They had succeeded, finally managing to kill one of the Hounts of the kingdom, a victory that should have brought relief. The death of the Hount meant a drastic reduction in the kingdom's power, a major blow that their enemies couldn't afford to recover from easily. But there was no time to celebrate. There was still one more threat, and this one far surpassed the Hount in its danger.
Chris stood amidst the wreckage of battle, his form eerily still, the cold moonlight reflecting off his shimmering blade. His comrades, having just witnessed one of their own fall, were catching their breath, trying to process the victory that had come at a heavy cost. But Chris—Chris was not like them. His gaze remained fixed on the ground, his head lowered, as if he had been frozen in place. His once fiery and determined expression was completely wiped away, replaced by a vacant, almost detached look.
