"I can't believe I'm facing Sakura…" Ino's eyes widened when she saw the names on the screen. She didn't want to fight against Sakura, who had always had a good relationship with her.
"Are you really hesitant to go all out?" Natsuro asked, concerned. He wasn't worried about Sakura; after all, she had already been in life-or-death situations, so she should be able to handle herself. But for Ino, he wasn't so sure. He felt like he remembered something like this happening before but couldn't quite recall the details.
"Of course not." Ino stared seriously at Natsuro for a moment before walking down from the audience seats.
Watching Ino's determined expression, Natsuro thought that perhaps his little girlfriend was even more capable than he had imagined.
"Don't worry, Ino will be fine," Shikamaru and Choji chimed in.
Natsuro understood. In the original story, if Sakura hadn't relied on her second personality to escape from Ino's secret technique, she would have lost long ago. Even so, it ended up as a tie.
But now, Ino's physique had been improved by Natsuro compared to the original story, and she had mastered her secret technique to a deeper level. Looking back at Sakura…
Natsuro scratched his head. He really hadn't meant for this to happen; it seemed he had distracted Sakura while teaching her genjutsu and medical ninjutsu. The genjutsu had some use.
However, Sakura wasn't very proficient in it now, and Ino's mental techniques provided decent resistance against genjutsu, so had Sakura actually weakened under Natsuro's guidance?
Natsuro had never considered that Sakura would end up fighting Ino while he was coaching her; he had only been thinking about her future.
As Natsuro pondered, the match between Sakura and Ino had already begun.
This battle was a rare matchup between relatively normal ninjas, as neither had any particularly special techniques.
"Sakura, I'm sorry, but I won't hold back in order to keep up with Natsuro," Ino said, delivering a punch to Sakura's abdomen.
"Just what I wanted! I have someone to catch up to as well," Sakura smiled and quickly distanced herself from Ino after feeling the pain. It seemed she was no match for Ino; when had she become this strong?
Although she could feel that Ino's attack patterns hadn't changed, her physique had clearly improved, making it difficult for Sakura to cope, even though she was familiar with her strategies.
This led to a certain innocent Natsuro being the one to blame…
"This is troublesome," Kakashi sighed, observing the scene. It looked like Sakura wouldn't win; Ino hadn't even used her secret technique yet, though it was a support technique in nature. If used in this competition, it could create advantageous conditions.
"Go, Sakura!" Naruto shouted, cupping his hands around his mouth as if using a megaphone.
"Keep it down, idiot," Sasuke said, covering his head. He looked over at Natsuro, wishing for his teammate to succeed but also aware that Ino was Natsuro's girlfriend, so he couldn't cheer too loudly.
"That guy, I shouldn't have helped him cheat," Ino complained after hearing Naruto's loud voice.
"Well, that's just Naruto for you," Sakura said with a hint of helplessness, though she felt a surge of encouragement.
Suddenly, Ino paused, sensing a gentle breeze pass by her ear, which carried Natsuro's encouraging voice.
"So, I have to give it my all too," Ino smiled, adjusted her breathing, and began forming hand signs.
At that moment, Sakura's eyes narrowed. Was the Yamanaka Clan's secret technique about to come?
But if her attack missed, then Ino's consciousness wouldn't return to her body immediately, and that would be Sakura's chance.
"Hey, using it like this makes hitting the target pretty low," Shikamaru frowned, then noticed the smile on Natsuro's face. He figured there must be some other method involved.
Ino had already finished forming her hand signs, and her hand rose toward Sakura, signaling the Mind Body Switch technique.
"Is it coming?" Sakura's nerves tightened; the outcome depended on whether she could dodge it.
"Boom!!"
In the next moment, Sakura felt a tremendous explosion ringing in her mind, and everything in front of her went dark. It felt like all her strength had vanished in an instant.
Uh-oh, Sakura realized that this didn't seem to be the Mind Body Switch technique; she had been deceived…
"This match is won by Yamanaka Ino." The faint voice echoed in her ears; she really had lost. But how had she lost?
To the audience, it appeared that Ino had used some special technique, and the next moment, Sakura collapsed. Ino slowly placed a kunai on Sakura's neck to claim victory in the match.
To be honest, most spectators didn't really understand what had happened. They recalled that the Yamanaka Clan's secret technique didn't seem to work this way.
After Hayate Gekkō announced Ino's victory, she helped the still-recovering Sakura back toward the audience seats.
"Why?" Sakura struggled to ask.
"That wasn't the Mind Body Switch; it was the Pulse Disturbing Wave Technique," Ino replied but didn't explain further. After all, that was a secret of her ninjutsu. It was one thing to share with her teammates, but Sakura, despite being her friend, was still someone she wanted to keep that secret from.
Unlike the Mind Body Switch, which had a low hit rate, the Pulse Disturbing Wave Technique didn't even require direct sight of the target; it only needed to sense their location. In this enclosed battle environment, as long as she thought about it, she could connect.
What Ino had just used was something Natsuro had taught her, allowing her to judge when the enemy was at their most tense and then using chakra to create a sound in their mind like a thunderclap. This was actually Ino's first time using it, and she hadn't expected it to work so well.
Natsuro watched this unfold, smiling. His wide-ranging knowledge had proved useful; this method belonged to the second-generation Reaper, the disciple of a certain octopus teacher.
The moment when one is at their most tense is also when they are most vulnerable; if they are hit at that time, they can end up completely stunned. This technique was quite suitable for the Yamanaka Clan.
After all, the Yamanaka Clan was highly sensitive mentally and could clearly gauge the mental state of others, allowing them to attack based on that assessment.
Ino had just used the seals of Mind Body Switch technqiue to make Sakura's mind reach a peak state of tension and then unleashed the thunderous sound.
Natsuro was somewhat surprised by Sakura's performance; the principle behind this technique wasn't difficult. He had thought Sakura would be dazed for a second or two at most, but instead, she had collapsed completely, seemingly unable to exert any strength.
It was like how an ordinary person might freeze in shock when startled during a moment of intense concentration; typically, that response would be minor and recover quickly. Of course, some might be so startled that they faint, but those cases were extremely rare.
..
So, is Ino's ability to achieve this effect unique to this world? After all, in Assassination Classroom, it requires striking someone from a certain distance while also needing to assess their mental state, which seems impressive but is actually quite difficult to execute.
However, Ino's secret technique not only allows her to make direct judgments but also enables her to use it at close range within the opponent's mind, culminating in a thunderous sound...
Achieving this isn't too surprising, then.
This should also count as a form of mental attack, right? Natsuro mused, realizing it could be quite effective, especially since the connection distance of the Pulse Disturbing Wave Technique is very broad...
When Ino handed Sakura over to Team 7, Sakura had regained her strength, but it was clear she was still a bit dazed mentally.
Ino looked at Sakura with some concern, regretting that she had used such a loud sound, and then she spotted Natsuro and couldn't help but run over to hug him excitedly.
"Natsuro, that move was amazing!"
"Yeah, just don't hold back against enemies, but try not to go so hard on friends," Natsuro replied thoughtfully, as mental injuries aren't easy to recover from, though Sakura wasn't too weak in that regard.
"Hehe, I got it! It was my first time using it, and I didn't expect it to work so well," Ino said, feeling happy to have learned such a practical method of using ninja techniques.
"Right, and remember not to use it against people with strong mental powers. It probably won't work and might even be turned against you," Natsuro added.
Just like how Ino's technique wouldn't work on him; he could use the Mind Transmission Technique to pinpoint Ino's position and counterattack mentally.
"I understand," Ino nodded solemnly.
"Of course this is something you taught her," Shikamaru rolled his eyes, unable to deduce the principles of that technique just from what he had seen earlier. Without understanding it, crafting suitable strategies for their team was a bit tricky.
Shikamaru had no intention of hiding anything; after all, a team needs to communicate effectively for better cooperation. So, he let Ino explain the technique's manifestation, and since the principle was simple, it naturally came to light.
"Wait... is that how it works?" Shikamaru said, sweating slightly. If Ino used that move against him while his hands were together in thought, wouldn't it always hit?
Natsuro suddenly thought of Shikamaru own habits and smiled at the realization that he created something that had somewhat countered Shikamaru without even realizing it.
Without the Yamanaka clan's secret technique, Shikamaru might have been able to trick Ino using that gesture, but since that wasn't the case, he couldn't even attempt to deceive her.
On the other hand, someone like Choji, who had a very laid-back mentality and found it hard to concentrate, wouldn't be too worried about Ino's technique.
But then again, if Ino were to mock Choji's snacks or call him a "fat pig" in front of him...
Never mind, it's better not to let Ino get into trouble. Natsuro wiped the sweat off his forehead, realizing his thoughts were getting a bit mischievous.
Next up was Tenten against Temari, and this battle clearly highlighted their countering relationship.
Tenten's attacks relied entirely on ninja tools, and the number she had was not something easily dealt with. Meanwhile, her opponent possessed the Wind Release: Gale Palm technique, which could blow away ninja tools...
This fight was essentially like a mouse facing a cat, utterly at her mercy.
"Finally, it's my turn!" In the next moment, Naruto shouted, rushing into the arena, and his opponent was also from Konoha, Kiba Inuzuka.
Seeing that his opponent was Naruto, Kiba sighed in relief, thinking that as long as it wasn't that red-haired monster, he would be fine!
Naruto, on the other hand, seemed to be strong only in physical power, which gave Kiba hope! A smile spread across Kiba's face.
