40% Jujutsu Kaisen: Save The Honored One / Chapter 4: Pressure

Chapitre 4: Pressure

What was he doing here?

Maybe because they had hidden their presence so well, Ken also noticed some figures behind Kenjaku.

Don't look, don't look, don't look, don't look, don't look

He mustn't look at the special grade curses behind Kenjaku. He shouldn't let them know he can see them, otherwise, he's dead meat.

Kenjaku stared at Ken curiously.

The boy was gulping and sweating as if he was being hunted by a notorious killer which aroused his suspicion.

"Excuse me, did you say an internet cafe? Ah, I know a good one around here, you need to go along this street, turn right on the 3rd alleyway you encounter, and keep going until you get to another street. Then, you should follow that street and an internet cafe called "Fujimoto Cafe" will be visible.

I hope that was helpful."

The man smiled, his slit like eyes and his charismatic smile made up for a kind, caring face.

However, to Ken who knew the true form of the curse user, the kind smile was nothing but a facade, a tender exterior to trick him.

Beneath it all was but a cunning intelligence and a wicked mind honed and tempered throughout the centuries.

"Ah, huff, ah, uh, tha- thank you." Ken managed to squeeze out of his throat, the pressure emanating from the shadows behind Kenjaku was overworking his poor heart to the point where he felt like he had a race car engine instead of his heart.

Thump, thump, thump, thump

It took everything to not scream and ran away as fast as he could.

Ken slowly turned around and took a step.

A single step, a step too hasty.

"Do you know how many people in Japan mysteriously disappear annually?" Kenjaku muttered.

He spoke quietly, barely more than a whisper, yet despite being outdoors, Ken heard it all.

The sheer implications of his words was more than enough for Ken to stop in his tracks, in the middle of taking another step.

He didn't dare to move. Something vile could be felt behind him. Not just one but multiple.

Intense hatred, an overwhelming presence enough to kill if need be.

"Tell me, do you know?"

The very same kind eyes that were looking at him with benevolence and care a moment ago were now drilling a hole into Ken's back.

Although his entire body was paralyzed, his mouth was able to move so he answered the question faithfully.

"Ten- ten thousand?"

"You're correct, now, why do you think that's the case?"

"Uhh, huh, huff, uff, kidnapping, and uh, murder?"

"Do you truly believe that answer?"

"..."

Ken was nearing his breaking point. Ever since he realized he ran up to Kenjaku, he couldn't breathe properly.

Now with his presence combined with that off special grade curses, was enough to completely snuff his breath away.

He was close to suffocating, his veins popped and his vision darkened.

"Ah, what am I doing? Off you go, it's already so late."

The pressure receded, allowing Ken to finally breathe again.

Even then, he didn't stop to catch a breather, he would take death by suffocation any day instead of being close to Kenjaku.

"Be careful! You never know what might be lurking around!"

"Oof, huff, augh."

Ken walked in a way that was between walking fast and running.

He wanted to escape as fast as possible, but doing so will surely cause suspicion.

In the eyes of a mundane person, kenjaku is just a man in a monk suit as his companions were invisible.

Running from such a person would be uncalled for.

However, his strange way of walking already gathered more suspicion to him than what he would get if he just ran.

So, realizing this, as soon as he got sufficiently far from Kenjaku, he ran.

He ran as fast as he could under the moonlight.

Under the black canvas known as the sky.

He ran in the silence of the night with his panting being the only sound.

Soon, there was another sound, a voice.

"Hey, why did you let him go? He could clearly see us."

"Relax Jogo, that kid is not a jujutsu sorcerer. He was too unprofessional and too weak. Maybe he is one of the rare few normal humans that can see you."

"But he could still contact sorcerers!"

"That's certainly true. It would be troublesome if the news of us reaches Jujutsu sorcerers this early.

That's why I need to do this."

He raised his arm, and a dark portal manifested on the ground.

And from it, a meter tall figure got out.

"You're planning to send that fodder after him? Seriously?"

"Unfortunately, I can't dispatch stronger curses because she is in town. It would leave residue. Let's go, we got what we needed anyway."

The group silently walked while the short figure went the opposite way.

In Ken's direction.
