That morning, after having their breakfast, Satoru and Mai were still seated in the inn's restaurant, unfolding a piece of parchment and skillfully sketching the outlines of an island. A map began to form under their nimble fingers, accompanied by some comments and plans, while Mai watched with curiosity, a plate of tropical fruits still untouched beside her.
"So, this is the Goa Kingdom?", she inquired, pointing to the sketched area.
He nodded. "Yes. It's nearby. I've heard that the nobles of this place collect Devil Fruits as if they were mere gemstones. If I want more power... we need to go there."
Their conversation was interrupted by the murmurs of villagers. With a glance, he realized the need for discretion and quickly folded the map, thanking the waiter for the breakfast and paying with a few coins.
Leaving the inn, they walked towards the forest. The vegetation was thick, but the sounds of birds and the gentle breeze brought a sense of tranquility. However, Satoru's mind was racing. Recalling the teachings of Master Piccolo, he began to focus his energy, sensing every vibration and essence around him.
Mai looked on, intrigued. "What are you doing?"
"A technique I learned from Master Piccolo. Purification of the soul... or at least an attempt." After a while, he smiled. His ki, as he would name it in another universe, didn't operate here in the same manner, but he could sense the Haki. It was different but analogous.
"I've achieved it," he whispered, "I can purify souls and harness them for my Devil Fruit." Mai moved closer, wrapping her arm around his waist. "And that's a good thing, right?"
He nodded. "Yes. If I can master this... We'll be unstoppable, Mai."
They continued their journey, the sun now higher in the sky. The prospect of raiding the Goa Kingdom and acquiring more Devil Fruits for his collection invigorated Satoru. And he was confident that, with Mai by his side and the newfound abilities he was uncovering, the world of One Piece would truly be his to explore.
