Luffy and Hancock walked in silence in the direction of the red flare in the sky. Hancock walked with her shoulders drooped. Luffy walked with a small smile on his face.
"Aren't you excited to get back to your friends?"
Luffy spoke.
"I guess…"
'I wanted to stay here forever!'
Hancock's thoughts and words didn't match up.
"I'm sure they miss you and are eager to hear your stories about what happened the past week."
"…Yeah, I can see that."
"So what kind of stories are you going to tell them?"
"Huh?"
Hancock looked at Luffy, he smiled at her.
"What are your favorite moments on this island?"
"My favorite moments?"
Hancock straightened up and thought about Luffy's question.
"I think I loved every moment I spent with you."
Hancock's eyes slowly widened as she realized she spoke her thoughts out loud. She quickly looked at Luffy whose expression didn't change.
"I loved every moment with you too."
He spoke without looking at her. Hancock's face reddened and she shyly looked away from him.
"I'm sure that you'll have lots of stories to tell them, and I'm certain they're dying to hear them."
Luffy looked at Hancock.
"That's why you must return to them."
Hancock looked back at Luffy and he smiled at her.
"You have friends who love you and family who missed you. They're waiting for you so you shouldn't keep them waiting."
'Is he talking about his own situation with his crew?'
Hancock frowned for a second before smiling again.
"You're right. They all worked so hard to help me and encouraged me to come here. I have to return to them, I owe them that much."
Luffy nodded and folded his arms behind his head.
"But, man. I'm gonna miss you when you leave. You made it hard to feel bored and I never felt lonely with you here. I also felt I became stronger when fighting by your side."
"I felt like I grew alongside you too, mentally and physically."
Hancock clenched her fist.
"I also realized that I've been slacking off these years. I need to get stronger if I'm going to protect Amazon Lily."
"Then we feel the same way. I need to get stronger to protect my crew in the new world."
Luffy stopped and Hancock did the same. He slowly raised his fist towards her.
"Let's both continue to grow stronger so we can protect those we want to protect. That includes we protecting each other no matter what."
Hancock grinned and raised her own fist.
"For sickness and in health, we'll always be there for each other."
Luffy nodded. They bumped fists and started laughing.
The two made it to the coast where they saw Hancock's ship.
"Snake Princess!"
"Luffy!"
The moment they came into view Luffy and Hancock could hear the Kuja Pirates calling out their names. Luffy waved while Hancock walked beside him. They stopped and faced each other.
"Well, this is it."
Tears started gathering in Hancock's eyes.
"Yeah, but we'll meet again in six months. So it's not goodbye, but see you later."
"Y-Yeah."
Hancock wiped the tears from her eyes and showed a bright smile.
"See you later."
Luffy walked up to her and hugged her. This cause Hancock to freeze up.
"Wooo!"
Cheers rained down from the ship, there were even some gun salutes. Luffy released the frozen Hancock.
"See ya later, Hancock."
"Y-Yeah."
Hancock nodded and started walking towards her boat with stiff movements like a robot. Luffy watched her until she climbed onto her ship.
"Welcome back, Snake Princess."
Hancock was greeted by Elder Nyon and her sisters.
"From your interaction just now, I think it's safe to say your mission was a success."
Elder Nyon looked at Luffy waving at them and waved back. Hancock didn't answer her and was only staring into space. Seeing her, Elder Nyon sighed.
"I thought you would gain some mental fortitude after spending a week alone with a man, but I guess not."
She turned to the Kuja Pirates.
"Lift the anchor and get ready to set sail. We're leaving."
"Huh? Leaving?"
Hancock finally became animated again. The crew obeyed Elder Nyon and the ship started sailing away from Luffy.
"Wait, I wanna go back! I don't want to leave!"
"No can do. If we stay any longer we'll betray Rayleigh's trust more than we already have."
"Rayleigh would understand! Luffy needs me!"
"Hold her down."
Hancock was grabbed by her sisters.
"Make sure to hold onto her tight or she'll jump into the water."
Elder Nyon instructed.
"Marigold, Sonia, release me! I need to stay with Luffy!"
Hancock started struggling but her sisters held her down.
"Don't worry, she'll calm down once we're back home."
"Damn you, Old Woman! You'll pay for this! I'm gonna—"
"Yeah, yeah. You'll feed me to the panthers. I've heard it all before."
Elder Nyon walked away from Hancock shaking her head.
"Damn you! Wait, we're already so far from the island?! Luffy, Luffy!"
Meanwhile, Luffy stood on the shore watching Hancock's ship disappear in the distance but he could still hear her calling his name, even without Haki.
"See ya later, Hancock."
He turned his back to the ocean and entered the jungle.
At the same time on the Kuja Pirates' ship.
"Damn, she's gotten stronger!"
"Stay strong, Marie! Ow! Elder Sister, you're pulling my hair!"
"Elder Nyon, the Snake Princess has Sandersonia in a leg lock!"
"Help them out, you fools!"
Elder Nyon facepalmed as the Kuja Pirates tried their best to restrain Hancock.
"I was certain that she would mature after staying on the island. It's like all maturity disappeared once you part with Luffy."
She sighed and took out a paper.
"Looks like we'll need to carry out this operation when we're bringing Luffy to Sabody Archipelago."
The paper read "Operation Love Boat".
She looked in the direction of the island.
"See you in 6 months, Luffy."
This concludes Island For Two, I originally didn't plan on finishing this since I didn't update on Wattpad for like 6 years after chapter 16, I just finished it on a whim after posting it here. Actually, I enjoyed writing it and might do a sequel which was hinted at the end. However, since I'm writing original stories I might do it when I feel like it. Anyway, thanks for the support and I might see you again soon since Luffy X Hancock is by far my favorite One piece.
Oh, If you guys want I might write fanfics of other ships and try to make it seem as realistic as possible fitting the canon characterizations. So you can comment on your favorite ships below.
