seen twenty years of continuous peace… Every generation of shinobi has to experience their own Shinobi World War."

"All the efforts you made for 'peace' have failed."

"But none of you were wrong. The ideals of peace and prosperity that were once filled with passion shouldn't be denied by anyone."

"But it's useless. It's objectively useless."

"So I began to think… maybe the reason the skyscraper collapsed was because the foundation wasn't laid properly… No, even that's too mild. You were building a house in the clouds!"

Golden light swirled around him, and the power of space began to tear at Yuto's body. He could smell the salty air from the depths of the sea.

The living couldn't stay in the Pure Land for long; his time was up.

Yuto's body slowly began to fade from the Pure Land.

Left behind were two final rebellious words.

"That's right, this world doesn't need chakra."

"I will end the era of shinobi."
