19.58% Life As a Support Mage of The Protagonist / Chapter 19: System Quest

Chapitre 19: System Quest

"This is big, this is really big," the receptionist repeated, looking at them with a serious look.

"There had been a caravan that once filed with coins from the taxes of this town. But it never reached its intended location. Most assumed it is bandits, but to think it is goblins,"

"How are you sure it was tax money?" Kell asked, which is a valid question.

The receptionist took out a pouch, degraded and full of holes, and took something from inside it. They could see some kind of seal as well as a badge.

"This belongs to the tax collector of the Kingdom. Anyone caught impersonating them will be executed immediately," the receptionist warned them.

"So, do we get something?" Ian asked, after all, they did some kind of service to the Kingdom, even if it was not intended.

"I will tell the head and he will likely tell the mayor. We see what will happen after that," the receptionist said but Ian could tell the man did not promise anything.

Then again, this is something big and involved those higher-ups the receptionist could not even hope to contact, so it makes sense why the man is not sure of it.

Seeing they would likely not get anything, he decided to not push. After all, they were able to determine the source of the treasures and not get themselves hunted by the Kingdom forces so it is a win in his book.

"The rewards for all the commissions you took are 76 silver coins," the receptionist put the much filled with silver coins with a smile.

Giving the man his thanks, they left the building, eager to rest for the day.

"So, the coins all from the taxes?" Fiona asked. Ian nodded, making the three girls take a deep breath. After all, unlike them, who are not from this world, they were raised in the Kingdom and so knew more things than they could ever hope for.

"Looks like doing the right thing to save us," Ana exclaimed, wiping imaginary sweat on her forehead.

"I say. Next time we find any treasures, let's see if we can determine who is the owner first, so we don't anger someone we shouldn't," the rest nodded at Lisa's suggestion.

"So, are we going to rest for tomorrow or take more commissions?" Lisa asked Ian, the unofficial planner of their party.

"We are going to take commissions for tomorrow and rest the day after," Ian decided after giving it some thought.

The rest did not oppose his decision, agreeing to do more commissions tomorrow.

In their room, Ian opened his system alongside Kell, who did the same thing.

After all, just before they were about to sleep, a notification regarding the quest section had appeared. And so, they decided to open it and see what is it all about.

Thankfully, it is good news, namely that the quest section has finally finished its uploading. They opened it, eager to see the quest they would receive.

As they open the quest tab, they receive a notification.

< Apologise for the inconvenience the user suffered during the update. To make it up to the user, the user will receive 100 pt. >

A glance at Kell showed he had received the same thing. Without exchanging any words, they look at the quest section with trepidation.

 < Daily Quest

- Kill 10 Goblins - Reward: 20 pt

- Kill 20 Slimes - Reward: 20 pt

- Kill 1 Hobgoblin - Reward - 20 pt >

After checking the Dailt Quest, he then checked the Achievement Quest.

< Achievement Quest

- Learned Recovery - Reward: 100 pt

- Learned Strength - Reward: 100 pt

- Learned Storage - Reward: 200 pt

...>

There are more but most of it is unlocked. If he had to guess, he needed to complete some of the easier Achievement Quest before he could unlock the rest.

He looked at Kell, who seemed to have the same thing as him except focusing more on his weapon skill. As expected of the Weapon Master System.

"Looks like the daily quest asks for us to kill many monsters for points," Ian exclaimed, Kell, nodding in agreement.

"So, if we need to kill monsters for points are we going to just keep killing them?" Kell asked.

"No," Ian shook his head, "Remember, this is our second life and we should do things we want, except for crime of course. But we don't need to complete the Daily Quest every day. Just complete the one we can and don't care about the rest.

After all, we don't want to suffer from burnout now, would we?" Kell shook his head. After all, he agreed with what his friends said.

"So, we don't have to complete all the Daily Quest?" Ian shook his head.

"This is going to suck," Ian agreed as well. After all, both of them, while not avid gamers, are the kind of people who play a game to complete their daily missions.

Being forced to not complete all of it would hurt their soul.

However, they did receive points from the system, so, Ian opened his system store and began to browse the books in his store. After a while, he decided on a single book.

< Grimoire of Support: Volume 1 - A Book detailing many support-type spells as well as the method to properly use and manipulate them. Only cover the very basic of support magic >

He could only buy one book, each volume 1 book cost 100 pt. He dreaded how much volume 2 would cost, or volume 3. He is sure he will be put through the wringer just to get a chance to buy the book.

At the very least, he could learn new spells. But that's for the day after tomorrow.

As they headed to the counter, they were intercepted by the receptionist.

"The branch head summoned all of you," without saying anything else, the receptionist walked away.

Confused, they decided to follow him. Thankfully, the man walked to the branch head's office.

As they entered, the middle-aged man gave them a tired smile before taking out a large pouch filled with coins, as he heard the clanking.

"The mayor is very grateful to all of you for finding and returning the content of the caravan. So, he decided to reward all of you with 200 hundred silver coins each," the head took out 4 more pouches before pushing them to them, all 5 of them having a comical look on their face.

"Isn't this a bit too much, after all, we only did the commission and found it by accident," Kell said.

"That may be true but you still returned the coins instead of keeping them, hence the mayor rewarding all of you. Not to mention the 1000 silver coins are just a small change compared to what all of you found.

He also told me, you can ask for one treasure each, and as long as it is not too exorbitant then he would comply with it,"
